In this video, I have explained construction methodology in detail. I have also explained the benefits of construction methodology. Construction methodology is planned for building a structure, considering all legal and contractual requirements, risks, constraints, and opportunities. Construction methodology refers to the detailed plan and approach used to execute a construction project. It outlines the steps, processes, and techniques to be employed to deliver the project safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
What is construction methodology? What are the methods of construction? What are the 7 steps of construction? Which methodology is best for construction? Hello friends, welcome to the channel of Knowledge,
let's learn together. In today's
video, we are going to
talk about construction method. Construction method
is a process. Whenever a builder or
contractor starts a new project, the
clients ask him about the construction method.
In this construction method, there is a
detailed explanation of
how you are going to do this project, what
equipment you are going to use, how much time
you are going to do it, what will be your total procedure, he has to
give all this in detail. So
let's start with the construction method. The
construction method explains a detailed plan and
approach that how you are
going to execute the project.
It has different steps like what
is the process, what are its techniques, which
technical manpower you are going to use,
what equipment you are going to use,
what is its safety plan, what is the budget and
how are you going to maintain the quality standards in it,
all this is explained in it,
what are the points, first of all we will see the
project overview,
what is in the project overview Summary of project, what are the
details of the project, what is
its area, what is its quantum,
all this will be there, objectives, scopes,
timeline and budget, all this comes in the project way,
after that side preparation like site
plan for site clearance, execution
preparation for construction, all this is explained in it,
site logistics, as soon as a
site comes, first of all
temporary
structures have to be erected in it like
store aids, steel aids,
after that go cement go down or labour
hutments, all these temporary structures have to be
erected, steel yard,
project office, central store, quality
control laboratory, all these temporary
structures have to be erected, after that
an organisation chart has to be submitted in the execution team,
like
who will be under the project manager, who will do the billing,
who will do the planning,
senior engineer in execution, junior engineer, after that
who will look after the quality control,
a complete detailed organisation chart of it has to be submitted
in it, after that there is plan,
plant and equipment, which
plants and equipment will be there in it The equipment we are going to use,
like batching plant
or which mixer machines we are going to
use, transit mixer
or after that cranes are going to be
used, which machinery are you going to
use in this project, its
details are there, after that if space is given for labour
hutments, temporary structures, labour hutments, then it is
generally given in the outskirts of the site, so
how much space is there, how are you going to
use the labour accommodation for them, then that living
facility, water arrangement, light,
electricity, all that is there in it, now we
will see construction sequencing,
how the construction sequencing is done in it, that is
also explained, like step by
step plan for construction of project,
scheduling, coordination, architectural
finishing and interior work, such step by
step, now technical details,
what do we give in technical details,
description of construction
techniques, material and equipment,
what are we going to use, list of
tools, plans Equipments, in this we give the list of
plants, types of equipment, its
details, its life,
its capacity, we give all these details.
After that the mechanical
department is completely
responsible for that that the machinery should
run on time, it should be properly maintained
and whenever required it should be
available and it can be used properly.
After that in manpower,
how many labourers are going to be required for the project in that site,
how many manpowers are going to be required,
stage by stage, like
how many labourers will be required in the beginning, how much will be required in peak time,
how much will be required in the end, a
complete detail of that has to be given by making a labour histogram,
in that the strength of labour,
how many are skilled, how many are unskilled, in that there is complete
details, after that construction
schedule and plan has to be submitted,
in this construction schedule there is
a bar chart of the complete project in detail,
in that there is complete quantity wise, manpower wise
detailed explanation, in that there is
complete overview and detailed planning of your project,
after that the most
important is quality.
What is in quality control?
Whatever activity you are doing in that project, it should be done
by maintaining complete quality standards. Plan for
insurance standards should be included in it. It includes inspection,
testing, certification. Testing of
all the material that we are going to use in that project,
certification of
that, standardization of all the processes that we are following,
all of that
comes under quality control. After this, there
is a project manager in quality assurance. He controls both quality control and
quality assurance.
There is a separate department for quality.
Quality in-charge
checks all the quality control and quality assurance. Senior
engineers and site engineers also
contribute a lot in maintaining quality.
Like process, operations, material
testing, all of that has to be checked.
After that, there is detail of site laboratory
equipment. A place is given on the laboratory site.
According to the requirement of the site, if it
is a big site, then a separate place is given for the laboratory on that site. If
you want to install a laboratory there, then you can install it in that. That
laboratory should have all such facilities for
all types of material testing facilities.
As per what is written in the contract, that laboratory should have such facilities. The
quality control engineer will
conduct all the tests in the laboratory and will
maintain all the records.
He will follow all the quality control policies and ASOs completely.
After that comes project monitoring.
We have seen all this. Now it is
very important to monitor all this properly.
So whoever is the planning engineer is
completely responsible
for monitoring the project. Like, is the project
running on time, is it
running as per the schedule or not, are there
any drawbacks in it, do we
need to put in extra efforts in it. From
time to time, he keeps telling the project manager about the
project,
what is its schedule, what are its loop holes,
drawbacks, or where are we
lagging behind, or where do we need to use more
manpower or machinery,
so that the project runs as per its schedule.
For this, he
keeps reporting to the project manager and gives all the
suggestions for the timely completion of the planning.
After that, there is
safety management. Safety management is also very
important. Whatever this project
is, we have to use a completely zero accident policy, which
means that the
work progresses at the site quickly
but there is no accident on the site.
All the safety precautions are
followed properly. All the staff, all the engineers,
all the laborers are informed
that they should work taking full safety precautions.
In this, all the protocols, safety protocols have to be
followed, procedures have to be followed.
Everyone is told and in all these construction
methods, what protocols are we
following, what details are we giving, all this has to be
submitted. Environmental
management includes a plan for minimizing the
project's environmental impact.
What impact does the project have on the environment?
Waste management has to be controlled,
pollution has to be controlled, sustainability
measures also have to be looked at.
After that, there is logistics and supply chain.
Whatever material comes in it,
Where the proper delivery has to be made, where the equipment comes,
all this has to be checked and whenever you
build a structure, first of all a
logistics plan has to be made for it like where your
machinery will be parked, where will the hutment be,
where will the steel yard be, a complete
logistics plan of how you will
do your machinery, your store, your setup,
a logistics plan for it has to be made and submitted.
After that
communication plan, like plan for connecting
with stakeholders including project
team, clients, contractors and public
architects, how do we communicate with all of them,
how do we follow them, sir
rule a communication plan is also made.
Risk management, like
plan for identification,
it has to be minimized,
what is its solution, we have to see,
a plan for this has to be submitted,
after that commissioning and handing over,
after the completion of the entire project, like
plan for testing, commissioning and handing
over the completed project to the client,
all that has to be checked, after doing all the testing,
doing all the servicing, once
with the client as per the checklist. After checking it,
a plan for its cautioning and handover has to be
made. Now this construction method,
mostly where the client consultant and
then the contractor, all three are present or if there is a
PMC, then it has to be made there
and there are more local people in this
construction method, they do not make the complete theory, they
just speak verbally but it is
necessary to make the complete theory and submit the plan. From this, you get a
brief idea of the project, a brief approach of the project.
Now, what are the benefits of making a construction method,
what are the benefits of well defined construction method,
we will discuss about it. First of all,
we get a detailed idea of what are we going to do in project planning like improved project planning and coordination, we get an
idea of coordination, after that, in enhanced
quality control and assurance quality
control, what all policies are we going to
adopt, what all testing are we going to do,
all that detailed idea comes,
after that, increase safety and reduce risk
safety management plan is made. Because of this we
become more careful and
by using zero accident policy in the project
that project is successfully completed on time
without causing harm to anyone. When
this project is completed without any accident,
then after better
communication and stakeholder management
like stakeholder management, communication with them is
also better, they get the
approach or idea of a project,
after that improve project
delivery and reduce costs, by following all these procedures
chances of project completion on time are more
or there is not so much of daily issue,
cost saving through efficient use of
resources and most important project which is
happening should be in our budget which
is in the defined budget and after defining the pro construction in it,
we get to know the complete detailed procedure, in
it mostly we also get an
idea of costing, so whatever cost we have,
it is saved and mostly we
use efficient resources
and There is more cost saving in it, there is more
sustainability and reduction of waste. In this, we
also minimise or reduce environmental sustainability and waste.
Friends, we have seen the construction method
in it. Whatever plan we have, how we are going to
execute the project,
we see the whole approach in it. Now this
construction method is different for every structure
or sector, like the
construction method will be different for a building, it will be
different for a road or infrastructure project, it will be
different for water maintenance or water project. This
construction method is different for every project,
like how you are going to tackle that project
or how you are going to complete it, what
equipment are you going to use,
what manpower are you going to use,
what technology are you going to use, all that
detail idea comes in it.
Along with this, the
planning, scheduling bar chart for timely completion
also comes in the construction method. So,
in short, the
idea of construction method comes in short.
How are we going to do that project or how are we going to
complete it, how much manpower
or machinery is going to be required in it and how much
time is it going to take, so we get a complete idea of how we are going to complete that project by maintaining all the quality
standards and safety standards, so that we get a
complete idea of how you are going to complete the project, so
