if you're dealing with dry lips this is
the solution this video is designed to
be informative and I wanted to make it
for some time now because dry lips are
uncomfortable and they don't look good
with makeup over top when they're
cracked skin Theory tells us how to fix
this problem so that it never happens
again if you enjoyed this video give it
a thumbs up there's a lot of emphasis
and value placed on the idea that
scrubbing your lips with a lip scrub
will work these little beads are going
to represent an exfoliating lip scrub
under a microscope if we were to look up
really really close onto the skin you're
only getting some of the skin with
particles and some areas are getting
overe exfoliated and other areas aren't
getting touched at all now it's not that
I wouldn't ever get a lip scrub but
there's a better way in fact when I
studied skin and I got really into
ingredients I wasn't looking for a
solution for dry or cracked lifts but I
learned enough that I was like hey wait
a second rather than trying to scrub my
lips and then like Plastering it over
with a lip balm it's better in theory to
use an acid that is gentle and one like
lactic acid that draws water into the
skin cells as well as regenerates them
all skin care acids work differently
this product isn't made for the lips but
the more I studied skin and the more I
studied the science I was like this in
theory should be amazing and it has
completely transformed my winter lip
situation and I don't ever get cracked
lips anymore you know how there's like
those cult lip products that are very
expensive but they work very well a lot
of them have this ingredient I wanted to
explain in this video how dry skin works
on the lips and how we can figure that
out because I don't think it makes a ton
of sense to feel like you have have to
keep purchasing something for dry skin
because it's like the only thing that
works and maybe it's really expensive
some of the lip masks that are out there
they have this kind of theory behind the
formulation but once you understand how
it works you don't have to go through
having dry lips again dehydrated lips
are normal that's not where they're
cracked and little things like
toothpaste which is like a detergent can
really aggravate them and dry them out
without enough care and moisture and
elastic from oil or ointments they will
crack and that's just because they can
only be so flexible when they're dry the
problem here is not the outer layer of
skin it's not the dead skin it's the
slowness or the lack of regeneration
that's happening and when you add like a
ChapStick or you add stuff over top of
course it doesn't look great when it's
makeup but you feel that sense of relief
or that urgency to always reapply your
Chapstick but if you can break the bond
between old cells and new cells you'll
have Flex able reasonably hydrated lips
because the skin isn't dead so I love
love love using lactic acid and there's
other products I love too but that feels
like the core of the science and like
the biggest realization for me I apply
this to clean dry lips and then I let it
kind of air dry about a few seconds
before I'll layer it up with whatever I
like to use there's a difference between
hydration and elastic the skin needs
both and you get the hydration from the
lactic acid and then you get the elastic
element and that Skin Barrier protection
from like an aquafor or like a thick lip
balm or lip mask unlike a lip balm you
don't want to like resurface your skin
two times a day I just do it two to
three times a week and for the times
that I don't use it I have another serum
I've bought this multiple times in the
past 10 years I absolutely love it it's
the genius liquid collagen
lip product it's like a serum from
algenist there are little hydrating
beads found in the jelly texture of this
which make it very comfortable on the
lips you can wear this product in
particular alone unlike the lactic acid
you should always put a lacquer of
chapstick or ointment over top but since
this is actually formulated for lips it
has a lot of hydrating ingredients in it
there's a lot of really good lip
conditioners lip balms lip masks out
there but with those two serums all you
really need is some type of barrier
product that could be chapstick but I
love to use Aqua 4 oh but Vaseline is
very good too they're very similar since
I've started looking at ingredients I
realized some of my lip products have
really great ingredients that are makeup
so once I have those on it's like those
ingredients get locked in with the aqua
for acting as like a gloss over top this
lip product is so cute and I absolutely
love the way that it behaves it's like a
blurry effect the minute that you blend
it out which I love and when you have a
product like this that has ceramides in
it you can use makeup and know that it's
going to help your lips and not make
them look worse I like this product but
this is a good example of something that
if you have cracked lips and there are
little divots where there's new skin and
dead skin this pigment is going to
gather in those areas so it's great when
you have hydrated lips but products like
this aren't ideal for super cracked dry
lips you can kind of identify this when
you look at a product and the one on the
left is more oilbased that's going to
settle in the cracks because it has
pigment the same would go for a
water-based pigment this one didn't work
for me but there's a lot of water stains
like this one or this one that feels
like a water gel and these ones because
there's like castor oil or some glycerin
something that just adds a bit of a
jellin it has a beautiful texture on the
lips and you can wear it even while your
lips are in recovery if you will I
always remember those products where I
tried them and then I was like oh this
really did something and this Mac
conditioning lip product is probably one
of the first things that I ever realized
like wow good products are good this is
used by makeup artists a lot to prep a
model's lips for like 10 minutes before
for makeup and it is very fast acting it
always brings a level of improvement to
the lips even with shortterm use I think
the lip industry or like the beauty
industry and lip products within it it's
so interesting to watch because this is
an area where you're not just looking
for color Cosmetics people need to make
sure that their lips don't get cracked
and dry but they also want like certain
finishes and certain colors and this is
such an example of a trend product
because it really had its moment on
social media people were finding that
this would like goop up and look really
messy and it really reminds me of a
product that isn't really necessary and
doesn't hit the marks even when you
blend it out you can make it work but
it's so interesting to me because the
component and how you have to use these
things is half of what makes them great
or not good that's why we have our
favorite lip products on lock the ones
that are like difficult to put together
this one was is actually repackaged into
a better package cuz the formula is
really good I'm really happy about that
but if the formula is good but you can't
use it easily and quickly it's not going
to serve its purpose when it comes to
the things that I use and love it is
going to be the serum that keeps my lips
healthy and brand new and then a really
simple and affordable ointment like
aquafor I love it one to use and one to
pack so between aquafor or a lip mask
this is one that I have on hand and it
is absolutely beautiful because it has
like a little pink tint I like that
since I no longer buy or make lip scrubs
I don't find them necessary I do have
this little tool so if I want to use a
physical exfoliator I'll use this little
lip tool but I mainly rely on my serums
like this one give this video a thumbs
up if you enjoyed and I'll link all the
products in the description below I'll
see you in my next video love you bye
