Oh!
Rock right there.
They make it stronger for more coffee, but apparently lighter roast has more caffeine.
It took us about two hours, and it was tiring.
We only took like a 20 minute break to eat and explore a little bit, but it's pretty
much done.
I just hope that it's big enough for the tent.
I need you to make sure this doesn't spin.
So far the pegs are holding.
Oh, this one isn't.
Well, it's done.
A giant hole.
A couple hours, but the tent is finally up.
Now we just need to get firewood and get cozy.
Yeah, you might need to pull me out, man.
Actually, I took a wrong step.
Pull me out here.
Oh!
Thank God I still have my boot.
This is deep snow.
Look how deep that is.
I don't know if you guys can tell from that angle, but it is deep.
Tonight's supposed to get to like negative 8, feeling like negative 14.
I feel like that's pretty cold.
This bag is for negative 7, so I also brought a sleeping bag liner, which may or may not
work.
I don't know.
I've never used it before.
We'll find out.
And I also brought a little down jacket and down pants.
So, hopefully between that and this fireplace, I won't be freezing cold.
Worst case scenario is I get up and walk to the car.
Took us way too long to set up that tent, but now we have like two hours left till the
sunset, so we're gonna get some firewood before we're left in the dark and the cold.
And we gotta cook some dinner, too.
So we gotta get a move on.
Trying to maneuver without snowshoes is nearly impossible.
Your foot will sink like two feet and you'll lose a boot.
The sun is officially setting.
We're just gonna get a fire going, start to cook some food because I can feel that temperature
dropping pretty quickly.
But look how nice that is.
I really wish the sun was up for longer because I don't want to go in.
It looks so nice.
Such a nice day.
It's not even that cold.
End of December, sun sets at like 440, so don't have much to do.
Those temperatures start dropping really quick.
Your little tent's sticking out there.
Reference to how deep of a hole we had to dig.
Look at that.
It's pretty amazing.
I wish I could get the camera to show just how nice it is out here, but I don't think
it's possible.
Alright, we've just been hanging around.
Sun's gone down now.
It's dark.
A little boring.
We had a coffee.
And I brought some ingredients for a delicious stew.
And I'm using elk meat that my neighbor gave me after his hunt.
So I'm hoping this turns out really nicely.
We were getting a little worried we were running out of firewood for the night.
So we went outside and we cut like, I don't know, 10 good pieces.
But while we were out there, we had the stew going.
And it is looking good.
It's been about two hours.
I think this thing's ready to eat.
Yeah, it's still hot.
Sweet potato just fell apart.
Just part of it.
Look at the way the moon shines off the snowflakes.
It's like a full moon right now.
And you can see pretty darn well, even with the video, which does not do it justice.
We don't need a flashlight at all.
We're just walking around.
And there's a tent.
Yesterday was a lot of work.
But last night we had some pretty good food.
And we were pretty warm all night long.
So I can't complain.
But this morning it's pretty cold, so we're trying to get the heck out of here.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed this video.
I'll piece together what I can.
And I'll see you guys in the next one.
