Let's talk about something we want to do in the upcoming year.
In autumn of this year, I want to go learn to sing.
Your turn!
Fabulous!
We can use 要 to say we want to or we're going to.
So we can use it to talk about our upcoming plans.
We can also use the word 會 in the same way.
For next year's winter, I'm going to grandpa's house to celebrate the new year.
Let's start writing our words of the day.
To write 春, we can think of it as two parts, 上面和下面。
At the top, there are three horizontal strokes followed by a left slant and a right slant.
It's warmer in the spring, so the radical for 春 is the sun.
We write it following our box rules.
That's how we write 春.
Now you try it.
For summer, 夏, we start with a horizontal stroke and a short left slant,
followed by a part that looks like 目 or the eye.
We wrote this character before when we learned to write 看 for look.
It's the same here.
We follow the box rules with the left, top and right walls first.
We fill inside with two strokes and close out the box.
The bottom is trickier.
We do a left slant, a horizontal stroke that curves to the left,
and a press stroke to the right to end it.
That's how we write 夏.
Now you try.
To write the character for autumn, 秋, we start with 左邊.
This part of the word is known as 和 and stands for grains
because autumn is when crops are ready for harvest.
We write it with a slant stroke on top,
followed by a character that looks just like wood, 木.
On the right side, 右邊, we have the character for fire, 火.
So we write the two sparks first and then add the two slant strokes in between.
That's how we write 秋.
Now you try.
Finally, let's write 冬.
The top looks tricky, but it's exactly the same as the bottom of 夏,
so we write it with the same strokes.
After that, we just add two dots to wrap up the word.
Now you try it.
