today I'm going to show you how to
change a car battery first I have a dad
joke for you did you hear about the
robot that went on a crime spree yeah
his batteries ran out but the police are
refusing to charge him anyway let's get
started first thing you want to do is
locate the positive and the negative you
want to disconnect that one first now
we're going to disconnect the positive
my battery had this insulating cover
that just was around it maybe that
helped with the life of the battery I'm
not sure your battery will be held in
place somehow and so this has got this
little tidy down down at the bottom here
see that so there's just a little bolt
on it that I'm going to have to loosen
to lift that out of there and then so
you slide it forward and pull it out
just going to go ahead and vacuum that
out there's different debris that's
built up over the over the years just to
get that out there and start off with a
nice clean bottom now I'm going to go
ahead and clean up these leads here just
to make sure that there's a good
connection onto my terminals so may as
well since you have it here right so
there's this wire brush that's
specifically made for this and you can
clean it up good let's just take a look
at things make sure we're ready to go
and we're just going to go ahead and put
the battery back in so we'll go ahead
and get the battery up here you can see
there's covers on the battery terminals
right so you're going to end up removing
those make sure you're putting the
battery back in the correct way right
you're going ahead and have the positive
side on the left side just like you
removed it and the negative side on the
right side I'm just checking to make
sure it fits but we still need to
actually put that um insulator back on
we're going to slip that down and then
we can go ahead and slide it back okay
so now it's in place and then we just
got to put that other clip back in see
your hole down there so you know what
you're doing put that clip down in there
you want to kind of feel for that bottom
hole it might take a little bit to get
it started and then once you get it
started you can go ahead and use your
ratchet and tighten it all the way down
connect the positive first so your red
one right there you got to remove that
Red Cap let's remove that and then we'll
go ahead and connect the positive just
the opposite of how we removed it we put
the negative on last make sure it's
seated down in there good and this one
has a cap that might fall off snap it
back on and then C back over the top but
before we do that we want to just
tighten it down so make sure it's a good
connection there right and then tighten
it back up don't overtighten this but
you want to make sure it's snug so that
it holds now we're going to attach the
negative you got just make sure to
remove that plastic cover first right
you don't want to leave that on
otherwise you won't have good
connections you got to remove that and
then we're going to go ahead and attach
it and basically what we did with the
positive side we're going to put that
down in there and then tighten it up
good all right thanks for watching and
God bless you
