All right, I put a highlight here saying David was both Israel's greatest sinner and saint.
David, though the prodigal son of the Old Testament, was still the anointed of the Lord, the king of Israel,
the man after God's own heart. Think of that significance.
Even though, you know, David was probably a very, you know,
righteous person in the beginning and then kind of had his ways about him,
but he was still anointed to the Lord because it says the man after God's own heart.
It's really an interesting subject here, right? Because we as Christians,
we're never gonna be perfect. And same thing with David. He's not perfect either.
Everybody except for Jesus Christ will never be perfect.
And so we really just have to understand that. True and simple statement is that we can't be perfect.
Which I put down as a highlight is
when a man strikes rock bottom in his sense of nothingness that he suddenly finds
he has struck the rock of ages, which is Jesus Christ. Okay, he's our foundation.
And so that's a fantastic statement that we have to stay faithful to the Lord
so we can be encouraged by the foundation of Jesus Christ.
Obviously, if we get backslidden, we can be pretty, you know, depressed or discouraged.
Honestly, it's kind of hard to see, you know, Christians getting very depressed, but it's very possible. I've seen it.
I've been on podcasts about it and everything like that.
But it's so, so important that we stay strong in the Word of God every single day.
And that way we can be encouraged to stay true and strong in the Lord.
And then also here in the final analysis,
discouragement is a spiritual problem and can only be fought with spiritual weapons.
Like I just said, the Bible is our spiritual weapon. And not only that,
but we need to use our brains to memorize God's Word.
We need to make sure that we're living God's Word because you can read something and not apply it.
But if you read something from the Bible and apply it, there you go. You're living the Christian lifestyle. Amen to that.
I put down here, Paul knew that a preacher's first commodity was himself.
He knew how easily the pearl of personality could be lost.
How easily one could disqualify himself in the race. To keep yourself is worth battling for.
A reputation once broken may possibly be repaired,
but the world will always keep their eyes on the spot where the crack was.
So this is something about personalities, right?
