TRAPPED between TWO hill climbs in the Canadian Wilderness. | S1E09

I'm a little nervous about today Uh, along this road I want to take It has a really, really steep pitch Apparently, he says it's quite hard. He says it's like a 4 out of 5 I'm in it for the adventure Let's head up there and see what we can find Oh god! Oh my god! Oh, straight up the hill Oh my god Holy crap I have to go, go, go, go My journey around the planet begins at North America's most northern drivable point The plan is to ride through Canada and America before crossing over to Europe From there, I'll make my way through the Middle East and Asia After island hopping through Indonesia It'll be Australia and finally New Zealand The end of my journey will be marked by the southernmost point of the South Island I'm calling it the Big Spiral Well, my problem's behind me, but who knows what's coming up now Bike is heavy Oh, straight up the hill Oh my god Holy crap I have to go, go, go, go Okay It gets worse Okay Turn the bike off Okay, I need to pull the bike Okay I kind of want to try one more time, but I got to start from the bottom, I think Oh, I'm having trouble Oh my god Put it back in gear Oh my god Got down Back to the mosquitoes Okay Okay, I need to figure out If I can get around this section Or if I Have to go back Cause I'd be willing to try go up it again But The pain and suffering of dragging the bike Like down the hill once Once you're Once the bike's down is so Is so tough Okay, so I looked at the map And I'm going to go back a little bit And I'm going to go check that bridge So there's just a bridge over there And I feel like if I get up I didn't see a path up to that bridge, but If I can get up on there There's a way around all this heinous stuff And you know, if they're logging Logging trucks need decent roads, so Oh god, I can't even get on the bike anymore So, but now I gotta go around this mud bog again Oh god Oh, right Right on the log Oh god, don't drop it I'm dropping it Oh god If it's at least On its side, I should at least pull it over the log Okay Okay, come on! Okay To be honest, I'm just like A bit over picking up the bike, so Went into beast mode there Okay Oh, there's creeks again Okay I hope they're still fun Okay Okay, there's the bridge It'd be great if there was a way up there I did see a Kind of a steep path, like here But that looks impossible Oh man, the road up here is so good I don't think I can make it up though Okay I have to go back Okay I have to go through these water splashes again Oh my god, I went over the top Oh my god I'm still having fun, but it's Not quite like the first time I have to say Alright, well this is the bit where it's steep again I came down it I kinda have to do it Otherwise I'm stuck between these two steep hills Oh my god I'm actually dreading this I don't think it's as hard as the one I crashed on, but Oh god Oh yeah, maybe I have to go more on the left Okay Oh my god, I'm sliding backwards I think I have to go down again I have to stay on the left Try from here At least I'm on the left side now Okay, I've definitely learned a few things Lots of Lots of throttle and Yeah, you gotta slip the clutch like hell Otherwise you're lugging the engine too much And it stalls Okay Now I have to go down I guess Here's the steep bit Okay Okay, I don't think it's that bad, but Let's go over here Just surfing it Okay, I made it down Okay Oh my god Alright I don't wanna say it yet, but I think That's the hardest of it So Back to the beautiful lake I don't mind that Um, okay, so new plan Uh, we're gonna go to Marshall Lake Which is Conveniently Where my neighbor From this morning And from the general store yesterday Uh That's where he said he was gonna go ride today So if I see him again He's gonna be like I told you so But, um, yeah And he's right It was definitely beyond my abilities I'm not sure at what point he turned around But I I feel like I went further So I'll just, uh, you know Um, you know I got that out of him Um, uh, so but anyways Marshall Lake We'll head there and then we can keep going past Marshall Lake And then we'll get Down to the road and we'll head towards Lillooet And uh, it's actually a really Beautiful town, Lillooet Oh, deer Those little Bambis Popping around Wow, look at that logging All those trees Just left to rot What happened? Like Okay, yeah, you log Stuff, but so much is just Left Just sitting there They don't use it What a mess It feels like 50% of the trees are just They just cut it down and I don't know if they're gonna Pull it out, but it looks like They've been there for a long time already, so Cause they're all grey And then I noticed like Over this edge, they're just dumping Tons and tons of wood over this edge I gotta get the drone out Cause this is There's so much wood That's gone unused Well It's honestly quite shocking To see that But You know, there's gotta be good reason And if you look off to the side On the other aspects Of the mountain There is a bunch of grey, dead trees in there And I'm thinking It's probably Pine beetle mitigation Because it doesn't make sense Like why If you were actually logging it for it's lumber You would definitely take the lumber Right? But surely there could be some use For all this wood, you know It's just So much waste Anyways If anybody in the comments Works in the industry And if you got a good explanation And can write a Well articulated comment I'll definitely pin it Just so everybody can know what's going on Because it seems just like It is quite shocking to see that So maybe I should talk about The pine beetle So the pine beetle is a beetle That likes to live under the bark Of certain trees It used to be that the winters got cold enough That they would die off In enough numbers That it wasn't really a problem For the forest But now our winters are not getting cold enough And The pine beetles Are like multiplying Anyways Let's move on from this Because it's kind of bumming me out Look at that view You can see the lake down there And this way Not a bad view either Oh Cows on the road Hello And there's the lake I think it's Carpenter Lake But there's actually two lakes here But it's So blue green Teal It's a lot hotter down here though Alright, back to the pavement It's a little sad Cause I didn't make it through my Desired route But holy crap was that Gnarly And that Has to be one of the most beautiful drives In the world Hey guys! I hope you can hear me Uh, I got my hotel room Check it out Beauty I've got my own fridge A little desk A little cooktop And a whisper quiet AC Actually the shower was really good So I appreciate that And best of all I can see the bike From the window So good And check out that view Not bad, right? Well, it's one of the cheaper places in Lillooet But uh As long as I can sleep well That's all that really counts, so I'm sure I'm good to go Um, but today I have to say I had a lot of fun Um, I'm a little Disappointed that I didn't make it up The hill A little disappointed In fact, next time I'm in the area I definitely want to go and try again Um I was feeling a little defeated cause it's really Punishing when you drop the bike It's so heavy to lift And you know, it's just tough to handle And get down the hill. I have to go to the gym Or something cause I'm just not strong enough People are definitely going up that hill But I don't know if they're doing it With all the luggage and stuff Well, what am I saying? I'm sure they are I'm just more of a novice, so On the bright side We got to see that amazing Ride out Towards Lillooet and honestly This is one of my favourite Drives in BC and Probably the world because it's just so gorgeous It's so gorgeous But I'm glad I could have a shower And stuff because tomorrow I've got another massive day Planned and we're Definitely going to get to, oh there goes the AC We're definitely going to get to Farwell Canyon Which is going to be awesome! I can't wait to see that canyon It's just, I've seen it in so many Mountain bike videos and stuff And it's just really epic with hoodoos Popping out of like the hillside And stuff And if you don't know what hoodoos are Well, I'll tell you in the next video So, if you're keen on it I'd love to have you around And I'd love to Keep you around for the next video So, maybe Subscribe?
