JPMorgan Chase trading revenue rose 21% from a year earlier, jumping to $7.05 billion in the fourth quarter. Fixed-income revenue beat analysts’ estimates, while equities-trading revenue fell short. Sonali Basak reports on Bloomberg Television.
For JP Morgan, it is interesting. Fixed income, blowing it out of the water, up to $5 billion
for the quarter in fixed income and currencies trading over here. But you do have equities
falling wide of expectations. Now, what does that look like into this year? There's an
expected IPO rebound. That would lead to more supply here for the trading desks. But they
are below expectations. Competitive business right now on Wall Street. Goldman is looking
to take more share. They're looking to finance hedge funds in order to build that business
even bigger. Morgan Stanley has been the king of the castle there reporting tomorrow. We'll
see what that rat race looks like. Charge offs in line with expectations. At this part
of the cycle, that's good news, isn't it? Just getting the outlook, 2025 net interest
income $94 billion. The estimate, Shanali, $91.31. That is a nice upside surprise there
and another tick higher in that stock. Can I tell you something? The street was expecting
this to be a lower number. So the fact that they came in at $94 billion expected this
year. Guys, remember, this is a number that they have raised over and over and over again.
This is the idea that you are not seeing interest rates lowering as much as expected and you
still have loan demand from consumers.
