In today's time, can you ever imagine a world without modern telecommunications or wireless mobile communication?
Have you ever wondered about a world devoid of digital color photography or modern color displays?
Who inspired Albert Einstein in the field of physics?
Many of us often think who is behind these transformative innovations and events.
Welcome to Abstract Derivatives.
Today, let's explore James Clerk Maxwell, often who is called as the father of modern physics, and specifically the father of electrical engineering.
Maxwell's equations for electromagnetism are considered the second great unification in physics, following Isaac Newton's foundational work.
In 1865, he published a dynamic theory of electromagnetic field.
Maxwell demonstrated that electricity and magnetic field propagate through space as waves moving at the speed of light.
Moreover, he pioneered durable color photography in 1861.
Maxwell also unifies different types of electromagnetic radiations, like color waves, UV waves, X-ray waves, radio waves, infrared waves.
All different types of waves have different different wavelengths and speed.
Maxwell mentioned all these waves are different types of electromagnetic waves.
His discoveries laid the groundwork for modern physics, influencing fields such as special theory of relativity, quantum mechanics, etc.
Albert Einstein acknowledged Maxwell's profound impact.
He said that without Maxwell's equation, he could not have formulated his famous equation E is equal to mc2.
Einstein regarded Maxwell's work as the most profound and fruitful that physics has experienced since the time of Newton.
In essence, Maxwell's electromagnetism shaped countless aspects of today's world, from electrical engineering to digital electronics technology.
As Einstein once famously replied, he did not stand on Newton's shoulder, but on the shoulder of Maxwell.
