DIY Chateau Wrought Iron Gate Repair | French Chateau Renovations #51

[Music] this week we begin our next renovation project Ian's friend Sam comes to visit with his family and helps us around the Chateau I'm really excited to show you our next renovation project because this is my old childhood room this is definitely one of my favorite rooms in the whole house and it really needs some TLC and it's gone through many iterations of Daffy but literally for like the last 6 years it's just kind of been like a closet area where we move everything from the house that we don't know what to do with we just move it into here and it's just been piling up when I was really little we had like a little play area over here and then as I got older we got a bigger bed and I remember just putting posters all over these walls I like made these crazy animal collages little Daphne definitely Drew on these walls yes yes definitely did that my grandma framed them okay okay I do still have a framed picture of one of my watercolors when I was let me see I was 3 years old when I made that wow it's an original Daphne original dapne there are a few things about this room that I really love like like the view these old wooden Beams I also really like the like wings coating around the room the biggest issues with this room is that there are only two electrical plugs on that wall and the paint is peeling off the walls Behind These curtains used to be a door that connected the two rooms which we had to block off I always thought this was the coolest thing but now we need to figure something else to do with it I really love this like chocolate marble fireplace it's just a shame because it's like right behind the door and I also really love this piece of furniture it actually used to be my grandpa's little desk and he would have all of his paper look his glasses are still in here it would be really nice to keep this piece of furniture in here maybe as our inspiration for the whole room I feel like we should just move everything out of the room and start fresh and start coming up with some [Music] ideas I'm going to start Gathering ideas this week and and see what works for this classical fireplace but if you guys have any ideas for good colors for the walls that'll really make this pop feel free to leave those in the comments below while Ian's friend Sam was visiting with his family we went to the D-Day beaches in Normandy and showed them around [Music] Paris Ian and Sam wanted to visit Cy girl in John Wick [Music] fashion Sam fixes tractors so we asked him to look at the broken one in our hanger so this is a tractor that's been here longer than I have this looks like a nice rig you guys trying to consume it with boards uh honestly I think we've just been using it as a shelf yeah I could tell so we need to get a running driving usable again yeah you you good you got anything else planned for the next 12 to 24 [Music] hours it's pretty nice machine I like the uh it's it's yeah it's custom so what's left of the seat is marginal does have some cushion the back support is there yeah it'll work all right ready there we go well there's your problem right there engine's on the back you say this thing can do 0 to [Music] 60 60 what [Music] see how this one's bent it's cuz it's got the wrong pump on it see got kink in it I'll go ahead and check all the fluid see if you know we got engine oil antifreeze hydraulic oil anything that's typically needed for the tractor if it'll crank that's a good sign that means the engine's not you know seized up and then we got to check to see if we're getting fuel [Music] so we got everything buttoned back up got a new fuel line installed cuz I was suspecting that this this old blue one I thought it had a crack in it swap that out we still weren't getting fuel so I ended up putting this turkey baster fuel pump for a boat well I just hooked the battery up you want to try it oh that one's splattering all right H got two of them throwing fuel come on baby finally we need to add hydraulic fluid to it we'll do that when the sun comes out tomorrow yeah but this this is a very big [Music] [Music] [Music] win notice this pin came out of the uh loader arm it doesn't have a bolt to hold it [Music] in okay [Music] [Applause] you guys got it running again yeah both of us together group effort yeah I did like 98% of the job this thing's older than the chatau itself no it's not no it's not it's a dinosaur not a dragon it is a dinur what is this that's that's the pedal that breaks but it doesn't break oh yeah so there's no brakes on this thing not yet this Ian's job we don't need brakes while we're going the cool thing about it is it's not a car so just letting off the throttle it pretty much slows down anyway right so it's not that big of a deal so hit the key start it up yep and then hit the throttle here we go [Music] how long have you known how to weld um been welding for 25 years 25 you came out of the womb with a welding mask and a torch so as you can see our fence is broken people in the village will come up and they'll toss their beer bottles right over and then I get to clean clean it I don't want to clean it no and down here it's straight up it broke it so yeah give us a chance to try out that welder we found yeah uh it turns out Daphne and I have had a welder all along we just found it in the horse stables how would we lift this that tractor man we have all the tools we need they're just you know hidden around the property okay so hook tie down to it I'll just lift the bucket up and pull the whole fence straight hopefully that works sky on fire [Music] [Music] the sky is on [Music] fire oh the ocean yet to CR High what put me down hey dude should I be wearing one of those masks our wer stopped working I think my eyes did too hope that holds we burned up a cord I think it's cornea or something we burned out my [Music] corneas did you guys actually manage to fix the gate we did but we broke the welder oh great you guys did it how did you even lift it up into place uh well the tractor helped oh that's amazing we have so many welding jws to do around the property I did run to the store this morning and I got a new welder okay this is it that's not for charging batteries no I mean oh no no cool wer yeah all right it's the cutest one they had can we go fix the fence over there yeah I mean I just I feel like I should learn how to do this immediately have so much stuff that needs to be fixed around here this is um you sound like just [Music] Madam yep that looks about as scary as I thought it was um baby oh yeah your head's tiny we just got to twist this thing and then pull the trigger on the middle there you go that's it it's going dark in my mask yeah the will automatically darken [Music] oh that's not so hard pretty fun huh yeah [Music] not bad eh no looks great little bit of paint and you're good to go yeah that's awesome I mean that's two fences fixed 24 hours that's pretty good should we go to the back of the domain well cuz there's like a bunch of fence that need to be fixed over there and then there's also the gate and we also have the other gate over there [Music] thank you for watching
