hey guys welcome back to the channel in
this video we will be talking about
these
these little usbs that we spoke about
previously in our last video
where we actually took this where is it
where we took this little plate over
here with
these plastic rings and we tried to get
it to work but
it didn't work as most of you guys
should hopefully know
but yeah in this video we'll be talking
about these things and a little bit more
about this
and also some of the books that we got
so let's start the video
[Music]
okay guys so as i said we will be
looking oh finally dropped it we will be
looking at our little usbs over here and
we'll be looking at
what is actually on them because as i've
said i have no idea what is on them i
just have a general idea
now as i said in our last video we took
this plate and we tried to make
the little rings around it that make
pots like this in the background
if you guys remember that previous video
if you haven't checked it out make sure
that you do check that video out
after you watch this one but we we're
going to put the rings around here so we
can make little squares which means that
we can
make our own type of net pots now a
couple of you guys
said that i should turn the plates
around and use these pins at the back
now the thing about this is that these
are literally just
the screws that hold the circular pieces
here at the top
together and these circular pieces i
think they're
like australian scents like they're
i realized today i was actually looking
at them like up close and i see those
says like australia on them
and there is some greening on them which
means that it's probably copper or
something
but yeah this is actually australian
money on here
so that's pretty cool i guess so yeah
anyway this round bit here is
necessary um for the pvc rings because
this run but gives you
the square obviously because it's a
square shape but it gives you that
rounded corners that you normally get
with square putts
if i were to use the back side here
these actual pins
firstly the pvc rings would be going on
the nuts at the back
which means that the corners would be
jagged and not symmetrical even at all
and also even if i did put the rings on
the back
the rings are still too small
essentially to put onto the pins here at
the back
it's it's meant for the top here and
this is as i said it's
it's it's literally like this guys so
just wanted to let you guys know
so that you understand that i did
actually really try
but i found out that i do have a big pot
i really thought that that part that i
was doing
using was the biggest one i have i have
a much bigger pot so we will definitely
do this again guys i don't know why i
didn't
i didn't even think about it i didn't
even know that i had a bigger pot but
it doesn't matter let's now take our
little usbs and let's see what's on them
okay guys and now let's open up this
little cassette
holder with our usbs inside so our first
usb that we will look at is this one
here
number one um just because it's number
one
let's put it in let's see what they've
got okay so i've just opened up the
usb now and it looks like we have yeah
we have eight videos over here
on the usb and everything else looks
like
pictures so we have
a lot of pictures that we have in here
guys
and obviously all these pictures are
pictures of plants and other things that
he's seen
throughout the video so let me open up
these videos and see
what exactly is going on here okay
so i've gone through all of the
different videos and the pictures
on this usb here and i'm not going to
show it all to you guys because there's
a lot of footage and a lot of pictures
but i will include a couple of these
stills that he actually
put onto this usb so you guys can see
exactly what he saw
in these videos too and yeah it's
essentially him
literally walking throughout this park
here and looking at all the different
plants that are around there all the
you know the wildlife and the nature and
all the different
like buildings or different
interesting landmarks i guess that you
can find
while walking with him here so it's a
super interesting video
and as i said before if you guys do want
to check out some of his videos like
this
make sure that you check him out on
youtube his channel name is
wretched davian so you can very easily
go to his channel and actually watch
these videos for yourselves so what
we're going to do now is we're going to
take usb1 out
and we're going to see what's on usb
number two
number two oh it's on both sides okay
now let's see what's in number two
imagine we just had like
one million dollars in cryptocurrency on
this thing guys that would be insane
but we're not all that lucky so let's
see what we have on here so i just
opened it up now it looks like we have
more videos the videos that's like a
continuation of the videos that are on
usb number one
and a lot of pictures
on this usb as well guys so definitely a
lot of pictures and a lot of videos to
actually go through
so i'm not as i said i'm not gonna put
these videos
onto this video that i'm busy recording
right now because in this video would be
like
an hour or so long and these are the
same videos that he posts
on his youtube channel and it's super
super interesting stuff you know
obviously
the native wild carnivorous plants
native to australia
he's looking at them all in his state
southern australia
so it is super super cool to check that
out so now that we've actually gone
through
the two usbs and we know what's on them
let's now look at some of the books that
we actually got guys
okay guys so that is it for the usbs as
i said
i did think that there may have been
some other things there
that i could obviously show you guys a
little bit more of but of course we have
some videos there and pictures
exactly as he said so yeah that's
exactly what we got some videos and
pictures and as i said i
can't put them on to the video here
because i could get copyright strikes
and
all of those other silly things like
that because no one really knows how the
youtube algorithm works that well so
got to do what we got to do but anyway
let's now look at the actual
books that we received in the mail so we
have
six different books essentially that we
got from wretched david in the mail
and the first one we will look at is
this yeah this is
condo this book here obviously if you
can read japanese you'll know exactly
what to say is maybe say something like
carnivorous plants of the world i don't
know because i don't speak japanese
but this is a picture book a picture
color book
from i forgot already like about yeah
about 40 or so years ago
and this is gonna this is gonna be super
super interesting for us to actually
look at because
it is literally a book full of color
picture plants
of all the different colors plants that
you can find in the world now that is
the condo book
we have two national geographic books
obviously
like i said before they're quite old and
i know you guys laugh at me when i say
that
but these books are from 1989 and this
one here from 1964.
so this one's about 40 years old and
this one's about
60 or so years old so i mean in my
opinion that's pretty old
but obviously you guys beg to differ so
we will open these up i have
actually not opened these up at all they
are still
in the same wrapper that i received them
in because i just want to make sure that
they stay protected because
obviously these are super super cool um
books and i don't want
to mess them up and then the last three
articles basically that we got
is the canvas plant newsletter of
australia you guys in the in america you
have the canvas plant newsletter
that's it just newsletter in australia
is of australia
so yeah pretty similar names and we have
two trevor park
news um two trumpet park news
articles as well which will be super
super interesting for us to actually
look at
so let's firstly start off with the
condo book like i originally stated now
i know some of you guys may find this
video a little bit boring because we're
just looking at books but i think it is
quite important and interesting
to actually look at some of these you
know books and whatever
canvas plans back from quite a few years
ago to actually compare how different
things are now compared to them
because obviously everything's pretty
pretty easy basically these days
if you want to see how an appendix looks
you just google it literally
maybe back 40 years ago when smartphones
weren't really a thing
where dial up internet was actually
quite difficult to actually access and
not everyone had it or even a computer
and there wasn't
anything really like google it may have
been very difficult for people to
actually
find out how these plants looked
especially in color and
a book like this would have been
basically super awesome for someone who
wants to see how all the different
canvas plants may have looked
so what i will do is that i'm just going
to show you guys a couple of the
different pages
maybe we'll look at each of the
different species i mean all the
different genuses are the canvas plants
in this book
so that we can actually spend enough
time going through each book and we
don't spend the whole video only on one
so because it is a japanese book in
japan you read from right
to left like this so that's why it's
drastic on the right hand side
and then you have utricularia all the
way on the left but if you do open it
from the left to the right you do get a
load of
little bit of english see over here just
some information about the plants
but it's really what we're here for is
to look at the actual plants themselves
and just to let you guys know
i'm pretty sure that this book has also
been signed
by the actual um writer the authors of
the book
as you can see right there the two
signatures of mr condo and his i think
is his brother as well
so that's super super cool guys anyway
let's look now
at some of these pictures over here if
you can read japanese
let me know what this says because i
can't but it looks like looks like the
activity of
the trap of the venus flagshop while it
closes which
that's pretty cool and you can see a
nice venus flashlight picture over here
and to be honest in my opinion this is a
really high quality picture
um especially like printed out like this
this this is literally like a picture
that's
if you were to post on the facebook
group these days it literally looks that
high quality that you wouldn't even know
that this picture was maybe taken 40 or
so it just shows that even back then the
the camera quality was actually pretty
good
you know as a kid growing up you watch
the sports and tv and you just see
pixels everywhere
so where were those cameras back then
you know i'm trying to watch something
on tv and everything's just pixelated
but here in this book we have
really good pictures which is crazy so
here is some
some more drastic pictures drastic
falcon area over here on the left
drastra erythro iris
guys i can't speak on the ratia these
are tuberous structure
they look really really cool some more
drastically it looks like a pygmy on the
right here
and drastra linearis on the left
super good pictures guys i'm very
impressed with how this looks so
i can understand why richard david says
that when this first came off the press
everyone was super excited at the at the
quality of it
i'd like i definitely understand now
because these pictures are really really
good
here is drostera regiae the world's
biggest sanji over here so hopefully you
guys can see
the main picture itself of the actual
drastra
is a little bit more pixelated or lower
resolution
than the picture of the flowers up here
at the top um
i hope that you guys can tell what i'm
trying to say but it looks like they may
may have had different cameras for the
different for the different pictures
because
as i said the main picture doesn't look
as
clear as the picture of the flowers and
also something that i just realized guys
is look at the type of pots that they
are growing the droso rija in
those are terra cotta pots now some of
you guys who
know about drost regime the king sanju
you guys know that they actually don't
mind you know having minerals and
fertilizers in the soil obviously not
too much
like what we did we killed ours because
we were idiots
but you can actually grow them in terra
cotta pots obviously
and if you do want to grow your dresser
reach our enough terracotta pot you
definitely can
so yeah that's just something i just
realized right now here's some nice
pictures of
some sarah senior you can see the
flowers over there
that sarah senior purple ray of flowers
and obviously the plants next to it
and here are some nice pictures of
different appenties
here we have the pentius truncata
and here the plenty stereo
cephalotus guys for albany pitcher plant
native here to australia on the left we
have bubbles
gigante some cool pinguicular
pictures here of their flowers
pinriculars are actually fertilized or
pollinated sorry
by hummingbirds so some of their
different flowers
are quite long for the actual tongue of
a hummingbird or even the
hummingbird moth to have their tongue
reach all the way
into the flowers here we have some
utricularia some cool traps over here
so very cool traps and more utricular
picture pictures over here
the nice red utricularia culture on the
right
and poly pump phlox multifidia i
i've never heard of that before guys but
yeah essentially
as i said this is a color picture book
of the different canvas plants
and that's exactly what it is it is
super super cool super nice
pictures from you know about 40 years
ago of all the different plants
and it's super cool to actually go
through them and see them
and i haven't done much reading on this
book because i've been quite busy with
quite a few other things
but i am very excited to actually sit
down with this book and go through
all of the pages one by one even though
i can't really read japanese it'll be
super super cool to see the pictures
okay next up we will look at the canvas
plant newsletter
of australia so wretched davian told me
that this was
this is an original um newsletter
but the only difference between this one
and the other copy that he has because i
think he said he has two or three copies
of this but that this one just doesn't
have the names of all of the members
so obviously it's not a massive
difference but it's still unoriginal
it's super super cool
so we will as i said just go through
this really really quickly with you guys
so you know what's actually inside
of one of the very first newsletters
that ever came out this is obviously
anastasia
volume number four so the fourth one and
it was published in
march of 1980 so that was
exactly 40 years ago so we have a nice
editor's information on the left some
stuff from the editors of the cpn the
letterbox on the right
i have read this one already so i'll
just tell you exactly what's going on
here
this is a very very cool concept that
people
within australia they send the letters
to the cpn the converse plant
newsletter people they send letters to
them talking about different subjects
that may have been in previous issues so
there may be a question in a previous
volume
and you can then reply to it and mail it
off to the cpn and then they put your
answer
or any other questions that you may have
or different ideas or thoughts about the
plans
you can send it off to them and they put
it inside of this this book which is
super super cool
so that's what that's what this book
here um
is doing that this section is explaining
to us and that goes on for about
two pages then you have an article over
here saying the names of the panties and
cultivation
and what this is essentially is
explaining where the different names of
the nepenthes
actually comes from like the origin of
the names and why some of them are named
in specific ways
which is obviously super super
interesting too here
we have an article on all the different
types of saracenic species how they look
like how they grow
where they're native to all of that
interesting stuff like that
just talking essentially about you know
just the general information
which obviously you could just do a
google search these days
you know back 40 years ago you would
have this book or this this newsletter
to give you all this information
which is super super cool because even
back then you guys didn't even have
youtube
and obviously you couldn't watch a video
on the different types of sarasota
species too so
it's very very interesting more sarasota
species and he has a beginner's page
so obviously if you have just started us
looking after your canvas plans
you can come and look at the beginner's
page and see exactly
how to look after in this instance
cephalotus and
you can figure out how to grow your
plants and the very cool thing
that this article actually shows us
is how they used to grow plants before
i have been told by ratchet davian how
growing cannabis plants over the over
the years from when he was growing them
when he was younger
is that things are very very different
now since then to now it's so different
because back then was like
grow your plants in this way here's the
information how to look after it
but the information we have these days
is slightly different so having
something like this
is super super interesting to actually
see the differences between
what we know now versus what we know
back then okay guys i don't want to
spend too
long on this either but we have some
tips here on tuberous drastra from mr
alan lowe
lowry and we have a seed bank over here
and we have plants and seed sources so
essentially people who are selling
plants
and how we can collect gemma from pygmy
drusters by mr
andrei hovath he has a little device
over here which is super super cool
you just suck it in and then you can
collect the pygmy drawstrings gemma
which is
super cool i've actually seen it a
couple of times so this is a little
diagram of actually how to do it
some cartoons carnivorous plants author
like talking about the author and at the
back it's the trading post so you can
send off saying i'm looking for this i
have this
whatever so this is super super cool to
actually have guys
and to see the differences between all
these things okay guys so we still have
two of the catalogs from triford news
and we still have the two national
geographic books
i don't want to have this video going on
for too long because there's
quite a lot but if you want me to look
at each and every article or thing
individually
let me know in the comments below
because then i can very easily
do one video dedicated to each and every
book if that's what you guys are looking
for but i don't really think you guys
would want me to just do one video just
talking about a book
so that's why i'm just going over these
things pretty quickly with you guys
the price for some of these things guys
carnivorous plants by charles darwin one
thousand dollars
cannibis plants of australia volume one
by allen lowry one
thousand dollars guys
the price for some of these books
carnivorous plants by be juniper and rj
robbins and dm joel
2 500
yo maybe i should write some books guys
damn guys tell me if i should write a
book because if i
if i can make like two thousand dollars
from writing a book i'll do it
yeah anyway guys as i said i'm not gonna
go through the other one because it's
basically the same stuff
but now let's go through the super old
national geographic book
and guys don't be offended i'm just
saying it's old because i'm young
so we will go through this book here the
one from 1964.
as i said it is about 56 years old down
1964 so around this
whatever so here we go guys
this is so cool i even feel like the
actual
size of the book is a little bit smaller
than a4
yeah you see what i'm saying but even
this is bigger than a4
but let's see i have not opened this so
i've just opened it now with you guys
for the first time
so the first thing we have are
advertisements guys nothing has changed
in the past 60 years
so we have some advertisement
advertisements for hamilton electric
guys
so now all of the 200 people watching
this video
hamilton electric is for you what's up
now more adverts
here we go mr lena carmenko phd
more clever words so he's a society's
vice president for reach
research and exploration probably here
at national geographic
we have another advert and another two
pages of adverts
and another another advert okay i'm just
gonna find a page that doesn't have an
advert for you guys
let's try that okay guys so there are
mainly adverts in this but like a kind
of a mixture of an advert some quite
interesting things so
advert advertising kind of stuff
but what i did do is that i randomly
opened up to a random page
and i'm pretty sure this is a reason why
mr richard david actually has these
books and shared with us
because there is an article in canvas
plants i honestly i just randomly opened
it up and i came to it so
i got very lucky it says malaysia's
giant flowers
and insect trapping plants by paul
azal who has a phd and is a national
geographic senior staff who is
also a natural scientist so yeah this is
very very cool let me see a little bit
more on it
yeah there's a lot in it so here we can
see the actual mountains that he went to
and here is a picture of the ampullaria
on the right with an ant and a lady over
there looking at the actual ampullarias
so they're about the size of an egg
making it a little bit bigger than the
size of an egg but this super cool
plants to actually have
and i wish i could actually have them
and he shows you here
his trip that he took on the airplane
but essentially
there's just more ratings there and here
you can see them
drinking out of then append these
pictures i wouldn't do that because
there's
like bugs and whatever in there but you
can see all of the
dried up insects that have been caught
at the bottom left and some more
pictures of the actual plants
this looks like what is this oh okay
yeah okay i thought
i thought it was nepenthe's rafflesiana
but it's
it's this big flower the world's biggest
flower which smells really bad i've
heard but yeah you can see how big it
actually is that guy can feel his head
inside of that flower
and it's just more about the expedition
and finding different plants and whatnot
so super cool stuff this actually looks
like a little veloso that they have over
here on his hand
yeah it is a veloso super interesting
just grab a plant out the wild like that
and here's some more so that's
essentially all that i'm going to talk
about there's there's a couple more
pages in here
talking about the canvas plans which i'm
not really going to go into with you
guys because
as i said these kind of videos may be
quite boring but as i said also
if you guys want to see more of them let
me know but this concludes all of the
stuff that we got in the mail from mr
wretch david
once again reggie david thank you so so
much for all of this awesome stuff i
really appreciate this it is super cool
to have
some of these old books some of these
newsletters that condo book
as well sending us this new way of
making some net pots for us
sending us usbs of all your different um
videos and pictures that you've taken
and sending us those other pictures and
those um slides that you've also sent to
us the 3d slides
and obviously the seeds thank you so so
much for everything that you've sent to
us
i really appreciate it and it's super
super awesome to have these things
and i'm very glad to actually share this
with you guys watching this video
so if you guys enjoyed this video please
remember to leave a like and if you want
to see more of these types of videos let
me know in the comments
and don't forget to subscribe and i
really hope that the next video that i
can do for you guys
is an update on our plans because i keep
saying i want to update you guys because
the plans are going really well right
now
but i have not actually had a day where
it's quite sunny and there's no noise
outside because the neighbors are like
they're like renovating their house or
something like with the with the um
with the grinder they're taking all the
sand off and yo guys but the plants are
looking super super good so
i'm really really do want to do an
update for for you guys so make sure you
subscribe to channel
anyway this is quite a long video now so
i'll see you guys in the next episode
[Applause]
[Music]
you
