The Neema cheetah family with a big male Tompson's gazelle for dinner. the takedown happened as we were approaching the sighting so although I saw the whole thing I was not able to capture it on film. These cheetah cubs are now all independent and named Noma (M), Nariku (F), and Nagol (F). Neema herself is doing well too

About Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos: The purpose of the channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day. hello everybody
you're not rock the ranger because i am
there's some animals let's go have a
look at some more wildlife
yes
is
every tree
uh
um
this
wow
oh
uh go for them
[Laughter]
unfortunately it was all a bit too fast
to get the catch on camera
the thompson's gazelle and male
thompson's gazelle is what they're
feeding on
uh
what
oh
come on
hello
[Music]
hmm
hmm
um
um
[Music]
oh
number one
is
[Music]
now
okay
uh
hmm
uh
hmm
uh
thank you
uh
that took so long to
get
sorted
new setup on the car here hello
everybody
there's some cheetah eating
so what we've got is the
name a female cheetah in the three cubs
eating a gazelle
they caught a couple of minutes ago
unfortunately it's all a bit too fast to
get the catch on camera
thompson's gazelle male thompson's
gazelle is what they're feeding them
and we can't zoom in any further than
that otherwise the video quality will be
terrible
it's about as far as i can get
okay
sorry guys
yes
there there we go
controls on this camera very sensitive
sorry
we'll leave it like that for now i won't
fiddle with it anymore
okay
hmm
yeah she's done a very good job today
cups are now
um
for nearly a year and a half old
almost almost to the age where they're
going to start becoming independent in
the next couple of months
um
huh
we saw them this morning this family
they were
looking extremely lean it would be
very good for them there you can see the
horns the antelope
thompson's gazelle
it's a good meal
excuse me
[Music]
question
oh hello rocky
and hello everybody else that may have
joined since i last spoke
i'm not speaking too much today because
the camera is in an awkward position you
need to see what you're asking and try
and keep up with what's going on in the
meantime just enjoy the animals feeding
in the sky um
it's a bit it's a bit hot behind us
really how they might come out when it's
a bit cooler
along with the cubs stay together once
uh they'll leave their mother in the
next couple of months they usually stay
together for a couple of months after
they leave the mother if it's males i
think there's two males here
and
i'm not 100 sure
um but they will stay together
usually their whole lives females go off
on their own
females are very solid tree unless
they've got cups
oh
oh
um
oh
yes
how quickly the vultures and or
scavengers start showing up it will
depend on many many situations i saw one
vulture flying over a minute ago but
it's not come down at the moment we've
just had rain since last
few days
for about a week before that it was very
very dry there were a lot of
cattle and goats and sheep dying on the
edges around the edge of the reserve so
most of the scavengers have been really
really full
so
they're not
particularly interested at the moment
maybe a bit later and when the hyenas
cannot
might come over here but uh we had a
buffalo die
in the camp
last week
obviously we moved it out the council
didn't smell but where it's been lying
we haven't seen a single vulture irons
are coming at night feeding a little bit
we haven't seen a single vulture
but we are seeing a lot of vultures
around they're just not coming
to things in the reserve at the moment
yes it is good there's no highness
around that's that's why they they
prefer to hunt um sort of early morning
later in the afternoon when other
predators aren't as active hyenas lions
leopards
generally don't like to be out when it's
uh hotter in the day
they may be active but they're not going
to be as active as it will be at night
to
be active the opposite kinds to the
other prejudices so that they can eat
freely when they do get it good
with the temperature there's some here
um
and
temperature
the last few days has been very cloudy
and rainy it's been quite cool but
now sun's out
so it's probably in the
mid to high 20s and gets sun for another
couple of days we'll get into the
low to mid 30s
okay
mum standing up at the moment having a
look around there's a big head of debra
they're coming and making a fuss that's
why she's being alert
um
they stayed
if they were all females if they stayed
together after leaving the mother no and
they wouldn't females have split up
they'll stay together for a month or two
but
they would split up they are very solid
the females
good afternoon from here
can you come in here still good
afternoon
um
okay
hello there in thailand and hello in
south africa as well
everybody's doing fine
or at least better than the gazelle is
doing
this is so fast
a couple of days ago
a different female tutoring cups uh
casara family
eating a female gazelle
it took them
well over an hour an hour and a half
to eat as much as being eaten here in 15
minutes 20 minutes
too many questions
genetically similar
uh there's
nothing that can be done about that
particular genetic bottleneck you take
cheetah here
and
their dna will be
almost exactly the same as cheetah in
south africa and
it's a big enough area here big enough
population for them
not to worry about having to bring in
new males or anything like that
you're looking at
forty thousand square kilometers
serengeti mora ecosystem
so
there's enough cheetah and enough
individuals that direct inbreeding won't
happen
the questions have do they leave the
belly usually yes that you can see in
front of the head at the moment
they won't beat that unless they're
really starving
to feed off a big game carcass like a
buffalo not usually not usually at all
no
they don't scavenge because of the
chance of there being other bigger
stronger scavengers that might come in
[Music]
percent of their own body weight so it
depends on the size of the cheeto would
that be enough for all four of them
it'll be enough to fill them up in this
particular instance
but uh not enough that they
won't be hungry again soon
not like lions that will eat their fill
and then not have to eat for a week
and with fortuitou like this if they
don't eat tomorrow they'll eat the next
day
you can see how quickly they've polished
it off
if anybody's asked a question that i've
missed just ask it again because i can't
scroll up
at the moment because i can't see what
i'm doing
okay
you have family groups mother and cubs
or coalitions of males
would be
many related members of different ages
and
really pride only applies to lions
there's different collective nouns for
different animals
just check quickly the official
collective now for cheaters
um
the partners next to them that they're
not eating is their stomach so they
won't be fit
cheetah are vulnerable to uh climate
change um
like if it gets you they they get used
to hunting in a certain
condition so
if you get too much rain in an area
that's usually dry
they can't adapt their hunting skills
fast enough to be able to chase down in
the muck and the opposite if it's
usually wetter and they're used to
chasing in mud and
then it becomes too dry
again they can't adapt fast enough for
that sort of thing
that's why it's
often quite hard to move
cheetah populations to different areas
if it's not similar to what they're used
to
but almost completely finished
they've eaten it so fast
they were really hungry this morning
thanks to everyone saying thank you
thank you for watching
you pointless me doing it if you guys
didn't come and watch so thank you for
coming
[Music]
oh
thank you
any hyenas that come in
oh it's
basically the the bare bones
the head and the stomach
nearly 25 minutes and
let's say
10 minutes before that it was still a
running walking eating gazelle so
incredible how fast they've gone through
it
why don't they eat the stomach it's full
of grass
they don't want to eat that
sometimes some predators will eat a bit
of a stomach content to
help with digestion but
the stomach lining itself isn't
particularly nutritious
and the grass inside
isn't great and also if they open the
stomach straight away
then it would smell stronger and attract
more predators more quickly
how young the cubs are they were born
the beginning of november
so they are
15 months
the head is nutritious and filled with
flesh four creatures with stronger jaws
or tutors with their small jaws
they would struggle to get into that
they might pull the eyes out maybe and
eat the nose
but the rest of it's a a bit of a
a struggle for them
well the mother's chew to go into heat
straight after the coast leaves usually
within a couple of weeks
that doesn't mean
that she will have cubs uh immediately
the first time she goes into heat she'll
probably go through a couple of easter
cycles
before she successfully conceives again
so
usually
when another
rose that comes to independence for
about six months
before
yes
if you want to argue against climate
change on a channel about wildlife and
nature you're probably in the wrong
place climate change is real end of
story
[Laughter]
[Music]
depend
on a lot of things
but usually
[Music]
usually um they're around 18 months
like they're already full because it's
already finished they were certainly not
full when it started
because they're already full
vehicles i'm starting to leave
they are used to the vehicles
thanks for
joining me
okay
that's how you recognize babies
i'm also decides
as it is pretty much finished
also finish up
notifications on and
we'll find you that way
