Spinning Soap Spiral Paper experiment and watch your paper spiral dance on water! What you need: Dish soap (I used Dawn) Scissors Paper Markers/crayons Plate Water Q-tip
Here are the steps 1) Cut a spiral shape from paper & color it. Print out spiral link https://www.pinterest.com/pin/542472717635902904 2) Flip over the spiral and put liquid soap in the center of the spiral. 3) Fill the plate with water 4) Then gently place the spiral on top of the water with the soap down.
Science Behind it Watch the magic happen, as the soap breaks the water tension, making the spiral spin!
Water has a special “skin” on top called surface tension, which helps things float. When we put the paper spiral on the water, it just sits there. But when we add soap, the soap pushes the water apart, breaking that “skin” and making the water move. This movement pushes the spiral, making it spin like magic! But after about 30 to 40 seconds the soap spreads out, and the spinning stops. Let me know how long you were able to make your spiral paper spin?
hey welcome back to Kids Fun Science my
name is Ken today's experiment is the
spinning soap spiral paper experiment
it's a very fun and easy experiment you
have all the supplies in your house
you're going to need uh the what you
need for this experiment is dish soap I
use Dawn scissors paper markers or
crayons a Q-tip and if you look in the
description there'll be a list of all
the supplies you need and the science
behind it here's the spiral design you
need to design if you want to print it
out it's in my sub uh description
there's a link to it so you can print it
out or just draw it yourself and uh and
print it out and color it you're good to
go so here's my masterpiece I just drew
color lines through it and then after
you get done coloring the whole thing
however you want you're going to cut it
out you're going to want to use the one
the left that has the the little dot in
the middle that's going to work better
uh the other one will work but it's a
little bit harder so pick the one on the
left right there and um you're going to
turn it upside down and you're first
you're going to put water in a dish or a
bowl like I'm doing here doesn't have to
be all the way up just enough to cover
it and then you're going to take your uh
little SP spiral and turn it upside down
a little bit harder with uh one hand
here turn it upside down and then with a
Q-tip I didn't do it with a Q-tip it's
easier with a Q-tip take some Dawn soap
or any kind of dish soap and make sure
you only get it on that middle dot right
there that's why it's important to use
this one here here put a little bit of
dish soap right there um and then you're
going to flip it upside down and place
it in the center of the dish and that's
when the fun begins so you put it down
and it
will go right here drop it in and it
starts to spin isn't that pretty cool so
it spins for about 30 to 40 seconds
which is pretty good um and I'll tell
you the science behind it so the science
behind this says water has a special
skin on top of it it's called surface
tension which helps things float so like
when we put the paper spiral on the
water it just sits there but when we add
the soap on the middle of the of the
Spiral paper roll the soap pushes the
water apart breaking that skin that's
making that surface tension water move
that movement pushes the spiral and
makes the spin like magic which is
pretty cool so I tried to add a little
bit there uh more and it didn't really
kick off as it's already broke that
surface tension but here we go I try it
again and uh flip it upside down and you
can see it starts to spin immediately
because that s soap is breaking the
surface tension which is pretty cool I
