Sweltering heat and drought conditions - perfect for a 3000km two week adventure ride (not). A DR650 and XR650L set off to ride from Brisbane to Sydney and back on as much dirt as possible through countless national parks, state forests and nature reserves. This is a brilliant adventure ride if you have the time and inclination... presented to you by the Secret Garden Project.
The DR has become a mothership, definitely feeling the weight.
Is it going okay so far Lincoln? Yeah it's good, really good, especially not working.
Yeah you're gonna ride slow for me today hopefully.
Yeah as everyone knows, I'm always on the tap.
We're only about an hour out of Tenderfield and oh it's magnificent country and that riding is
fantastic with the forest. No dust, blue skies, perfect conditions. Of course one of the problems
with adventure riding is a lack of coffee shops, but thank God, Lincoln, $20 it's yours.
$20? It's a cheap coffee. Starbucks, coffee from as cheap as $15.
So mate, Adventure Cafe, what's for lunch? Rice, satay rice and possibly a coffee.
And I think this has cost us a dollar each.
Fuck!
Well Lincoln's superior tyre repair skills have saved the day. You'll come anywhere,
anytime, anywhere in Australia for free, is that right?
Yes I guess so, that's what they've told me I have to do.
You're a ******* legend.
Oh barbecuing in style. Mate, you're a legendary cook as well as a tyre flat repairer.
Adventure dinner for adventure riders.
Thank you cook, thank you cook.
You're done well mate.
Basically saying you don't like my Robert Tim's coffee, you're a bloody coffee snob.
You're a coffee snob mate.
Go bike riders don't stop and drink coffee.
Had beautiful weather today, it's actually pretty cool. It doesn't feel like an Australian
summer.
First time we came through here was just after the floods. One of the bikes got washed down
here into the rapids. The rider was trapped under the bike, his head's just above water.
One of the guys came in to rescue him, he got floated down a bit. We grabbed him before
he disappeared, but he's scary. But look at it now, it's nothing.
I kind of stuffed up the route yesterday so we wound up here last night, on to Sydney today.
Brent don't touch it, don't touch it.
What is it?
It's bitumen. Mate, it saps the soul of the dirt rider.
It wrecks your tyres, it wrecks your motorbikes. Whatever you do, don't touch it.
Bloody hell, just speared off into the bush.
30 litres of fuel, so we're way off the track again as usual.
