The Chopstick Travel, we're Luke and Sabrina and today is day two here in Rome.
The plan for today is to eat as much Italian food as possible.
We definitely want to try some typical Roman pasta before we leave Rome and we're starting
our day off here in front of the Pantheon.
And the first thing we're going to do is go grab an espresso, so let's go.
We are at a very picturesque cafe to start the day.
This is called Cafe Tazadoro and it's just right beside the Pantheon and it's in the
shade.
It has a huge menu of drinks.
We're going to be ordering up a little drink and also a little sweet.
Alright breakfast is served.
So I have a macchiato which is just an espresso shot with a little bit of milk foam on top
and then the sfogliatella which is a nice looking pastry with about a thousand layers,
icing sugar and inside it is stuffed with ricotta cheese and orange zest.
So that is going to be awesome but first I've got to try this macchiato just to wake me
up in the morning.
Yes, that is the perfect way to start the day and of course a bite of this pastry.
I think it's going to be extremely flaky.
That sfogliatella is extremely crispy, full of different layers and check out the inside.
You can see that it is jam packed with that ricotta.
It's got a really nice flavor.
The only thing I would say is that the flakes are a little bit more dry than I was expecting.
Usually it's kind of moist, almost like a croissant.
This one's a little more dry but with that ricotta inside, it's fine.
That is really good.
It's way too hot for me to have a hot coffee this morning so I've got a latte freddo here
and just look at the layers on this sfogliatella.
This was one of my favorite things we tried in Naples when we were there and I'm pumped
to try again.
Look at all these layers.
I don't want to peel them all off.
Look at that.
It's like a slinky of a pastry.
Super cool, famous, historic cafe here in the center of Rome right near the Pantheon.
Really good.
Prices are a little bit expensive but it's okay.
We're heading now for a typical Roman lunch.
You could literally spend a lifetime just roaming around Rome and just getting lost
in these little streets.
Every single turn you take is this new painting basically.
It's so extremely beautiful here and we're making our way towards a famous restaurant
called Trattoria d'Enzo.
It's one of our favorite restaurants in all of Rome so let's go try.
So this is Trattoria d'Enzo.
It's a super local spot that serves all the typical Roman dishes.
You can get all the famous pastas here, the Amatriciana, the Carbonara, the Cacio e Cate
and Pasta alla Griglia.
So we ordered some of those and we also ordered the artichoke and I love this place.
It's just got such a local atmosphere and the food is so good so we're waiting for it
to arrive.
So a must order in Rome is anything artichoke.
This one is Jewish style, fried and just simply with salt and oh yeah that's super crispy.
Listen to that.
Oh man.
It's still warm but you can still see that it's moist on the inside and that is beautiful
looking.
Let's try it.
That's just simply delicious.
Seriously crispy on the outside and then you get that soft smooth artichoke heart in the
middle.
Just the flavor of salt and the natural artichoke kind of earthiness.
It's a must order any time in Rome.
Just look at how beautiful this thing is.
It is seriously crispy.
I love the contrast and crispiness and softness at the same time.
So the pasta has arrived and this is just something of my dreams.
This is Pasta alla Griglia.
This is my favorite of the typical Roman pastas served with a rigatoni pasta.
So we've got these kind of tube pastas and then what makes this one the Pasta alla Griglia
is the use of the Pecorino Romano cheese and then the guanciale which is almost like an
Italian bacon you could say.
You can see all that black pepper on there too.
Oh yeah.
That's incredible.
So good.
It's delicious.
So good.
So the sauce is just the Pecorino Romano cheese.
It's really coating the pasta completely.
You get that little hit of pepper.
The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente.
That goes without saying.
Let's try another bite here with the guanciale.
It's going to go perfectly with the pasta.
A little bit of a crunch.
A little bit of a funk actually.
And it's definitely got some saltiness to it too.
It compliments the pasta perfectly.
Guys, this is some seriously high quality stuff.
The pasta is of course homemade.
The pepper is actually from Sarawak which is super cool.
Really high quality black pepper.
It's simply perfect.
You couldn't do anything else to make this better.
It's perfect.
Okay guys, wow.
That was incredible.
That's always a top restaurant for us here in Rome.
Since we've been coming from Canada traveling,
we've been getting serious jet lag
and it's so hard to eat so much food when you're so tired
because it feels like, I don't know, 4 in the morning.
It's like 4 or 5 a.m. right now and we just had that huge meal.
Very rich, cheesy pasta for our breakfast.
It's a little bit strong but so delicious.
We're just stuffed though.
Yes, we are.
The Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin
So right now we're in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin
and this was built in the 700s.
It's a very beautiful basilica
and there's one thing here that's very famous,
the Mouth of Truth.
We're going to go check that out.
Do you know who painted that?
Da Vinci, isn't it?
I think so.
So this here is the Mouth of Truth.
It's actually an ancient manhole cover
which is super cool
and it's popular to put your hand inside
and then lick it and give yourself COVID.
We're only here once so I better do it.
It's fantastic.
We have made a stop at the historic Campidoglio.
This is a square that was designed by Michelangelo
and it is lined with museums
and in the back you get an incredible view.
What a nice place.
Thank you.
It's like what, 37 degrees today?
Yeah, 37.
One more degree than yesterday.
Our next stop today
is at La Prosciuttoria Cantina dei Papi.
This is a place that you can get
all kinds of different Italian cold cuts.
We ordered up a plate
and we've got ourselves a Peroni.
We are sweating like crazy.
It's hot out there.
Did we say that yet?
That it's hot outside?
So our plate has arrived.
We ordered the medium plate.
We've got all kinds of different things.
There's salami.
There's a couple of crostinis.
This one's with sun-dried tomato with blue cheese.
A couple of different types of prosciutto.
This is with olives.
There is some olives
and then I see some greens,
some pickles, tomatoes, orange
and then we've got some cow cheese
with some apples
and then there's some sheep's cheese
and that is just an absolute thing of beauty.
So I definitely gotta start with this crostini here.
The sun-dried tomato crostini.
Oh man.
Delicious tart tomato flavor
and a nice crunchy crostini
and I gotta chase that
with a piece of this beautiful, beautiful prosciutto.
So that's nice and salty.
It's got that cured flavor.
So I actually thought these were little white olives
but it turns out they're actually mushrooms.
That's super cool.
Let's try one of these.
It looks like it's covered in olive oil.
Oh man.
Actually almost nutty.
It's got a really soft texture
and I wanna try this combo here.
Really interesting.
The green apple with the cheese.
That is an interesting combo.
So they were playing some really loud
not copyright free music
so we couldn't really film too much in there
but really delicious.
I'm not a huge cheese guy
and the blue cheese crostini
was a little bit much for me
but all the meats were absolutely delicious
and now we've just come down
to the extremely famous Trevi Fountain.
Trevi Fountain is definitely
one of the most popular sites here in Rome.
It's this extremely extravagant fountain
and building
and the water is this beautiful blue color
and there's tons of tourists
and right now because of COVID
they've actually got this little barrier
so you can't get down next to it.
Usually you can walk right up to it
and throw a coin over your shoulder
into the water.
I think it means
so that you'll come back to Rome someday.
And actually we did it last time
so it worked.
Alright guys that's it for our day here in Rome.
We have to catch a late flight tonight
to Sicily
so make sure if you haven't subscribed

We have tons more videos coming from Italy.
It's gonna be an incredible trip to Sicily.
It'll be our first time there.
And what was your favorite thing
we had today Sabrina?
My bite of your
Casa La Grecia.
Definitely.
It was so good.
