The 7th Harmony for Archery

Welcome everybody. Today I want to talk a little bit for the more advanced archers about the six
harmonies. Some of you might know them from the Chinese martial arts. These are the three external
and the three internal harmonies. You have the external ones is shoulder and hip, elbow and knee,
wrist and ankle. And the internal one is the emotional mind and intention. The intention in
they all need to be in harmony. That's so far so good as it's from martial arts I think it applies
to archery too. But of course these six harmonies refer to a hand fight and maybe stick or knife
or something you have in your hand. The difference what we do we send a projectile away and for that
I invented the seventh harmony. Now hear me out. Seventh harmony is a kind of like
eye-hand coordination. So where you look you know the principle you know you just
where you look there it goes. Quite simple as that. So but how long do you look there and
where do you look? Of course in my beginner's trainings you learn you look there you clean
your eyes there and you look there and you make sure that you see this little small spot and then
you shoot. Yes that's right. For the beginning it's okay but now imagine you sit on a horse
the enemy is moving you don't have time to be focused on a very small spot. So for me the
seventh harmony is the eye and the target and how do you harmonize it? You see the target the whole
big or whatever the whole enemy and in the moment you expand with your arms you bring
your focus together. So you stand here before you extend your arms you see the whole target
and when you extend your arms you zoom in so to say and you focus on the very small spot.
That makes I think your life easier. Just try it. So you see the whole target and now
I zoom in this very small spot only for the last
bit of a second. So I don't look for the small spot the whole time.
I just see the whole target and now I zoom in.
And then you have this seventh harmony in this what you need to keep harmonized. Harmony for me
is yin yang. So you need to balance it and I balance my external extension with my internal
contraction focused to the small very narrow part of the target.
And it works quite well. So you see the whole target and in the moment you expand your arms
you zoom in at this very small spot.
When you load you see the whole target and when you expand
you zoom in at this small spot in the center or wherever you want to zoom in.
It works quite well. It works every time.
So you don't need to stare at your target and look for it and look at it for hours. You just look
and when you expand.
Different spot.
Easy peasy. Works quite well. Try it out and let me know how it works for you.
Thank you very much for watching. Catch you in the next one.
