Today I'm going to show you how to crochet from the very beginning.
So you'll be able to crochet a square like this by the end of this video.
So let's start. All you need to have for now is just some yarn. I've got cotton yarn
or you can have any yarn you like acrylic cotton and this is a hook which is three
millimeters yeah three millimeters okay but again you can use any size hook you like.
So how do we attach our yarn to the hook? How do we start to crochet?
First we need to make a loop. Take this end of the yarn and make a loop like this.
Then take this end of the yarn and put it through the loop and take it on the other side
and now just tighten the loop by pulling this end of the yarn. Insert your hook and
by pulling this end of the yarn you can tighten this
yarn around your hook. So don't pull it too tight just leave a little bit of space.
Now I'll show you how to chain. Actually before I show you how to chain I'll show you how to hold
the hook. So normally I just take it from the top. Some people hold it from underneath
but I find it very uncomfortable so I hold it this way and the yarn I'll just
put the yarn around my little finger and around my index finger like this
and that will create just the right amount of tension and then to chain I
I'm going to hold this end of the yarn just to pull it a little bit down just a little bit
and my hook goes underneath the yarn first of all in front of the yarn it's not behind the yarn
in front underneath and around and now I'm just going to pull that yarn through the loop
and take it on the other side again so it's in front of the yarn the hook goes underneath
around and inside that loop through the loop and pulling the yarn out of the loop.
So that's our two chains one and two so you'll see the little b's that's chain one
and chain two. So let's chain 11 so we've got two this is three four five six seven
eight nine ten eleven this is our first chain of 11 and normally you would need to chain
an amount of chains depending on what you're making for this purpose we just make a little
square so 11 chains and then we'll I'll show you how to do the next stitch which is called
single crochet and it's a very basic stitch that you would need all the time so we'll
insert our hook into the second not this one but into the second chain from the hook
so this is one two second chain here insert your hook underneath that
top loop again under the yarn around it and grab it and pull it through and take it
through the loop we have two loops now on the hook now again go around and pull it through
both loops so this is our single crochet let's do it again this is our next chain here this one
insert your hook like this grab the yarn and pull it through we have two
loops now on the hook now again yarn over and pull through both loops like this
that's our second single crochet so let's go all the way until the end of the row
inside here pull it up that's our number three single crochet pull through
ten so here you can see your 10 stitches 10 single crochet stitches and they look like
little v's here and here and here also from the top if you look from the top
they look like little v's as well so you can count them from the top or from this side here
so let's just continue and so that was our last single crochet now we're going to chain one
as we did in the beginning chain one turn our work and work on this side so we're going
to crochet into these gaps here in between the stitches and it's really easy to see here
so the first one goes in here so this is our first one single crochet now we're going
as you can see i'm going through this gap under both loops so it's just a little v here on top
so i'm not going like this i'm going under the both loops here grab the yarn and pull through
again rebel yarn and pull through both loops that's our first single crochet on this row
the next one goes into here again that's the little v on top yarn over pull up the loop
yarn over pull through both loops so that's number two let's go until the end of this row
so if you look from the top there is one last stitch here little v so you go on the side here
like this okay that's our last one number 10 again chain one and turn your work and we're
just gonna continue like that all the way so the first one goes into here again that's our very
first gap between the stitches and that's our first one first single crochet one two three
and do it again just like two and we just continue chain one again
if you wanted to make it a little bit bigger you would need to chain a little bit more so now
we've chained actually 11 here you would need to chain imagine this is 11 double the size would be
21 and to get the height that you want you just continue with your rows until you reach the
desired height and so then you will end up after 11 rows with something like that
so we just started this row four this is 11 rows here okay and um yeah so that's how you do
single crochet in the next video i will show you how to do double crochet which is a different
stitch if you like this video let me know in the comments below see you then see you next time
