The leopard queen of Kaboso ( or just Kaboso for short) had caught a young wildebeest as a herd crossed through the river. We arrived as she was dragging it to the shade. After storing the meal in some thick bush she went to fetch her cub. On the way to her cub she noticed some approaching lions (Enkoyonai pride lionesses) that had come to check out the wildebeest alarm calls. The lions soon picked up on the scent of the leopard's prize and, as soon as they found it, began eating. The young wildebeest was just the wrong size for the leopard to be able to hoist into the safety of a tree. as Kaboso had seen the lions heading to the spot where her meal was, and knew it was likely lost, she did not return with the cub at all.

About Rob The Ranger Wildlife Videos:
The purpose of the channel is to show what it is like to experience seeing wild animals on an African safari. Nature Documentaries are often highly edited to tell a story, wildlife safaris are not, and the idea here is to show the wildlife sightings the way they were seen. Safari tours in Africa are generally suitable for all ages and this channel can be considered an educational channel about incredible nature, some scenes in the nature videos may be more graphic than people are used to but this is the reality of nature and is what you would see if you were present on such a safari in person. Safaris in Kenya, South Africa, or any other African country are an unrivalled experience for anyone with a passion for nature, wildlife photography, and travel. Hopefully the animal videos on this channel can provide a glimpse into what the nature experience is like and encourage more people to take a wildlife safari one day. hey everybody i'm rob the ranger that's
the river full of crocodiles
there's some trees that's all irrelevant
enjoy the video
so
yes
[Laughter]
yeah yeah so she's she's left the
meeting there now she's gonna go
we go to wherever she'll see what i'm
saying she won't worry about the car
she's just gonna walk straight under
this one
fantastic because if she sees those
lines she's going to be up the tree
yeah the landscape the moves are coming
mine's a chaser
i don't want to eat her or anything but
predators don't like each other
my god i can't believe
[Music]
yeah she's noticed the lines of that
only the males have the the fluffy heads
yeah
yeah the other one's coming up
but they're they're going to go and
steal that kiln
they will smell it yeah they're going
right there
they probably heard the commotion that's
what brought them this way
because we drive like this whatever's
happening to get
the right angle they don't know
what we know
oh
or anything but refuse to get out here
hopefully they'll drag it down hopefully
they don't go and eat it in that thicket
and where are the males um i think
now they've got the scent because the
wind's sort of swirling around a bit
yeah you can see that see how their
their behavior has changed now
their whole body language changed they
know they're close
oh
they're going to be wary as well because
they've seen that left but they don't
know if it's the leopard
that made the kill i don't know if it's
other lions all they will have heard is
the wildebeest making noise
as it was getting killed so they're
going to be worried because they don't
know who's here
see their behavior is changing
hey
[Music]
foreign
one behind at the back is eating as well
two of them
three
oh
i think we're the only ones that can see
anything i think we're the only ones
that can see anything
[Applause]
no no no certainly not against that many
lions
even one lioness versus the leopard
shields to stay well out the way she
can't afford to get injured
no there's going to be nothing left when
the lines are finished yeah
there's quite a young builder beast the
bones will be soft the lines will even
crack them
they'll just be a a wet patch on the
ground with a bit of fur
and they don't have carbs or anything uh
they've got
sub-adult youngsters which might turn up
if they were still more coming from that
side then
they don't care for
thanks man
yeah you see the wind's blowing that way
they came from that weather
so that would have carried the sound and
then
as they come then they're very aware
of their territory is that right so they
know
more or less exactly where a sound comes
from when they hear it
so that's once they started getting
close to where they thought it was then
you saw how their body language changed
and obviously with the wind blowing as
well there would be a little bit of
scent
coming with it
yeah one is fast asleep the one that's
sleeping is the one that had all the
flies so she ate already
uh
[Music]
she her plan was to go and fetch the cup
yeah she she wouldn't know they were
coming with the wind going towards them
she wouldn't have realized they were
coming until she spotted them
as she was walking there
so
15.
so
i don't think
and from there i can probably only see
the tails
yeah there's three eating and one lying
down
the third one eating is probably just
behind the bush from your angle
[Applause]
yeah they'll leave the stomach it's full
of grass
you'll only find them eating the stomach
if if they maybe the hyenas take
everything away from them
that's all that's left then they'll eat
it they'll eat around the grass
they don't mind eating the intestines
when the the intestines that you did
like you're squeezing the meat out of a
sausage
so what's in the intestines and that
will drop on the ground
[Laughter]
[Applause]
um
[Applause]
driver they got their whale back
what else had you seen up until now this
morning
buffalos
but this was the pricing on the cake
how often do you do this um
not as often as i would have liked this
year but normally we're here for a
couple of weeks every
two months every two months yeah we come
from
south everything so
