Ruben Roldan, a parkour athlete from Spain, had his leg amputated at the age of seven after an accident on a tractor. Now, he specializes in free running and set three records in one day with a Guinness World Records adjudicator watching
We challenge one of the world's most extraordinary athletes
to take on three Guinness World Records attempts in one day.
Meet Ruben Roldan from Malaga, Spain.
Despite losing his leg in a tractor accident aged nine,
he has gone on to excel in his chosen sport, parkour.
Parkour has saved my life,
because it has shown me that anything is possible.
With one incredible world record already to his name,
can he add three more?
Ruben competes in our LA1 impairment classification.
This means he is a unilateral above-knee amputee.
Ruben will be attempting the highest running jump onto a platform, LA1.
I have to do perfect steps, perfect strength, perfect distance.
Everything has to be perfect.
So I need to concentrate a lot.
The rules are simple.
Once he's jumped, he must stay on the platform and balance.
On your third attempt, you achieved 1.36 metres.
Congratulations!
You are officially amazing!
Ruben will now attempt the farthest standing jump parkour dash, LA1.
In order to achieve this record, he needs to beat 1.82 metres.
Ruben will jump from one platform and then land using his own hands
and dash over the other side of the barrier.
Ruben has now beaten the minimum.
However, he would like to take the record further.
Ruben will now be attempting the jump at 2.47 metres.
Ruben has decided that he was comfortable at that distance
and now wants to push the record further.
He'll be aiming for 2.66 metres during this attempt.
Ruben has decided to do one more attempt
where he will be upping the distance by 10 centimetres to 276 centimetres.
Now you've just attempted the farthest standing jump parkour dash, LA1
and we started at 1.82 metres
and then attempted again all the way up until 2.76 metres.
And I can confirm, you achieved 2.76 metres.
Congratulations, you are officially amazing!
Next up, Ruben will be attempting the highest vertical leap with a running start.
For this record, we're going to be measuring Ruben's height
and the difference between there and how high he touches on the wall.
In order to achieve this title, Ruben needs to achieve 1.2 metres.
Ruben has decided to increase the height by 10 centimetres.
Ruben has now increased the distance by 5 centimetres and will attempt again.
So we thought that was going to be the last attempt
but Ruben reckons he's got 5 centimetres more in him
so we're just measuring that up now.
Okay Ruben, you've just attempted the highest vertical leap with a running start, LA1.
We started with a minimum of 1.10 metres.
Now you've cleared that height and then carried on up until 1.3 metres.
We weren't quite sure whether you cleared the tape
so we had to go and check the footage.
And I can confirm that you cleared 1.30 metres.
Congratulations, you are officially amazing!
It's true that anything is possible.
You just have to be eager to conquer the world.
It doesn't matter what people say
because you're the one who knows what you can do.
You just need a good attitude to achieve what you want.
