Food in Italy for kids. This is Jeannie. She is going to visit Italy with her family,
but she is so nervous. She doesn't know what food they will have there and she is not sure
if she will like it. Let's recommend some different Italian foods for her to try.
Pizza Margherita. Margherita pizza has the three colors of the Italian flag.
Tomatoes stand for the red color in the Italian flag. Mozzarella cheese for the white and basil
for the green color. So delicious. Spaghetti Bolognese. Spaghetti are only one form of pasta,
which means noodles in Italian. Pasta comes in many different types, shapes,
tastes, and colors and is usually made from wheat flour. Spaghetti Bolognese is Italian spaghetti
with tomato and minced meat sauce. It is loved by many children all around the world. Okay, page two.
Bruschetta. Bruschetta is a slice of bread that has been grilled in the oven.
The slices are first rubbed with garlic and oil, then shortly grilled, and then usually
topped with tomatoes and basil or ham or salami or olives or mozzarella. You name it, they add it.
Bruschetta is often eaten as antipasti, as a starter dish or snack. Gelato. In Italian, gelato
means frozen, and this ice cream comes in all colors and flavors and is usually served as
balls in a cone or cup. Chocolate flavor is probably the most popular gelato of all. So yummy.
Tiramisu. Our favorite Italian dessert is made with ladyfinger biscuits that have been soaked
in espresso coffee and then topped with mascarpone, cream cheese, and lots of cocoa.
Did you know that tiramisu means lift me up in Italian? Goodbye.
