Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey’s new show “Downey’s Dream Cars” was a family affair! The pair’s son, Exton, was featured in the series, which shows how Robert converts six of his classic cars into more eco-friendly vehicles. “I was giving him the education of a lifetime,” Robert told Access Hollywood at the show’s premiere. “I was going, ‘Here is how you’re going to win this scene.’ I’m going to give you this line, then we’re going to face you, then you’re going to turn to camera, and we had cue cards and literally about 40 minutes into it, he knew what he was doing.” The “Iron Man” star went on to say, maybe his son’s natural talent comes from being on set so much. “It might just be in the blood, or it might just be he’s seen his mom working on projects for so long. He’s seen me on set since he was a kid.” “Downey’s Dream Cars’ starts streaming June 22 on Max. #film#entertainment#RobertDowneyjr#actor
Susan, let me, I gotta talk to the wifey first.
Susan, you look great.
Thank you.
How was it like bossing this character on this show?
You executive producer, you the boss, how was that?
You know, I find that when we're making the show,
just let him do what he's gonna do,
and then you get all the control in post-production.
Ooh, I like that, you know why?
Because he can just, I'm watching,
I seen the first episode, Robert.
I seen the first episode, the Thanos thumper.
Yes.
Beautiful, that car is beautiful.
But then when they changed it, it was more beautiful,
and you still hit a donut.
You just hit a donut, and it looks great.
Well, I think back to the idea of making this show,
and a lot of stuff we've been doing lately.
During the pandemic, she was keeping us relevant
with Perry Mason and Sweet Tooth,
and then we did the doc about my dad,
and I kinda hadn't really generated much creativity
for Team Downey for a while, and I was like,
I have an idea, and she goes, great.
If it gets rid of some of these, you know,
macho gas guzzlers you have around,
seeing as how you said you started
this Footprint Coalition, it'd be good.
And we were back east for some of it,
and we were out here, and I got to reunite
with a really close friend of my dad's,
that man right there, Chris Mazzilli.
Yeah, he and my dad go way back,
so it, again, felt like this kinda like family operation.
That's awesome, and speaking of family,
because I saw the trailer,
I know people have been asking about this.
Your son was still in the show.
I mean, I'm watching this, I'm just like,
it's gotta be so cool to have Rapper Downey as your dad.
I mean, I want him to adopt me.
It looks really cool.
Oh, Susie gave a little, ah!
Are you loose cannon, Robert?
I certainly am not.
I was giving him the education of a lifetime.
I was going, let me tell you,
here's how you're gonna win this scene.
I'm gonna give you this line,
then we're gonna face you,
and then you're gonna turn to camera,
and we had cue cards, and literally,
about 40 minutes into it, he knew what he was doing.
So, it might just be in the blood,
or it might just be he's seen his mom
working on projects for so long.
He's seen me on set since he was a kid.
But genuinely, I don't think he cares about anything,
except the fact that he made it to All-Stars Little League.
That is true.
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, recently?
Yeah, the tournament starts in like a week.
Graduated today, put on the UFC.
You should be proud of that.
Yeah, he's at practice right now.
Malibu All-Stars, beware.
I've seen the videos.
Doesn't sound that formidable, does it?
Free crits, free crits.
