Welcome back to my garage. Been a while, much longer than I expected. Sorry, I'm sorry about
that. And thank you for still being here and thank you for still supporting me on Patreon.
And I'm sorry for not, it's okay to take some time off, not so okay to not say, you know,
so I'm sorry about that. Been a couple of rough years. On that subject, BetterHelp is the paid
partner of this video and they're on a mission to make starting therapy easier. Solving your
own mental problems alone is hard and often counterproductive. It's hard being the problem
and the problem solver at the same time. And there's like a haze, like it's hard to see clearly
what's going on. A therapist can help you see things from a different angle and create a safe
space for you to share your thoughts and help you solve underlying problems that you might not even
be consciously aware of. Therapy is a great tool to help you understand yourself and the weird ways
you might behave and how that affects yourself and the people around you. Starting therapy with
BetterHelp is easy. Just fill out the questionnaire and you'll be matched with a therapist in as little
as a couple of days. If you feel like your therapist isn't right for you, you can easily
switch out and try another one and find a good match for you. BetterHelp's therapists are well
qualified and their support team is there to help you if you have questions.
If you're struggling and think you can benefit from therapy, click the link in the description

Thank you, BetterHelp!
There's some trouble with my heater. It seems to not be, not be wanting to ingest fuel.
That's a problem because it's cold. I replaced the filter. As you can see, I'm not using the
this tank because it's dirty and full of water.
So I'm using this and I've been using this for many years now. Well, not the same filter, but the tank.
Could be the pump, but I think more probably it's the
the nozzle. So I'm gonna see if I can have a look at that.
Well, it's probably this being clogged, but I have a feeling I'll have to get a new one
that I can't properly clean this, I think because of the filter and stuff.
And of course, I'm out of brake cleaner. So I'll soak it in acetone for a little while here and
then blow it out with compressed air. And hopefully that helps.
And hopefully this is the problem so we can actually get back to work here now.
too conservative with the feeds and speeds. I noticed some ridges here, almost as if the tool
wasn't as big as it was supposed to be. And so I made a new toolpath with more overlap to fix this.
And I haven't run that yet, because I wasn't going to say we're back in business, because I always do.
And then it turns out we're not. But this time I really feel we're back in business, because
a classic two stroke stuffing mistake. Because the diameter here is also two millimeters off.
And why is that? Well, because in the software this tool is supposed to be 10 millimeters,
but it's eight. So classic two stroke stuffing mistake. Classic two stroke stuffing.
Classic Alex mistake, actually. Easy fix, but I have to go inside and tweak it in the software.
I'm reading like 99.96, 97 max here. But it's hard to, like this is not the most
accurate measuring method. Preferably I want it to be a little bit tight, rather tight than sloppy.
So there's a nasty half cut through little sliver here. I'm just gonna
cut that off before we mount this in the lathe and start turning.
So we won't have like this thin piece flopping around.
So this will be quite a bit of turning before this is flat. Hooray, my tiny little weak lathe.
Well, good thing I didn't cut anymore, because that is,
that's not as tight as I wanted it to be. I think it's tight enough. Now let's see how
terribly off balanced this will be and how long I will have to spend turning this flat.
It's not too bad.
Okay, I'll see you in 10 to 15 hours. Getting this to where it's now clean and straight and all that
took all of yesterday. Took longer than it had to though. And that was my fault. I was blaming the
lathe for being too weak and making me have to take really, really tiny cuts, which I had to do.
But here's the waterfall of chips. This is half of it. The other half is on the other side.
But you can clearly see, this is the beginning. And you can clearly see the point where I switched
out from a dull insert with a favorable geometry for a strong machine to a sharp insert with more
rake and stuff for more suited for my tiny little machine. And you can see the heat generated in the
chips here. You can also see some points where more heat has been generated. And that's where I,
so this is where I broke the tip of the insert and had to flip it.
So that's kind of cool, isn't it? The stories you can read out of this. I've tightened up the
belt as much as I can now. It is the wrong belt, of course, and use some belt dressing,
some sticky spray for it not slip. So hopefully,
the drilling here with the bigger drill bits will go okay.
So this is the plan here. I'm making a mounting plate for my cylinder, the PIP2 cylinder,
so that I can machine the bore, get it ready for plating. This operation will also take a
very long time with my tiny little broken weak lathe. And that's time I don't have today
or this week. But so thanks for watching. And I feel we're backer in business than in a long time.
So crossing fingers, I won't just disappear again. And I don't think so. I don't think so now.
And next week, maybe two videos, at least one. And we'll get this done now. I think
it was probably three months ago, I said I was gonna start machining this. See you next time.
