In This Video, I will give my honest review of one of the worst anime of the Summer 2024 Season Tasuketsu: Fate of the Majority. My content is satire in nature and while it may sound like I disliked the anime it's mostly bad jokes. Season 1 of this anime was released on July 3, 2024. This anime has been given a second cour. This video contains Major spoilers so be aware if you plan on watching the anime. This anime is not currently available in the English dub. #summeranime2024#animereview#LunarEquinox
No, do my eyes deceive me, or is that a floating PNG?
Quickly, someone hit it with another PNG!
Tasuketsu Fate of the Majority is a death game anime that is somehow rated as the worst anime
of the summer 2024 season, which surprises me that it was rated not only lower than an anime
made exclusively for Jamaican men, but an isekai that is 3 minutes and 5 frames long.
So together let's watch, analyze, and complain in a way similar to adults when their 4-year-old
What do you expect me to do, Mildred? We don't carry that one! You want me to start sewing you one in the back?
Oh yeah, spoilers.
This is our protagonist, Saneatsu, and I know what you're thinking.
Yes, he does look like a free Roblox skin.
It was just a normal day at school when a question popped up on his screen.
He, of course, thinks nothing of it and goes home to an empty house since his mom is dead
and his dad is with his white family overseas, but at least he still has his best friend, Ryuta.
Also, was that just 2 frames decreasing in opacity?
He goes to school where the student council president tells him that their families are
all dead and that they're the only ones from their school left, and you can tell
that they're all clearly devastated by this news. So the president creates a decisive plan.
We quite literally got here 5 minutes ago. I feel like there's more to discuss,
you know, with everybody being dead and all. Yeah, but it's like 3pm and Minecraft
Parkour Civilization comes on at 4. Good point.
The next day, the president died.
Suddenly on the monitor, a being calling himself the Emperor says there's only 1
million people left alive in Tokyo, and this Tasuketsu is a game where every day you must
search for the blue post box or red laptop and submit a yes or no question.
The first question that's submitted will be announced at 11.58pm, and at midnight,
the side with the majority of people will die. There are also 65 envelopes that give
special powers that are separated into rites and prime rites.
Finally, whoever is the last remaining person will meet the Emperor.
That was a lot. I hope Saneatsu is handling this well.
Sigh.
Meanwhile, one of the students finds a gun on the ground,
which I don't appreciate them appropriating my culture, my culture is not your costume.
But let's just call him Virginia and not look into that joke too much.
What? I knew he was Asian, but this?
Ha, joke's on you. You're trans.
Well, more like a Barbie doll.
Protagonist kick!
Okay, let's break down that scene real quick.
They are running with their pumped up kicks when Saneatsu sees Teacher there to save them.
In this moment, his panda-like survival instincts kick in,
and he starts walking away from the shooter.
After protagonist kick, it cuts to them in the car and it's night time for some reason.
Anyways, from this point onwards, I'll use these flawless drawings to demonstrate the teams.
The time for the next question has come.
Wait, they're alive? Wow, this subverted my expectations.
That's not a yes or no question.
Oh god!
Omi is the owner of the prime right to rejection, meaning he can reject anything,
including taking part in Tatsuketsu, people attacking him, even tipping at fast food restaurants.
So the day after everyone died, he entered a question.
That's not a yes or no question.
Oh god!
While he was doing this, he was attacked by Peggy until...
That is not what Sound the Taser makes, but this is my favorite moment of the show.
Peggy somehow fell and cut her artery on the steel pipe, and this woman who tased her was like,
Oh, you have character design? Here is a power that may or may not to save you.
And that's how they...
They really fell in love within 10 minutes of screen time together.
I haven't seen that type of speed run since middle-aged men in third world countries.
Suddenly, another question appears.
This is when the hero of the story arrives.
He doesn't last long.
Virginia appears in front of Saneatsu, telling him that he killed the girl who was also there
in the beginning nobody noticed for submitting that kill all men question.
So Virginia allows him to ask a single question.
What are you, a liberal?
This is your one question you want to ask?
I meant, how did you invert your balls?
Well, it's actually more like a Barbie doll, but that was the correct question.
Virginia has the prime right of obtainment,
meaning when he obtains an object, he can guarantee its number and availability.
He also says the difference between rights and prime rights are prime rights are absolutes,
but to obtain them, you must lose a healthy body part.
Why didn't you choose your fingernails, hip dips?
Even your left ass cheek would have been better.
Speak for yourself.
Normal rights, on the other hand, are much weaker,
and if you have enough willpower, you can simply say, nah.
The final thing Virginia says is that there's a traitor in the group.
It's the teacher.
It tells us not even seven minutes later.
Teacher and Yugi are working together because they want Omi for his prime right of rejection.
Suddenly, Saneatsu shows up saying I knew you were the traitor
because of things that happened off-screen.
So like any great villain, Teacher starts explaining his powers.
He has the prime right of visualization, letting him easily find postboxes.
So why didn't you do that earlier?
What do you mean?
Remember when we died?
You could have stopped that by finding the box first.
And he has the prime right to summon Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
Yeah, okay.
Action scene.
That was a still frame, but it looks like it's all over for Saneatsu.
He's about to be killed by William Afton.
No way!
Is that Ryuta?
And the president?
Man, I can't wait till they ask how they survived and if they faked their death and why.
Oh, we're not gonna ask that.
Okay.
I can accept that the president lied and never died, but how did Ryuta survive?
I don't care if he has the prime right of fusion.
You see that?
He looks pretty fused to the afterlife here.
Yeah, okay.
Future Lunar here.
I have rewritten so many details of this video while editing because despite how I'm describing
it, this anime is so convoluted.
They keep saying, I'll explain it later, but never bother to explain it later.
But here's what I think happened.
When Omi did the dead or alive thing, it revived everyone, not just those who died from the
male or female question.
And these two managed to survive the next question that happened 10 minutes later somehow.
But wouldn't that also mean their families came back to life?
I don't know, man.
This show gives me a brain aneurysm.
Wow, crazy that you forgot about the most important character, old man.
Side rant.
Remember how there are 1 million people alive in Tokyo?
We have seen a grand total of three of them.
I mean, four of them.
The only indicator that there are other people alive is when lights get turned on in the
distance, which I don't like because only Americans refuse to leave their homes in national
emergencies, so I don't appreciate them appropriating my culture.
Peggy then takes them to a woman who says they must kill Mido and Rin because they're
bad people who want to kill everyone.
And for some reason, they agree, then leave.
This is when we're introduced to a character that was clearly taken out of Beyblade, Gobo.
He has the display right, which allows him to display stuff.
The emperor makes an announcement that the game will change.
Now voting will go exclusively through red laptops, and I know what you're thinking.
Why does this matter?
Nobody is playing the death game.
They're just kind of hanging out and stabbing each other in the back like a high school
girl's friend group.
And spoilers, this won't be changing anytime soon.
Rin, you know, that person they're supposed to kill, shows up to take Omi, which is when
our team breaks every rule of anime by doing something unexpected, lying.
Sure, we'll give you Omi, just tell us everything you know.
Okay.
All owners of prime rights came from a detention center where they were experimented on and
given prime rights in an attempt to create the emperor.
Except Virginia.
He cut off his balls for fun.
All right, guys, let's get out of here.
Oh, you guys.
You guys got me good.
Meanwhile, Virginia, Teacher, and the other guy they're supposed to kill all collide.
No, Virginia.
Hey, here are my notes.
Now go back and join the good group because you aren't a bad guy.
I'm not?
Well, I didn't know that.
My bad.
So Teacher, Yugi, and Peggy all joined the good guys.
Wow, the whole gang's back together and I can trust you even though you tried to kill
me two episodes ago.
The note that Virginia left behind, wrong note, said that the emperor is a human who's
basically all for one.
He has the right to collect rights from deceased rights owners.
Two years ago, there was a mass escape from the Diddy Dungeon, which is why members had
prime rights before the game started.
This is why the emperor is doing the entire game so that he can collect all of their powers.
Saneatsu's dad was also a scientist there and escaped with the one right that could
stop the emperor, the prime right of parental authority.
This right makes it so that any minor that is looked at and declared custody over will
and I have absolutely nothing to say about that, not a joke, not a quip, not even a jest.
It's assumed that Saneatsu has this ability and his father planned a hitman to hit him
with a car as a child, hospitalize him, then force him to take a prime right while incapacitated
even though his mom would die in the process.
I guess he didn't think of asking nicely or pushing his son out of a tree.
They then lure out Mido so he can info-dump even more.
The emperor is 12, there are 666 rights with most of them being owned by the emperor, he's
in a big tower with zombies outside and Mido has the right to inheritance so when the emperor
dies he will snatch away all of his powers, which once again I don't appreciate them
appropriating my white culture.
Then Ren shows up and I know it's you, my very intelligent viewers, thinking, this
clearly evil man is in front of the guy who we assume has the parental right of authority
so why don't we use it on him so that 1.
We can actually check that he has the ability since we don't know and 2.
We control the bad guy.
Instead he gives them 4 letters that all have commands written on them that force whoever
reads them to perform that action.
So I guess he's a good guy now?
Oh also 4 random people join but don't worry I'm sure nothing bad will happen to them.
Here's the plan, they break into groups, group A and B go to deactivate the electricity.
While it's down, group C flies up to the top floor to confront the emperor.
And you guys…
Oh I know we need someone to distract the zombies but don't worry this is the least
dangerous job and very necessary.
Why are we leading them away if you're just gonna fly up and seal the entrance?
Just go distract the zombies.
Let's see how group A is doing.
No!
Fuck!
Tom!
Joe!
Phillip died!
Ah I love that guy, he was a member of the team.
Let's see how the zombie group is doing.
No!
Fuck!
Tom!
Joe!
Danny died!
Ah I love that guy, he was a member of the team.
Eventually group C makes it to the door where just on the other side is the emperor.
No!
Is this…
Is this a door?
Guys it's over, we can't get past this.
Yeah yeah is this thing on?
I'll let you guys in if you give me your parental right.
The hell you mean you agree?
This guy has the ability to merge with anything and break through.
The emperor lets them in and says let's take one final majority vote.
What are we supposed to say?
Seal team six?
Oh my bad we did have a name.
The emperor then entered the final question.
Now you would assume that they had some genius plan to come out on top and beat the emperor.
Nope.
Here's what happened.
Gobo used his right to display to display the command die which Rin gave them earlier,
then he dies.
The end.
When I tell you I let out a comical joker laugh from hit movie Joker,
I'm not joking.
I will now give you three better ways to defeat the emperor.
Option one, hand him the letter and tell him to read it.
Option two, do the same plan but 30 seconds earlier.
Or option three, don't make a team name or give it to him and shoot him with a gun.
Oh and then Rin killed Mido so he wouldn't inherit the powers.
Did I forget to mention there's a second core that I will not be watching when it comes out?
That was a lot of information I just threw at you.
And believe it or not that was the condensed version of 10 episodes.
The pacing is without a doubt out of all the flaws the biggest one.
It felt like a speed run of information that never gave me enough time to digest it.
Normally I, trigger warning, watch anime in 2x speed or 4x speed before they killed Annie Wave,
R.I.P.
But this anime not only did I watch it in normal speed, but I paused almost every sentence.
And I get it's a talking anime,
but even anime like the Monogatari series I could keep up with better than this.
Because of the pacing all moments where they attempt to build tension all fall flat.
Not to mention I was constantly confused.
I had to look up explanations for 72% of the anime.
Thank you Hachim 13i, you were my light in the darkness.
But let me let the anime explain it itself.
Hmm that wasn't clear enough.
Let's try again.
It's confusing because of the way that the anime is structured.
The characters know information that we don't even have access to,
so the most intelligent mind couldn't come to the same conclusion that they did.
For example, they never told us what commands were inside of the letters until after it happened.
Then they hit you with the classic line,
You didn't know?
No, because nobody knew!
The second problem is the death game itself is kind of ass.
I'm a big fan of the death game genre, but the problem with this one is no one is playing it.
They put a letter in the box a total of one time,
The only reason they look for boxes is to set up the other conflicts.
The whole Tasuketsu managed to kill no on-screen main characters other than
old man and I guess these two if you want to count them.
The game just created unanswered questions, like where are all the other people?
I can only think of three background characters that appeared,
like these two kind looking individuals.
I hope they don't say anything weird.
You know, Japanese people.
The third problem was the characters.
Most of their flaws were greatly affected by the pacing,
since none of them had any time to develop into actual characters.
Except Virginia for some reason.
Since they had no time, the moment they ran into other people,
they would start character exposition dumping.
Oh, my trauma started 10 years ago.
You don't just trauma dump on strangers.
Once again, stop appropriating my culture.
The characters constantly switch between good and evil every other episode,
which would be fine if their switches ever made sense.
Peggy, for example, was going to kill this child when she first saw him.
But what possible thing could have happened to make her
no longer want to beat kids to death with steel pipes?
You really can't make that up.
This part is a bit subjective because to call characters stupid is unfair
because I'm not the character and complaining about it is inconsequential.
But I'm gonna do it anyways.
These bitches are brainless.
They're supposed to be very smart individuals.
If I had a dollar every time Saneatsu said,
I'd have enough to buy a rope.
They always ask the bare minimum of questions.
It's like they purposely don't ask questions
so that the viewer barely learns enough to slightly understand what's happening.
Notice how Light didn't say,
Secrets are the key to these situations.
They only lied a single time and I was thrilled when they did.
I thought this must be how Disney adults feel when they see a mouse in their house.
It's me, Mickey Mouse!
Free me, please!
That is a moving two-dimensional PNG and they forgot to edit out the corner.
The fourth problem is the animation,
which I won't complain about too much since it's not an action anime.
Oh wait, yes it is!
I wasn't expecting superb animation,
but I would prefer more than PNGs moving across my screen.
But the worst thing to me is still the editing in this one moment.
Why did they edit all of it on beat except the last one?
Now, let's be fair to the show.
I did see a few people commenting on my last video
that this was one of their favorite anime from the season
and I think representations of all groups is important.
To start, I'm 90% certain that this anime got a berserk level adaptation.
The series was ranked in the top 10 manga that people wanted animated
at Anime Japan 2019 and 2020,
alongside things such as Spy Family, Chainsaw Man, and
I wished I could know if it was a bad adaptation,
but the source material doesn't have an English translation.
Also, I could just be wrong about 90% of the anime
because of how confusing everything was.
I'm not even sure if my synopsis was accurate.
I do think that Tasuketsu has a sick concept and the power system is very cool.
I know the whole special abilities are actually human desires
is a pretty common concept, but I still like it.
I don't know who wished to blow up or wanted complete control over minors
and do you think there's a right to fertility?
Just BAM, pregnant.
The game idea was really cool because if you choose to put a slip into the post box,
then you are essentially responsible for mass murder,
but if you don't, you could die.
So what kind of questions could they ask to survive
and kill off the fewest number of people possible?
But you know, none of that happened.
The show did get better as it continued
and it was most likely review bombed after people saw the first episode,
but that's what earned it its spot as the worst anime of the season.
So my last question to you is,
did you enjoy the anime?
