What is the real meaning and significance of Zakat
in the eyes of the Quran, to what
extent can you give Zakat to a poor person, is the
system of Zakat and Sadaqa an
Islamic Iqt Saadi system or an
Islamic Rifai system, so
how will you define Sadaqa, what is Sadaqa in the language, so it is the
month of Ramadan, because
in this month, how would you like to present
what should be the best Sadaqa, this month
also has the mandatory Zakat ul Firah which is given
out at the time of Eid, what is the wisdom behind it, what is it,
Azu Billah min Shaitan Razi
Bismillah Rahman Rahim Assalam Walekum
Nazreen, once again in our program
Baghban, Khushamdid, the month of Ramadan
brings for us a purpose of
worship in which we
worship Allah Subhan Taala in the form of Ifraadi, fasting,
namaz, recitation of Quran, understanding of the
work that is being done there in the form of Ifraadi Along with this,
Allah Subhan Tala has also placed many duties of Ijtima on us,
especially in this month. Deen
Islam is an Ijtima religion.
It is not the religion which orders us to
think only about ourselves and not about the people.
What kind of relationship should we have with the people,
what should be the social fabric,
Allah Subhan Tala has described this very beautifully
in his book and we
also see in the life of Ambiya Alaihim Salam and especially our Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam that what kind of
life they led in Ijtima.
One aspect of Ijtima life is
helping others. The system of helping others
which Allah Subhan Tala has placed is
also in his book. Zakat, Sadqa, Charity, Fira.
In today's evening, we will talk with such people on this topic that what is
Zakat, Sadqa, Fira and what is it. What is the reality? We can
create such a quality within its Fawaib
that the passion for Zakat Sadaqa should also be created in them. To
discuss on this topic, we have
with us a special religious scholar, respected Sahar
Afridi Sahiba Assalam
Walekum Sir, welcome to the show.
Insha Allah, we hope that we will be
satisfied with you on this topic. You are
also an Islamic scholar. What is the real meaning
and meaning of Zakat in the eyes of the Quran?
First of all, we will
go towards the levy of Zakat. The levy of Zakat is Tahar and the
pure Tasmiya is that when the wealth
reaches the Nisab, then
when it is paid to the designated Mikar, then it becomes pure for the rest of the wealth. So the
reason for this is
Tasmiya, that is why it is called Zakat and the meaning of this is that
when the
wealth reaches the Nisab, it includes many types of
wealth and objects like silver,
gold and cash and apart from this, animals. Goods,
cattle and merchandise, so when all these
wealth reach their Nisab, then its
fixed Mikar which Islam has set should be
paid and make some poor and
needy person its heir who does
not have food for one day or one night, we find in traditions
as well as Hadith that for example, it is the month of Ramadan, so the
Zakat of the body is daily,
then how will we relate it if the
Misda of Zakat is only wealth, then the
Zakat is like Roza or sick,
see the Zakat of the body is Roza, but
this Zakat of wealth, this
two and a half percent has been fixed by Islam that it has to be
paid on the wealth,
like if you have ₹ one lakh rupees, if you pay
its Zakat at the rate of two and a half percent of one lakh rupees, then you will
pay 00, okay,
it is on the wealth, yes, it is
on the wealth, but on the wealth, that
means, what I am talking about I want to point out
that Zakat is not limited to wealth, if there is any
purification of anything, then it is its
purity and an important aspect is its
wealth because man is earning most of his wealth,
accumulating,
preserving it, the way we find in the tradition
that the Zakat of Jamal Husn is
Ifat, if beauty has to be purified then
it has to be Afif, for a woman, especially for a
man, in the same way, the Zakat of Shujaat is
Jihad fi Sabilillah, if one
uses that bravery in the path of Allah, then it
happens, in the same way, the Zakat of Neta is a well-known deed
and a good deed, if one does
good deeds with the blessings given by Allah, then it is called
Taqiya, now there is
always this debate in the Zakat of wealth among the Ulema,
according to the
tradition we get of that era, in that era there were cattle,
gold, silver, dirhams, dinars, but
in today's era There are different types of assets, for
example, digital assets. People
keep bonds on bitcoin. There are
online digital assets, digital currency,
everything. So does this also fall in that category?
If
you talk about bonds etc., then that topic will be
sidelined because bonds are
haram according to Islam. But
apart from this, if there were cattle at that time,
but even now,
if we look at such areas of villages etc., then even there,
cattle are present with the people and
zakat is paid on them even today or
this is a religious law. But if we
look at it visually, then a poor person in a village has
two goats, two buffaloes and the taxman is
saying that he has to pay zakat on them. And
here, he has 10 vehicles on which we are
saying that they are in use, so there is no zakat on them. So,
I am
asking a question from the perspective of today's children. I am
not debating with you here about
our youth of today. A child
challenges Islam, Islamic laws on the basis of logic.
We have to logically tell the
youth and the children that
what is the concept of Zakat in the religion, why does the religion
want Zakat? Wherever there is
mention of Salat in the Quran, there is also
mention of Zakat. The Quran has given so much importance
to Zakat. So there must be some philosophy or
some wisdom behind it. Its wisdom is this. The
first thing is that Zakat is
duty on the wealthy and rich people of any community when their wealth reaches the Nisab and it is taken from
them and given to the
poor and the beggars and the needy of the same community.
Islam compensates this thing here in such a way that
if there are more poor people there, then
that Zakat and wealth should be taken from their wealthy people and
spent on them and given to them. But
now if as a matter of fact, the people, like you have
just said that they keep the cars and these vehicles with
themselves, If you are living in the holy land then this is its
Mamaniyya, that is, it has nothing to do with Zakat.
If such people have made such
hobbies like having too many
vehicles or being too proud, then
one legal rule in Takbal is that when the wealth of
any thing reaches the Nisab, then the
payment of Zakat becomes mandatory. What is the
wisdom behind Zakat? Why has
Allah Ta'ala laid so much emphasis on Zakat
that it should be given in all prayers along with Salat.
In the Holy Quran, Zakat has been mentioned 32 times along with prayers.
Apart from this, the
word Sadaqa has been used 15 times. It means
that a lot of emphasis has been laid on Zakat in the Holy Quran.
This emphasis has been laid so that no one in the Muslim should become
too
rich and the poor in the Muslim should
not become too poor, that is,
concessions have been made for everyone in Islam so that these
poor people can continue to
get all their rights with equality. People pay their
necessities, which are their right in the family,
especially the Zakat on Eid, in
such a way that the day of Eid is fixed and
we have to
pay Zakat in Ramzan, whereas Zakat can be
paid anytime when someone completes one year of their Nisab, so it means that
if people make concessions in this thing that
when one year of their Nisab passes and
if they pay Zakat on time in their fixed period,
then a system of justice will be established in the family
and in this way, the question that you just asked
that a person has so much
wealth but there is another who is extremely poor,
then this difference will not remain so much,
will the system of Zakat and Sadaqa, is
it the Islamic Iqt Saadi system or the
Islamic Rifai system, in
a way, it
can be called an economic system as well as a charity system.
Because when
Allah has made Zakat compulsory on the wealthy in this way,
then whoever follows it properly,
he is fulfilling the
orders of Allah and in this way charity is also being done
and the economic condition of Muslims
also improves because of this,
but on an individual basis, for example, the Quran has
used another term, Infaq, which is used
frequently, that whatever
risk Allah has given you,
do Infaq from it. The terminology
definition of Infaq is Nafaq, the thing coming from one side should
exit from the other side, there should be
Khurooz, that is, it should not accumulate. The economic
system, for example, in the capital system, is that
you have wealth, every individual has the right to
accumulate wealth, Islam does not give this right,
Islam says do Infaq, whatever
wealth comes to you, invest it in further business,
invest it in trade, give jobs to people,
empower people, so Infaq
becomes a part of a simple system. And as
you see in foreign countries also, the economic
system is capitalistic but along with it there is a
charitable system running, there are charity
houses which help the needy by doing charity,
who do not have their basic needs
fulfilled, so these are two different
systems charity and economic system.
I was asking this question because our
viewers, our viewers, our youth who are
often studying in colleges, universities, are
also studying Islamiat
and are also studying other systems, there should be
clarity for them
that whether Islam has kept this system to
bring equality in a nation that some people are
earning well and whatever is left with them, they keep taking it
out and giving it to the needy
so that the needy remain needy forever or
Islam also has its own Iqta Saadi Nizam
which Islam has introduced, due to which there should be
total empowerment of the nation, its total
upliftment should happen and the class difference should be reduced, so
this was my purpose
of the question here, so how will you define Sadqa
in the world What is Sadqa? In other words,
Sadqa means the expenditure which you can do, that is,
its beginning is also reward and sawab and its
end is also reward and sawab, that is,
when a person gives Sadqa to someone, from the beginning
till the end, his intention should be only for the pleasure of Allah and reward and sawab
from Allah, he is close to Allah,
but can Sadqa be
given to a person who does not worship Allah, does
not pray, does not offer Namaaz
and also commits sins?
For Sadqa, first of all, the religious nature of that person should be
seen, but if someone is
in Istara, that is,
Mustar is in a very helpless condition, then it is
also permissible to give Sadqa to him, so it is the month of Ramadan,
because in this month, how would you like to
present what the best Sadqa should be,
in this month, how should
our viewers teach the children as well
that how to make them habituated to the best Sadqa,
as the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him) said There are
different sayings in different places, so
feeding a hungry person from that is the
best charity in relation to Ramadan.
Secondly, like in Ramadan-ul-Mubarak,
many people keep fasts and they do
not have that much money for Sehri and Ifta, so
charity should be given to them. Apart from this,
when someone keeps fast,
whatever ration and water is there in their house, whatever ration is there for the
whole month should be provided to them.
This is also charity, that is,
whoever has the strength to earn, should
earn. That is, Islam is
not making a system here that every poor, every needy should come and
start living only on charity and Zakat. The system is that a person has to
earn his livelihood by hard work. That
is, this charity is in a situation where a
person tries, his capability is complete
and still his basic needs are
not met, there the religion has
kept the system of Zakat and Sadka so that they can support it.
Yes, in this context, after all We have a question
regarding Fitr, which is also an obligatory Zakat-
ul-Fira, which is given out at the time of Eid. What is
its wisdom? What is its
wisdom? The wisdom is that
along with the rich, the poor should also participate in the celebrations of Eid and no
one should sit hungry in their homes
because Eid is for every Muslim, so the
poor should also celebrate with their children and
family members in a complete manner, just as the
rich people celebrate, they should
also wear good clothes and eat good
food on the day of Eid. Now, these people should wear good clothes and
eat good food on the day of Eid. Often, Fitr is given out on the
day of Eid and from where will the
poor go and get good clothes on that day?
What will he do on that day? The
Mustahab time for paying Fira is that it should be
offered before Eid,
but even if it is offered after Eid, then in
any case, it will be paid, it will
not be Qaza, the Fariza will
become Saak on the part of the one who pays it. Viewers, this was
Our topic today is Zakat, Sadaqa and Firah, which is
a welfare system of Islam,
where Islam does not want anyone to be in
need, and one who has no
or less need has the right to
fulfill the basic needs of his life.
Zakat and Sadaqa are a test of the law
that those who have and
if there is someone in need or helpless in front of their eyes who does not
have anything, they should help him with
Zakat and Sadaqa, so that
a big
class difference does not come up in the matter, the way we
see today that there are so many
oppressed people in Gaza, Palestine, so many children there have become
orphans, they have nothing to eat.
This is a scene in front of our eyes
where the entire
Muslim Ummah has the right to help them in the best possible way through Zakat and Sadaqa, especially
in this month, because the
most needy people at this
time are those who have neither a roof over their head
nor water. There is no food, no clothes, nothing.
We must try to help those
in our area, those who are close to us,
and especially the orphans. Make them
develop the habit of giving Zakat, Sadaqa and Fitrex. Make them familiar. Make
them aware of the reason why Islam has kept this system. It is mentioned
in the tradition that the person
's Salat is not accepted, Namaz is not accepted, he does
not pay Zakat. That means Islam has
put so much emphasis on the fact that you keep money and offer
Namaz, but if you do
not care for others and are not performing your due rights, then
Allah Subhan Ta'ala will
not accept your Ifrah di Ibadat either. We
hope that in this holy month of
Ramadan, along with our Ifrah di Ibadat, we should
also perform our Ijtima rights,
perform them properly and
achieve the best closeness to Allah Subhan Ta'ala.
