In Episode 3 we point toward the Atlas Mountains to ride our first off-road of the trip, before setting up camp in another wild and remote location, this time alongside some Dutch Overlanders.
It's getting louder and louder, there's a shaking in my bones.
It's getting stronger and stronger, there's a hunger in my heart.
It's full of promise, promise, there's an itch under my skin.
It's under my skin, under my skin.
He's prepping, he's got the pose ready.
Here's the photographer man.
Shoot it, make the camera love you.
The camera wants to take photos of you.
I just want to feel something real.
I want to feel something real.
It says if you don't want to camp, you'll have to plan your riding days quite closely.
So as it is a long route, so it's planned that people camp out there on the route.
We're perfectly set up for camping.
Fuel only at each end and Imchil or Imilchil for short.
Plenty of water running in the creeks and the village wells from stores and maybe the homes.
We fill up all our water pots at the petrol station.
Yeah, so we'll just buy some bottles of water from here if we make sure we're completely full.
So the food in Morocco is absolutely amazing.
Lemon chicken, amazing.
Moroccan mint tea.
We've got another never-ending kettle in there.
See, we're so funny to each other at the moment, aren't we?
It's a good camel.
It's a loud camel.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Spits like a camel.
Spits on this camel, yeah.
Yep.
So what we've found is the Moroccan people are all super friendly.
They're just very loud and they shout a lot.
I'm sure it's friendly shouting, but they shout a lot.
Although apparently not when they've put the camera on.
Whitey, how are you feeling about the next bit?
Alright, this is going to be good.
It's going to be really good.
This is going to be good.
I don't really know what to expect, mate.
No idea, absolutely no idea.
So we've got six kilometres of asphalt.
And then into the unknown.
And then, yeah, turn right at the fork that guy just told us, didn't he?
Yeah.
I think he might have been talking about a campsite, wasn't he, or somewhere to stay.
Yeah, I wasn't so sure whether he was saying campsite or you could just stay out in the wild camping.
Yeah.
But he said you'll be okay.
See what happens.
The master of my sea.
You ready?
Yeah.
Three, two, one.
Cheers, dude.
You got it?
Yeah.
That was hard work.
That was by no means a flash, but if we can keep the whooping and hollering to a minimum
until everyone's up.
Same as always.
Sorry, mate.
Yeah, exactly the same.
We'll live and we'll learn.
But you were like, woo, I made it.
I was like, what bag?
Just thinking where we're going to clear some of the tentage.
What does it feel like, Ollie?
Ah, good.
Feels good.
I've only taken this bike off road once before what you just saw.
And that one time I went off road, like I said before, I fell off twice.
So the fact I've only fallen off once on this must be getting better, I suppose.
And he crashed into me.
That wasn't today.
No, last time.
Is that why you've sat behind him all day today?
Yeah, yeah.
It's my chance for revenge.
You can still see the war wound on the back of the bike, if you look.
See these little marks here, this and that?
That's Ollie's bike.
Let's have a look at the war wound on the front of Ollie's bike.
I know, because I've painted it, mate.
There is a war wound on this side, though.
Look at the floppy peg.
I don't know if you can see, but that used to be around there when I fell over.
So I warmed it up and got it in a vice.
It's been doing alright today.
You want the good news or the bad news?
Give us the good news first.
In fact, give us the bad news first.
Well, you said the good news, so I'm going to give you the good news first.
So we've done some of the route today.
So that's on a 30k scale at the moment.
And we've done this little piece here.
You might just be able to see it.
I can't see where the light's coming from.
Out of 317km, we've done about 25-30k on the route.
You might not have heard that, but we've got all the purple bit to go.
So we've got some turbo shaky camera going on right now.
Oh, they're way back.
No problem with police so far.
Even at the border, it was pretty easy.
Yeah, very surprising.
Had a nice time with the Dutch.
Yeah, it was great.
So friendly.
And then trails to Borg.
We've actually only got a part of the 30k of hard stuff.
Only 30k.
Only so much.
Trailblazer seating out the front.
Trying not to ride off cliffs.
What bike do you ride?
I don't know, mate.
You were about to tell me, weren't you?
Mr. Branded over here.
I like that T-shirt.
Time for a better thing.
See you.
Day 7.
He's always up first.
He's too excited.
What time is it, Andrew?
Poo time.
Let's go for poo time before the Dutch get up.
Morning, Alan.
Look at where we are.
I know.
Now, as we follow the Seton,
he makes his way to his pooing ground.
A daily ritual.
Wet wipes in hand.
This guy takes no chances.
This is definitely safe.
He doesn't ******* learn.
I think the KTM is fireproof, is it not?
Known for its fireproof capability.
Just doing some inspections.
Just to make sure I don't have any stones in brake pads,
nothing on the tyres, all the bolts are tight.
Bits that might have rattled themselves loose.
Just checking for any damage.
My hair this morning is incredibly epic.
So I forgot to take the buff off last night.
What a mistake of the maker.
But it does give me, however, a cool sonic-looking hairstyle.
Cool 0800 KTM.
What's going on, Ollie?
So, we're doing a fair bit of off-road.
And I'm going to let the tyre pressures down a little bit, I think.
Because I want a bit more traction.
So the Triumphs are on the Mitas E07s.
The KTM is on the TKC 80.
The BMW 1200 GS is on a mix of an Aniki Wild front
and a Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR on the rear.
So it's been a real mix of tyres,
but they all seem to be performing pretty well.
Little by little.
I don't want to go too far, because I can't be bothered to pump it up again.
Have a look at the Krieger tool roll that we've all got as well.
So the Krieger tool roll, fabric tool roll.
If you have a look at the tools,
and we've got a mix, so I haven't got everything that I'd need if I was by myself,
but just stuff that can get me out of sticky situations,
i.e. some grips, pliers, spanners, snips,
and a load of cable ties and sockets and stuff to get my wheels off.
So I've got a mix of allen keys, torx bits,
we've got some screwdrivers,
we've got all sorts of little bits to do a service on brake pads,
we can get wheels off, tyres off,
we can probably pretty much strip the bikes down.
Oh, and I see a Gerber.
Everyone's got a Gerber.
Normally this slots, it won't now the camera's on.
Really easily under here.
Ollie's just making it look hard.
Hey!
Was it Basil's bike or Rex's bike?
Rex.
It was Rex with the Dakar, wasn't it?
Basil's bike is the one he went round the Royal.
A wasp just landed on my GoPro.
There's one thing to point out actually,
we're 7,000 feet in the mountains,
and it's not windy right now, but when we got here it was quite windy.
And there's a lot of wasps around, isn't there?
Yeah, yeah.
You'd think they wouldn't be here, but...
Oh well.
Are you getting a shot of that?
Yeah.
I sat down and thought, aw.
Don't know how it came out, but...
All day breakfast.
Love an all day breakfast.
I haven't got any of them.
What?
Yeah.
Bad menu choice.
Yeah, it was. It's my choice.
They eat and kill pests,
so like little shitty stuff, that's what they kill and eat.
They also do pollinate certain things.
So I thought wasps were absolute dicks.
Turns out they actually do serve a purpose,
but they are still dicks.
Yeah.
But they are actually dicks with a purpose.
Nicely put.
Dicks, ****, assholes.
You know what else, Chuck?
This view didn't cost us a penny.
Well, it did.
Well, yeah, it might cost me a quite few...
Cost us a fair few pennies.
Quite a few pennies to get that and all the gear,
but the actual campsite.
I'm going to spin this around.
Don't want to make you dizzy.
There's the Dutch.
That looks luxury, that, doesn't it?
I'm up for that.
It's like a home away from home.
Yeah.
That's mega.
This is what we could have won.
Instead, we've got a bag.
In the door.
Oh, wow.
So it's like this.
Oh, that's pretty.
And the water is somewhere here underneath,
and it goes through the door all the way.
We were looking for a spot where the waste water...
Wouldn't drip in the car.
Yeah, of course, yeah.
And then I saw some guy...
On YouTube, who made this.
Where he put it over there, and I thought,
oh, wow, this is the best place ever.
Genius.
