President-elect Donald Trump has said that he will not incorporate his children into his new administration, unlike his first term in office where his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner served as key advisers. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said “It’s too painful for the family, my family has been through hell.” NBC’s Kate Snow reports for TODAY.

Donald Trump returning to the White House for a second term,
but this time around with a smaller entourage in tow.
The president-elect telling Fox News his kids will not serve in his administration.
I said that's enough for the family. You know why?
It's too painful for the family. My family's been through hell.
In his first presidency, Ivanka Trump served as a key advisor,
and her husband Jared Kushner took on a major and controversial role in a number of projects,
including Middle East diplomacy. Ivanka, who has been less present
on the campaign trail than her brothers, expected to keep more distance this term.
She took a hit for going into politics, so she wants to step away.
Trump's youngest child, Barron, is now 18, a 6'7 college student living at Trump Tower
and attending New York University. During the campaign, Barron advised his dad on which podcast
to do. I mean, he tells me about all the hot guys, people I never heard about,
that guy is hot. The author of Melania's unauthorized biography called The Art of Her
Deal says Melania Trump is protective of Barron and doesn't want him in the limelight.
She says it's dangerous, especially after the assassination attempt,
and she thinks he's too young for the rough and tumble of politics.
Since leaving the White House in 2021, Melania herself has rarely appeared with her husband.
There at the convention, but not speaking, and a surprise appearance at that rally in
Madison Square Garden. Please welcome our next commander in chief, my husband, president.
The big unanswered question, will the first lady live in Washington or stay in New York?
I think it'll be very much like it was the last time. When she wants to be in the White House,
she'll be there. But when she didn't feel like it, she just disappeared.
Melania Trump speaks about the mental and physical well-being of children
and may try to reinvent her Be Best initiative.
There is tough, and then there's Trump tough.
Donald Trump Jr. and his fiance, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are widely expected to continue
as surrogates for the president, with Eric Trump managing more of the Trump business
and his wife, Laura, a co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
And don't forget the Gen Z Trumps.
I'm a Trump too.
Trump's granddaughter, Kai, made her debut at the Republican National Convention,
her grandfather beaming.
Ten grandkids right now for Mr. Trump, but there is another on the way. President-elect
Trump announced during a campaign event on October 10th that his daughter, Tiffany Trump,
is pregnant, expecting her first child. We don't know the exact timing,
but guys, there could be a brand new member of the large Trump clan.
Yeah.
Very soon.
A lot of Trumps.
Yeah.
A lot of Trumps, Kate. So that was fascinating. Thank you.
Thank you, Kate.
