Big tight belts always

GT or GO the way it will be
Sing your song or your song

Step back
Oh my God, this thing is beautiful
Mike, don't move
What?
Look up
Watch out
I don't want to open this wall
I'm not masked
I mean to throw a little gas and try to start this thing
Where is this GTO?
In one of these cellars
You have many buildings here
Yeah, in my grain building here on the lean side
I drove there several years ago
And this was a car you bought new in Folha or you've known for a long time?
I had a car almost the same before I got married, almost 50 years ago
And I sold it when the price of gasoline was crazy in the mid-70s
These GTOs never had a very good gasoline
Grisvalde driver, Aeoa, who stays south of Moenis during an ice storm
He was on a farm near Grisvalde
Wow
Yes
Oh my God, this thing is beautiful
She looked better in the last few days
Let's put it that way
Well, that's why we're here
But I mean, this one seems to be in very, very good condition
The bodywork is in good condition
The engine compartment has never been moved
And I always wanted to remove the transmission from the engine, redo the entire engine compartment and everything
The less I do, the less I can
So, it was kept working
I just put a new battery because I know the battery wasn't good
The 686,970 had narrow air inlets
And I think this is the first year they did this with the white
I understand
In some of the photos I had seen online, the air inlets of the hood were smaller and stayed up here
The first
Right, I understand
And then they came and repositioned them down here
And then you're saying that these newer models also enlarge the hood for more air tires
Thank you, thank you very much for the opportunity
We are very excited to do this
I really appreciate it
I'm glad my daughter got in touch with you
I think, in the long run, she will want this as a Christmas gift someday
So, she had some alternative reasons
Reason
Well, I think the next step is to fill these tires and see if any of these wheels are locked
All right, Brett, these tires have seen better days
That's right
Take a look at this
I think they will fill
Oh no, there's a crack right there
I can stick my finger in there
How does this crack happen?
Just by the weight of the tire
Yes, there are metal pores on the inside of these tires
And basically they wear out and the pressure here bends the tire, you know, on both sides
But what would happen if you still drove with a tire like this full of air?
Ah, that would certainly make a lot of noise and explode
It wouldn't be safe to drive it
I mean, I wouldn't do it if you were just going down the street
Probably not
But I can't imagine that this thing on the highway is safe for many kilometers
Sit down
Can you sit down for me?
Ah
Stop
All right
I just found probably the coolest work of art I've ever seen in a celery or garage
A pepsi plane without caffeine
It took a while to do
Dude, it's like a very intricate plane
This is very well done and it is symmetrical
Well, he may have hit it
All right, we're fine, help me get up
Thank you
Here we go
I think it's going to roll
Easy
Now, while we start taking this GTO out of this celery, I want to take a second to ask the question of the video
So leave your answers in the comments below
This was a car from the wish list we had to put on the channel for you
If there was another car that you could see us filming and making a detailed video, what would it be and why?
We are always looking for things and always curious to know what you would like to see
So let us know below
And I also want to set a goal of 50,000 likes on this video
This is the biggest goal of likes I've ever set for a video on YouTube
But I think we can overcome it on the first weekend of this live video
So if you're enjoying it so far, click the like button
And also make sure to subscribe to our channel because we have really cool things coming
And I think I'll tell you everything now
We have what could be the biggest automotive collaboration in the history of YouTube in February
I'm not going to say who, but make sure to subscribe so you don't miss it
Right, we're about to fix the car and then go back to our office in Ohio
But I thought it would be a good time to mention that we are traveling through the United States in search of cars in conditions like these
And we want to show the details of your car
If you have something cool and something dirty, let us know
Send us an email or DM on Instagram
A photo of your car and where it is located
We would love to go there, put the car in our trailer like this, take it back to Cleveland and clean it for you for free
Just make sure it's dirty and that it's some kind of vehicle for enthusiasts
Let's tie it up and go back to Cleveland because I can't talk much more
It's cold, so, fortunately, the workshop is finally warm
And my first impression, and I think I even mentioned it when we got it, is the condition
It's in great condition and that makes me very excited to polish it
Because many of the cars we worked on were repainted or were in the sun or have damage, spots, bad paint, etc, etc
So, many times I'm putting all this work on polishing something that really needs to be repainted
This car doesn't need it, it has an amazing paint job and the before and after will be insane
So, I didn't realize how much I really liked GTOS until I saw this car
I remember the time in 1970, this may be my favorite muscle car
Now, the front of this car is so aggressive
The air inlets make it look like it's rustling, as if there was a lot of power behind this thing
I also like the bi-color of this car with the black mirrors, the black roof and the green paint
And I'm also a big fan of the two shades, but I'm almost sure this car already had the vinyl hood
Because I can see a lot of sand marks
So, my guess is that at some point, when they went to repaint the car, they removed the vinyl hood and then painted it black
But I don't know if this was the most common option they offered
Let me know in the comments below if it was more common or less common to have the vinyl hood
And I really think we can make this thing work
That's why we're going to call the Power And Performance staff in two days to try to make this car work again
It's Tuesday and we have a lot of work to do
So, I think we're going to start with the details and, as usual, start with the wheels
Now, while we start cleaning the wheels, I would like to mention that if you are interested in any of the products that you see us using in this video
They are all linked in the description below
But I also want to mention a quick story that my father told me
I had no idea
So, shout out to Paul
I'm sure many of you who are watching already know this
But the GTO, in fact, received its design from the man who created the DeLorean, which was John DeLorean
John DeLorean was a promising engineer and executive at Pontiac and helped with innovation in projects like Tempest
And, eventually, they wanted to create a high-performance car for younger buyers
And their idea was simple
They took a medium-sized Tempest, equipped it with a powerful V8 engine from the Pontiac line and got the GTO
So, just a curiosity
In case you don't know, the DeLorean and the GTO are connected
Heat
All right!
Bren and I are going through the pre-washing process of this GTO
And I found a sticker on the car whose meaning I don't know
1. But maybe you know and can tell me
Why is the tiger here?
Is it something similar to what Dodge had on the Road Runner in its cheap cars?
1. I'm not sure
I had no idea that this would have something to do with this car
But let me know below if there is anything I don't know
But this is really cool
Yes! It looks like an initial version of it too
Heat
Out of curiosity
This is just for my personal curiosity
Why do you watch our videos?
I like to do them because I love to do fun things and help people with anxiety, mental health problems
Touch
But I also like to watch satisfying things to sleep at night
Like that guy who fixes and takes care of cow shells
But I'm curious
Why do you watch our videos?
We just finished the pre-washing of this GTO and the paint is already looking much, much better
But now we have to check the engine compartment
So, I think this is the first and only car we had here
Brent, correct me if I'm wrong, that had pins
I was going to say
Does this car come with it?
No, this car doesn't come
I'm not sure if the judge comes or not
You let me know
This is a 6.6 L and 400 cubic inches V8 that had 300 horsepower at that time
Now, in 71, I know they had some restrictions with these cars
So, actually, this is less in terms of power than the previous models
And I know this is not the judge's highlight
Which is a 455 horsepower engine
But, besides that, what other differences were between the two cars?
If you can inform us below, I would love to know more about it
It doesn't seem to be so bad
It doesn't seem like there was any problem
Maybe a little
The wires are good
All well compared to some things we saw on this channel
But do you think the Power and Performance guys can make this thing work?
Ah, I'm sure they can make this thing work
Let's use our citric degreaser to degrease the entire engine
So they have a clean start to work
No grease
Did you like that?
Heat, heat
All right
So, now that the vehicle is all washed
Let's go ahead and remove the iron
And that's what we usually talk about at this time
But, at the same time, when we sand our iron remover all over the paint
We use it as an iron remover and also as a lubricant
But I wanted to show you the other part of this equation, which is clay
And we use clay not only to remove iron particles
But also other small sediment particles
Other really microscopic pieces of dirt
That are housed in the transparent layer of your vehicle
So we use synthetic clay to continue and remove it from the paint
That way, when I'm polishing, I'm not polishing dirt and particles in the paint
That way, I can get the finish I'm looking for
Because, otherwise, I'm literally just getting dirt and scratching the paint even more
In this case, I'm not going to use our iron remover yet
I just want to show you what clay does by itself
I'll try to leave my microphone very close so you can hear the roughness
It looks like a sandpaper
What this will do is collect all the sediments and, luckily
It will make the sound much softer and remove all these sediments
That way, I won't have to polish back to paint the vehicle
And do exactly the same test and the sound should be much softer
And yes, applying clay to the car scratches the paint
It damages the paint, this is inevitable
Unfortunately, you won't get around it
But, in this case, I'm going to polish the car
So, it's a necessary step to ensure that the paint is as clean as possible to polish
The car will look good again
And another point where I love to use our iron kryptonite
Is when the metal or chrome are rusty
I'm going to polish, let it act for a few minutes and start using steel straw to remove
Then, I come back with a little metal polish and work
Then, I pass a little isopropyl alcohol to remove all the residues
And leave the finish very, very clean
But this is just another way to use an iron remover
You don't have to use it just in the car paint
All right, Mike, tell me about the interior of this car
Yeah, that's how you're going to start
All right, the interior of this GTO is an interesting place to be
I've never sat so low in a car with such a high panel
Now, I'm a little lower
But I feel that my line of sight is well blocked by this huge panel
Which unfortunately has a crack
This usually happens when the vehicle goes through heating cycles
So, that's why keeping a vehicle in a heated and cold garage is very important
And away from sunlight
The sunlight damages the interiors a lot and also discolors them
But, besides that, I really like the layout
And I especially like the GTO logo on this car, right at the door
As you can see, I think this is called metal brushing
You can correct me in the comments if I'm wrong about this
But I really like this little brushed look
And it has this same look here
Unfortunately, someone took the radio out of this car
I think it was very, very cool
And you usually see things like this in modern low-cylinder cars
Or even in low-cylinder cars at that time
These were the external parts of the car to give a special touch to the look
So, I think this really adds a touch of elegance to this interior
I also love the steering wheel of this car
Because I'm in love with cars that have several buttons for the horn
No other button here does anything
All of these are for the horn
Wait, Mike, don't move
What?
Look up
This
Is it open?
Is this what we're talking about?
Be careful
I don't want to open this while I'm not wearing a mask
But we have some pests that were in this car
And also the condition, as we can see
Is that this thing has a lot of pollen and accumulated pollen
There's one more thing I noticed and I want to give you
And you can show it to the viewers
Are you ready? It's right back here
I'll get it
And then you can show everyone what it says
Blockbuster, free movie rental
Until 1996
Ok, this has been here for a long time
Unfortunately, Blockbuster no longer exists
What the hell?
I think for everyone who thinks we falsified these videos
This is proof that it is not true
Yes, and there are some mouse bites in it
When I was a kid, I used to go to Blockbuster all the time
Then it changed to Family Video
And now it's a dollar general
So, those good times when you could walk around Blockbuster
And find games and movies you wanted to rent have already gone
And that's just a little piece of the story we found in this car
So, to clean the interior, let's start by removing the seats
That way we can access a lot more
And let's vacuum the floor
Heat
Now, with the seats ready, let's continue cleaning the interior
And if you are wondering what is doing such an incredible job
To make this interior look like new
This is the WD Auto Supply interior cleaner
You can see it in the description below
Heat
And now, for all this satisfactory extraction
Heat
And I couldn't be more excited to work on a vehicle with such a beautiful paint
But my first impression is that there is not much oxidation, which is great
But there are some areas with deeper scratches
As here on the hood
We have some on the front fender here and many on the roof line
Probably as much as in the rest of the car
But, obviously, the roof is black, so it will appear more
So, my goal will be to apply compound in some of the most difficult problematic areas to remove these scratches
And then I will finish with a stage polishing to really make this color stand out
I am very, very excited to put my hands on this because the end result will be amazing
Heat
All right, now it's time to deodorize
And for that we will use a chlorine tablet that we will put in this plastic glass with water
What will happen is that it will bubble and bubble and will release chlorine dioxide
Which will help purify the air and remove any unpleasant smell of mold that has remained
When we finish, we will use an ozone machine to kill any bacteria or mold that has remained in the car
And it must smell very fresh when we finish
Heat
The Pontiac GTO is ready
It was beautiful
And now it's time to try to make it work
So, we have the Power and Performance staff coming to drain the gasoline and see if we can start this car
And I think they should arrive at any moment
And there they are, Tim, Adam
Hey, friend, what's going on?
Yeah, good to see you, how are you?
Oh my God, what do we have here?
Look at this car
How cool, it's a little better than some others we brought for you
Yes, this is very solid
I would like, this color is fantastic
I want a Fender Stratocaster in this color
So, I can buy this car from you or anyone
And I can drive it and play the guitar while I drive
I'm almost sure that at some point this was a car with a vinyl roof
I don't know how many vinyl roofs they made
If this was a common option, you know
Or maybe you had to specify the car to have a rigid roof
But I think it looks great
Yes, it was an option in these cars and this could have been a car with a vinyl roof
Especially with all the finishes and everything
It is very likely that yes, I think
Yes, it was definitely painted
It's an amazing color combination
I love how black and tires match
It's perfect
Yes, and a lot of that, obviously
The painting scheme, the decoration or anything else of a car can really make a big difference
You know, if it were the color of the body, it would look like a totally different car
Now, one of the questions we get a lot in the community post is
If it's a real Ram Air vehicle, how will we know?
Let's open the hood and take a look at the air inlet
Because it has entrances, it's wide open
Do you have an air filter for it?
We have
It's clean and polished there
So, I'm not sure if specifically in these Pontiacs they had a special air filter
That could have sucked the air directly from it
Or had extensions to pull it further forward and feed it into the carburetor
Some cars had things like that, like the Shaker hood and the Mopars
It looks like just a generic air filter there
I'm not sure what a GTO would have with that hood and on top of the engine to make it a real Ram Air
It's a Ram Air hood
That's right, it's a Ram Air hood now, if it's the original car
I can't say that for sure
The good news is that the owner changed the battery
So we don't need to buy one this time
So, it's a new battery
We don't need to use the connection boxes
Well, I hope you don't need to use a connection box
How much it doesn't want to turn
Exactly
We also bought another tool to help us with some of these initializations
Or it will run parts of our videos
And it's a gas extraction tool
No, I mean, it will be useful
Whenever we do that
Yes, we probably should have bought one years ago
Yes
All right, let's extract the old gasoline
So, we take the fuel cap off
Fortunately, the fuel tank is very short in these cars
It's right behind the plate and the tank is right below the trunk
So, let's see if there's gasoline there
We've been through a lot of situations where there was no gasoline
So, maybe this is one of those situations
I think we're out of fuel
That's good, right?
So, conveniently, like many other cars we've had, the tank is empty
So, that means we need to put some fuel here as the first step to make this thing work
All right, so let's take a look while we wait for some new gasoline
Because we know the tank is empty
The first thing we'll do is come here and check the oil
Look, we have a little oil
A little dark
But it's all right for now
This thing definitely needs some work besides just making it work
You can see that some of these wires are exposed
There's a strange wiring here that was kind of disassembled a little
And that's all you're going to want to go through at some point
But for now, we just want to hear this thing working
Hey, hey, Adam
What transmission does this thing have?
I have no idea, but it's automatic
So, maybe a turbo 400
I don't know
Right, what transmission do they use?
Look, we have the transmission rod right there
It's just missing
Look, we have fluid there
Speaking of transmission fluid, this looks like transmission fluid
But it's not
It's WD Detailing Cherry Sueds mixed here at WD Detailing
Take a look at this beautiful product
It may be confused with transmission fluid, but it's not
It's a neutral car shampoo in the color of delicious peach
Back to your video
All right
Do you want to try to start it?
That was good
Oh, is it the alarm?
What is this?
A little white
Is it a windshield wiper motor or something?
I don't really know what that is
It looks like that old cartoon adapter
But it looks like a relay up here
I wanted to know if I could just disconnect it
Speaking of disconnecting
If you want to disconnect and forget all your worries here at WD Detailing
You can use the Purple Rim wheel cleaner
Because it will solve all your wheel problems of your life here at WD Detailing
All right, let's try to start it
Yes, sir
Is it in dead spot?
It is
Well, the gearbox says it is
I'm going to put my foot on the brake
Ready
Go ahead and start it
All right, here we go
Oh, I mean, nothing, nothing
Not even a click
Oh, look at that
Okay, that's all right
It looks like a grounding problem
Because I moved the grounding of the connection package directly to the engine
And it really started
Donuts
Let's hear it work again
Isn't it great?
It looks beautiful
All right, guys
You just saw this car start after standing still for how long?
12 years?
This makes our videos as exciting as possible for us
When we see the cars we work on working that way
But he has some other problems that I'm sure Adam told you
So we called the owner, Bobby
And we asked what he would like us to do
If he wanted us to bring him back
Or if he wanted Adam to diagnose him and possibly fix him
So this is going to be the action plan
And, guys, you did it again
I can't believe it
This worked and it worked very well
This is the best part
It didn't just work
Some of them kind of kept working
Kind of failing and releasing smoke
This turned on and it worked fantastically
I was in a call here and I heard it work
I was jumping up and down the window with it
That said, guys, subscribe to PowerAndPerformance
These guys really help us a lot and they're amazing people
We're very lucky to have met them
