Review MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE

These days, it's hard to make a movie, and it's even harder to maintain its quality.
No doubt, the big names like Too Fast Too Dangerous, Terminator, Indiana Jones,
or even the Marvel Cinematic Universe can't keep their status as they were when they first came out.
However, hard doesn't mean impossible.
Between a bunch of competitors, there's one person who's still holding on to the rope from this year to the next.
He's got the heart of a fan, but he's not struggling at all.
It's Ethan Hunt, the one who's been doing the impossible.
After 27 years, Tom Cruise's movie has been constantly evolving and developing.
The sequel was rated higher than the previous one.
This year, that achievement was re-established,
with a 7-point mark on the box office and a promise to become a huge hit at the box office.
So, this time, Ethan Hunt's journey is really as good as what the media is talking about.
The new movie is at the top of the impossible list,
and it's going to be released right after this one.
As usual, let's go over some basic information about the movie before we get to the review.
In the first part of the movie, the mission is still under the super-specialist Ethan Hunt and the I.M.F.
Their mission is to stop the bad guys from touching the weapons that could affect the lives of all humanity.
This time, Ethan and his team have to fight with the whole world,
because everyone wants that weapon.
Meanwhile, the villains are not only harming the main character,
but also threatening the people he cares about the most,
putting Ethan in a complete crisis.
In addition to the familiar faces of the movie,
such as Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Vin Rimes, or Rebecca Ferguson,
the new superstars include Hayley Atwell, Tom Clementine, Cher Wickham, and many more.
Part 7 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who is behind the success of Part 5 and 6.
In addition, like Fast X or Across the Spider-Verse,
this impossible mission is only half of the big story.
The other half is called Death Reckoning Part 2,
which is expected to be released at the end of June 2024,
and is said to be the culmination of the story of Ethan Hunt.
That's all you need to know before you watch the movie.
And now, let's move on to the most important part of the video.
Without going into the details,
I think the impossible mission 7 is a great movie experience.
This is shown through the two most important factors, the image and the story.
Let's talk about the image first.
The movie is still full of Tom Cruise.
He is brave, but not less than Spider-Man.
The audience will enjoy extremely mysterious scenes,
such as two people driving while being handcuffed to each other.
Ethan Hunt is punching a super tight hole,
or a gunfight in the sandstorm.
In such scenes,
the characters show off their new skills,
so we don't have to wait for them to do anything else.
Not to mention,
the scenes are shot in slow motion,
so no matter how fast the character's actions are,
no matter how urgent the situation is,
the audience won't be blind.
I especially like the chase scene in Italy,
because the way the movie creates the feeling
as if we were sitting in the same car with Ethan Hunt,
watching without closing our eyes.
However, that's just the beginning.
At the end of the movie,
Ethan Hunt will make the audience tremble
with the movements that make the hero also admire,
such as flying a motorbike from the top of Mount Trafford,
fighting with the rebels on the top of the ship,
and speeding up to get out of the ship that is sliding down the cliff.
It sounds like the movie of Mr. Vin Diesel,
but in fact, it's not like that.
Because Dickson Tom Cruise has made adventurous scenes,
so they look very real,
to experience a new level.
For example, when Ethan talks in the air,
you will see that his face is also blown away by the wind,
or the delay of the blows.
Here, I would like to bow and express my absolute respect for Tom Cruise,
who is said to be the diamond of Hollywood action movies.
Maybe it's still not enough.
Although he is over 60 years old,
but Tom still acts like this,
this is the first impossible task.
He runs a lot,
more than the previous movies,
and speeds up on every terrain,
desert,
street,
roof,
because a ship is falling freely.
This level of action may make it difficult for a young man,
not to mention a man who is 61 years old.
In the same direction,
Tom's actions are also extremely bloody.
I have the feeling that each period of the male actor
contains all the weight of him inside,
so although they are not too professional,
but still very cool.
If he maintains this level,
it is not unlikely that he will be in the role of Ethan Han
until the age of 80, as expected.
Another interesting point of the film,
it is the unparalleled action glory for Tom Cruise,
which is also appreciated for other characters,
which are the two pink balloons,
Rebecca Ferguson and Paul Clemente.
Ferguson doesn't have to say much,
because she still maintains the spirit and strength
from the previous two films.
But with Clemente, it's completely different.
If you are used to the image of Mantis
who only knows how to use her external abilities
and be a shield for the gang of mercenaries,
then you should prepare yourself,
because the actress in this film fights extremely.
She doesn't talk much,
mainly spending time to guide the opponent,
and each blow is nothing short of Ethan Han.
That spirit, combined with the acting of the wild,
even the confusion,
makes Clemente appear very scary,
becoming a dangerous opponent of the main character.
Through this performance,
the Asian actress has really proven
how far she can go,
instead of being just a little talker.
To sum up,
in terms of image,
the first part is the quality of the story.
The original film is a mission impossible,
which is the action scenes with limited time,
overlapping every second.
However, the scale and risks of those scenes
are much larger,
making the audience really worried about the character,
instead of thinking like,
how can I succeed like last time?
Therefore, I think Mission Impossible 7
is a work that cannot be overlooked
for those who like the kind of films
What about those who care more about the story?
Is Dead Reconning a brilliant work?
It can be said that the film crew has tried
to blow a new wind
in the content of Mission Impossible.
This is clearly shown
through the way the characters are portrayed.
There is no more
a typical villain like Owen Davion
or Solomon Lane of the previous parts.
Instead,
Ethan Han has to face artificial intelligence.
But this AI is not good enough,
because it can recognize itself
and make its own decisions,
like the Matrix,
iRobot
and especially the 2001 A Space Odyssey.
This mismatch has caused chaos in the world,
when all the powerful nations are divided
and Hong is in charge of the superweapon.
In that situation,
the general invisibility makes Ethan Han's journey
more difficult,
because he has to face a lot of opponents.
Since then, the film has always kept the tension
when every wrong decision of the main character
can bring terrible consequences.
On the other hand,
this invisible villain can scare the audience
because he is too powerful.
If in the previous part,
the villains could be more powerful than Ethan,
but still be blown away by the main character at some point,
then the so-called entity in the film
is not like that.
It not only manipulates the main character,
but also manipulates his friends,
making the main character
and the situation go around like a whirlwind.
The audience will see an Ethan Han
more fierce,
more emotional,
everything like the computer program.
Not to stop there,
the AI's hypersensitivity
also allows it to create
some significant gaps in the story.
I will not reveal the details to avoid spoilers,
but you can just imagine it.
It is the karma that he has to pay,
as the title of the film mentioned.
After all,
I feel that bringing in a super villain like this,
although it is a bit far from the spirit
of the previous films,
it is still a good move
because it has a high timeline.
Currently,
the world is also gradually going crazy
with the development of the machine.
GPT chat is spreading
deeper and deeper into human life,
making many people
doubt what they can read.
The film industry is also in turmoil
when the screenwriter was attacked
because he felt that AI was more important than them.
Death Reckoning,
in the end,
is a warning of a dark future,
where the most beloved people
also have to give up in front of the machine,
and it is a really sad scene.
But do you know what's even better?
That is,
in the end,
the main actor was not fully reconciled,
but still found a bit of hope
to reverse the situation.
It is a reasonable conclusion
and will make many audiences
look forward to the next film.
In short,
the villain is the biggest highlight
in the story of Death Reckoning.
With great power,
it has done a lot,
from pushing the main character
into a poor environment,
keeping the atmosphere of the film
always tense,
making the audience
unable to ignore
and convey urgent and practical messages
about life today.
But,
no matter what,
the enormous power above
cannot cover up
the problems still present in the film.
The first problem of the film,
unfortunately,
lies in the role of the main character.
Despite showing a great performance
in the action scenes,
Ethan Hunt in this film
does not have many innovations.
He is still clumsy,
still ready to break the law
as before,
although he has been warned
not to do so.
Similarly,
the actions of the villain
may be scary,
but they are not strong enough
to push the main character
into the dark corners of the film.
Therefore,
I still find it a bit difficult
to connect with the super villain.
But,
this problem can be understood
because it can be a way out
to be solved later.
But,
the supporting characters
are another story.
The director, Grace,
of Hayley Atwell,
is honest,
although very personal
and has many flaws,
but still has no commitment
to Ethan Hunt.
The audience does not see
the two people interact
deeply enough,
so when Grace
stands in front of thousands of pounds
of hair,
forcing the main male character
to help,
many people
will not feel convinced.
In my opinion,
the most wasted character
in this film
must be Elsa Faust
of Rebecca Ferguson.
She appears too little,
each moment
does not leave
many hints about the story,
so the lack of value
made it stand out
in the first two parts.
Another drawback
may not be a weakness,
but I think
it will still cause controversy,
that is,
the intensity of the film.
In the previous parts,
the dialogues are often made
to make the film
more straightforward
and focus on action scenes.
In this part,
the characters talk
to each other a lot,
mainly to explain
about the artificial body
and the risks
they are facing.
Perhaps it is
because of that story
that the film
has a length
of up to 2 hours
and 43 minutes,
the longest in the chain.
For some audiences,
the way to do it
may slow the film
and delay it,
but maybe
others think
it is reasonable
to serve
for events later.
For myself,
this choice is reasonable
because I really want
to know more
about this force
after what it did
in the opening scene.
How about you?
How do you feel
about the film's dialogue?
Please leave your comments
for us to know.
In general,
I feel that the characters
have not fully explored
their potentials
in this film.
In terms of the interesting content,
although it is the same,
it is still thanks to
a strong reactor,
with enough thinking
and planning
of anyone.
Therefore,
I really hope that
the film making team
can take advantage
and dig deeper
into Ethan,
Grace
or Alana
in the second half
to create
a perfect ending.
That said,
I still really think
that Death Reckoning 1
is a quality film.
The film has just
upgraded the image
to an unbelievable level
and just told
a story
to the last seconds.
In terms of the experience
in the film,
I am ready to rate
Death Reckoning
as one of the top 3
mission impossible films
so far.
It is not a simple thing,
especially with the 7th part
in a film
that has done
a lot of extraordinary things.
Therefore,
I think the film
by the director
Christopher McQuarrie
deserves to be given
a chance by everyone
from Tom Cruise's fans
and the adventurous action
to those who just want
to have fun
after a long day
of intense work.
Oh,
and feel free
to enjoy the film,
even though it is
only half of the story.
But the film is not
boring,
it even opens up
more promising scenes.
In fact,
before I stepped into the box,
I was a bit doubtful
about the quality
of Death Reckoning
after seeing many projects
recently upgraded
before its release
but when it was released,
it did not reach that level.
But Tom Cruise
proved that
I was just
worrying for nothing.
Now,
I can say
Mission Impossible
is truly a treasure
of Hollywood
and I can't wait
to see what more
amazing things
it can bring
in the future.
May the force be with you.
I'm gonna make him
an offer he got me.
Play his tycoon.
Hasta la vista, baby.
