Hey guys, welcome to another video, and there's no other way to start this one but say, it's
absolutely insane to me that in one week, two videos, the channel is already creeping up on
250 subscribers. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed, liked the videos, and left feedback.
I try to respond to a good portion of the comments, and I bet there will be some interesting
ones on this, to say the least. Now, if you're not privy to why Flyers fans have waited over a
year for this game, let me catch you up to speed a little bit. July 7th, 2022, the Philadelphia
Flyers drafted cutter Gautier 5th overall. In the spring of 2023, after returning from the
know that he would not be signing with the Flyers, but didn't give a specific reason.
The Flyers tried to mend the relationship, but ultimately traded him to Anaheim in return for
Jamie Drysdale on January 8th, 2024, just over a year ago from the game here tonight.
Here's what John Tortorella had to say about it when it happened.
So tonight, Gautier would be playing in front of the Philadelphia crowd for the first time.
Now, any fanbase will probably take exception to a high draft pick not wanting to play for them,
but if you know Flyers fans, you know that they definitely were going to take some exception to
that, and I was here for every little bit of it, so let's get into it. First period,
just over 20 seconds into the game, the chants would start, we want cutter.
With 19.07 left in the first, cutter Gautier takes the ice for the first time,
and Flyers fans would make sure to let him know they don't like him by raining down
boos and chanting Jamie's better. Just over a minute into the period,
Morgan Frost would get a shot on Nat, and we would get our first small scrum of the game.
Just over 16 minutes left in the period, we would get more boos, this time with a
funny commentary about gambling. Just under 15 minutes left in the period,
Ducks would ice it, we would get, you guessed it, more boos, with quote on quote all sorts
of greetings for cutter. 12.5 minutes left in the first,
we would get a line change for Anaheim. This would continue all game, literally I have 10
minutes of Flyers fans booing and taunting Gautier, so we won't touch on it every single
it happens, but you should at least have a pretty good idea of the atmosphere in the game now.
So fast forward to just under 7 minutes into the period, we would get our first goal.
Travis Konechny tries to get it to Frost, and it deflects off of his skate, and in,
that's 1-0 Flyers. Bobby Brink and Brandon Dumoulin would collide,
they're both okay, no calls on the play. Just over 2 minutes left in the period,
Anaheim would try to generate some offense shorthanded. At the other end of the ice,
Forster had collided with Gibson, he's shaken out, but ultimately stays in the game.
A little over 10 seconds later, Flyers on the rush, it's Konechny who hits the brakes and
finds Drysdale, who's able to put it under the left pad of Gibson. Gibson probably wants that
one back, but you know what, as someone without a dog in the fight, I just wanted to see Drysdale
or Gautier have an impact tonight, and it felt pretty big when Drysdale scored. The arena's
rocking, he's all smiles, and you have to imagine, it probably feels pretty good to score on the team
that traded you away. With 40 seconds left in the period, we would get another scrum. Gautier's kind
of the only player on the ice not part of the scrum, that's until Garnett Hathaway reaches out
and pulls him into it. At this point, I'm having a lot of fun watching this game, and the commentator
says it best. There's no question that this game has a lot more energy to it than any game we've
seen in quite some time, and I'm all for it. At the end of the period, we would get another
scrum when Johnston goes after Sanheim, giving him a couple of shots. That'll send Philadelphia to
the power play, and we're headed to the second 2-0 Flyers. Two and a half minutes into the period,
Flyers on the rush, 2 on 2, York would have a scoring chance but doesn't convert. Play heads
the other way, Gautier with the puck, and well, he gets shot off in what was probably his most
notable moment of the game to be honest. 14 and a half left in the second, Poehling lays a big hit
on Colangelo. Konechny and Gautier would get into it a little bit after the whistle. They showed a
replay where you can really hear the fans and just how into this game they are. They would show Danny
Briere, the Flyers GM, who has a shit-eating grin on his face, looks like he's enjoying the game.
I believe the refs tried telling Couturier he wasn't on the ice for an icing call when he
actually was. He looks pissed, but Tortorella looks even more pissed as he kind of flails his
arms around and then beelines it to the ref. He ends up giving him a few little pats on the back
though. And then just under four minutes left on the 2-on-1, it's Konechny again but this time to
Owen Tippett with an absolutely beautiful saucer pass. I personally can't wait to watch Konechny
on Team Canada. That's neither here nor there though, it's 3-0 Flyers. We'd get another scrum
after Vetrano bumps Sanheim after the whistle. Both teams would receive minors to make it 4-on-4,
but we're gonna fast forward to the third. Just over 20 seconds into the period, the Flyers would
score another beauty as Sanheim moves the puck to Garnett Hathaway, who already knows he wants
to one-touch pass it to Poehling. Poehling uses his speed to get around Guttis, he pulls it back
and puts it up and over the blocker of Gibson to make it 4-0 Flyers. Michkov and Guttis would get
into it behind the Ducks net, they both get minors for roughing and Michkov isn't happy about it.
What he is happy about though is with just under 12-and-a-half left in the period on the power
play, Travis Konechny shoots it off the boards, Michkov picks up the rebound and puts the Flyers
up 5-0. I'm not sure if that was an intentional pass off the boards, but I definitely wouldn't be
surprised if it was. Guttis would leave the ice right after the goal and in real time is it just
me, but it felt like he was probably going to smash something after that celebration from Michkov.
Just over a minute later, Hathaway would score to really put the nail in the coffin,
Flyers go on to win 6-0, giving Ersan the shutout. Konechny had a 4-point night,
and Drysdale had himself a 2-point night. All in all, the Flyers basically dominated this game
from beginning to end, and you have to wonder if the days are numbered for Kronen behind the bench
of the Ducks. Nonetheless, if you made it this far, there will be two videos on the end screen
for you. If you haven't already, subscribe to the channel, like the video, and let me know your
thoughts on the game down below. Until next time, okay guys?
