OUR FAVOURITE STUFF & TOOLS
Hello! We are here in Sidemen. It's in the middle north of Bali and we are surrounded here by
rice fields and nature and today we are driving around with our scooter to explore the rice field
and we are going to visit a temple which is apparently the biggest one here in Bali.
So see you there!
Okay so we are out for lunch on the way to the temple
and we found a quite nice place with a beautiful view between Mexican and Italian food apparently
but really nice just like on the road.
We were just thinking about it and it would have been super nice to know beforehand but
Bali actually is not that super hot. That means it goes well at 30 degrees maybe 28. I think
generally every day of the year but we are in the high season right now and it's quite cold.
Like it's probably going to rain today and especially in the mornings and evenings you
need long clothes and also sometimes during the day if the sun isn't out it's definitely a good
idea to bring some long clothes with you. So just so you know.
So this temple is not... I can't really see this temple. It's a huge complex. A lot of different temples
of different classes apparently. One thing to look out for is maybe for pickpockets. I'm not sure
because there's a lot of people here and they all want to sell you something. We did take some
pictures for two euros. Here you can see some. Very nice. I mean it's two euros so we didn't care
but there are a lot of little girls who want to sell you postcards. All of these things
just to keep in mind. Look at our new fashion choices. Yeah we did a ceremony at the temple.
It was very interesting. It was very very calm, very beautiful in a sense and it's definitely
something, even though we are not religious, it's definitely something you should try when you come
here. Even though I didn't pray, I just visualized and thought about everything that I wish we would
accomplish. Everything like being healthy, being even healthier, trying to be more successful. It was
more like a visualization session for me. Yeah or like a meditation session. And by the way this
temple is not just the biggest temple in Bali but also the oldest one. Oh and before I forget,
you pay an entrance fee of 150k per person and in that entrance fee the guide is included.
And I think you don't need to take the guide but be sure to take one because they're
very very kind and they show you a lot more things than you would see and get a lot more
explanation than you would get when you just visit on your own. He gave us a lot of explanations
not just of the temple but also of the Balinese people and the Balinese culture
and it was so interesting to get those insights. Yeah for example what we didn't know, Balinese
is a separate language from Indonesian, right? If it's called like that. So definitely a place
to come when you are in Bali.
Good morning! It's 6.30 am and I'm about to explore a very beautiful waterfall that's in the area
about 30 minutes away from here with the bike. And if you want to be alone there
you have to get up earlier than other people do.
Okay so we are well on our way. I think we have never been ready this quickly especially her.
And yeah let's just hope that we might have some minutes alone at the waterfall because it looks
but the view is stunning and so far it seems that we are the first here. Yay!
It opens at 7 am and we had a 20 minute drive so we were very early here and we were the first ones
here. Yeah we had the place for ourselves and there is actually like a nature made pool in the
waterfall which is so beautiful. You definitely have to visit this place when you are in Sidemen.
Okay so all in all this was a very nice waterfall, a very beautiful view. Especially the view from
up top you can go even higher. We got a coffee there. It was very nice. Bring yourself
some warm clothes because it's very cold and fresh in the morning especially when you are jumping in
the pool. Yeah so if that's something you're looking forward to and it's also a little slippery
and you should not be too afraid of heights if you want to do this. But yeah definitely
bring some warm clothes afterwards.
All right so we just arrived at the trekking through the rice fields. This is supposed to
only take one hour which is quite short I have to admit but at least we got in some steps.
Would be nice to hit 10k today.
So the trekking so far is very very nice. It's so diverse. You get to see waterfalls,
rivers and rice fields. Yeah all the different plantations, all the palm trees,
the banana leaves and what have you. And the road is actually not really a road. You get to climb
on a wall and on a small wall and you have to pay attention that you don't fall in the water.
But yeah it's very nice. We didn't expect this. It's very worth the steps.
