Parental rights in Washington State are under attack by Democrats in Olympia.
I-2081 was supported by nearly 450,000 citizens who wanted to strengthen and affirm parental rights in Washington. The initiative received broad, bipartisan support with nearly 90% of legislators voting in favor. Now, HB 1296 would gut key aspects of the initiative, including access to certain records, the right to access teaching materials, and immediate notification of crimes committed against their child.

for me it was an olive branch extending
out to our Public School saying we want
to rebuild this trust with you we want
to trust you that you will do right by
our children and that we can have this
two-way street and to see the
legislature come down one year after it
passed and strip all of the rights that
we have asked for that they would strip
that for us from us it really feels like
a betrayal nearly a half million parents
petitioned the legislature just a year
ago to make sure that they had a voice
in their children's
schooling house build
1296 now seeks to undo a lot of those
protections and nobody's better
positioned than the parents to know
what's best for their child they had
brought in outside resources to provide
mental health for my son um had pulled
him out of class for over 6 weeks
without me knowing and um and they
hadn't planned on telling me I found out
in a in a meeting the student Le
conference meetings that we have you
know just one thing after another we
ended up pulling him out we're one of
many many parents who pulled our
children out of school and um now we've
homeschooled him and it it's frustrating
that he can't be part of the community
that we pay our taxes for and he can't
access the education that that should be
provided for him watching what they're
doing this year with the new bill
obviously they have no intention of
supporting the parents and the
relationship that we have with our
children to protect them and be involved
in what what their needs are nothing
about this is partisan this is about
protecting the rights of parents
ensuring children have a good supportive
school system and making sure that our
schools are accountable if 1296 passes
parents access to text books curriculum
and classroom materials will be limited
this will deny parents access to
important School records this will deny
parents access to their children's
medical health and mental health
counseling records email your
legislators call your legislators
doesn't matter what side of the aisle
call and make sure that your voice is
heard I urge you to take action
