This story makes me cry 😭.. Taylor is truly a remarkable woman! So kind and so sweet! She is an amazing woman. Why people hate her? I just don’t know why she is being hated at!? Her songs are healing very touching.. it will
Do I still talk to Taylor? I do. That's how I get all my concert tickets is through her
because she is the best and so kind and so generous. Taylor Swift's got a forever fan
in Maya Thompson, the mom of Ronan, the little boy who inspired the singer's 2012 charity single.
Come on baby with me, we're gonna fly away from here. You were my best for years.
He had stage four cancer. He endured eight months of chemo, surgeries, radiation. He literally
would not give up. It's fighting, fighting. Taylor wrote the song after discovering Maya's
rock star Ronan blog about her son's cancer battle. Hey Maya, this is Taylor Swift. There's
something coming up that I really wanted to talk to you about and just kind of get your ideas on.
I hope you're doing well. Give the boys and Woody hugs for me and I'll hear from you soon.
The family sharing memories on Katie Couric's talk show back in 2012 after Ronan died in 2011
just days before his fourth birthday. Not long after Taylor invited Maya backstage at a concert
in Phoenix and 12 years later, she's still here. So I love her dearly. I'll share some things,
not everything because I'm protective of her. The song came back in a big way in 2021
when Taylor re-recorded it for Red, Taylor's version.
Yes, she did ask my permission and I was so happy to give it to her.
I never wanted that song to be in the hands of anybody but her and it meant everything that
she put it on Red Taylor's version. When you meet somebody who's like a really complex character,
you just write about them. Yeah. It's like life continues to be inspiration and it's,
I think you have to live a life in order to be inspired by that life. Inspiration that led to
creative collaboration with Maya. I was able to work with her picking out pictures and choosing
the ones that I wanted to go in the lyric video, which I never expected there to be a lyric video
with this. And that was really hard for me. It felt like, it felt like I had opened up a vault
to some of my most beautiful memories with Ronan, but also very painful stuff. The more people that
I meet that make me feel things. It's like, I just, I write songs about those people.
