Hey friends and welcome back to my channel. Today we are going to be switching things up in this
room and I cannot wait to show you how it turns out. I got some new furniture, we're gonna do some
new table scapes, we're gonna cook a beautiful spring recipe. I cannot wait to share it with you.
If you're new here my name is Laura Nicholson. I love to share all things homemaking. I'd love it
if you would join my channel and if you're returning it is so great to see you. Okay guys
let's get decorating and cooking. So if you guys have watched my um kind of spring decor
decluttering I found so many gems in those boxes and I just got super inspired to do a new table
scape. So we are a family of six, we have four kids, and I will say that we don't typically
eat at this larger table because it is kind of more of a formal table and I just, to be honest,
we've had these chairs for probably seven years now and they're not super comfortable and they
sit a little low. So for our children it's like, I don't know how to explain it, but it's hard for
them to sit at this table and like reach their food properly. So I was just looking around on
Wayfair and trying to get inspired and I found these chairs. Oh my god, game changer. These are
amazing. Obviously I will link them down below if you're looking for chairs. I was beyond shocked
how incredible the quality was and I picked up six of them. I was nervous they weren't gonna fit.
They fit perfectly and so every night since we did this we have been eating at this table and we
love it. It is such a vibe. I cannot show you how it all turns out. First thing I need to do is take
the decor from last week down. This was my White Lotus inspired table scape, but I will tell you
not super thrilled about White Lotus season three. Tell me what you think in the comments down below
if you watch that show. Haven't been loving it, but I have been loving the new Love is Blind.
That's been really good. I think it's very sweet. I think the couples are lovely. That has been super
fun, but anyway I digress. I'm going to take this table scape down and then we are going to reset
this table. I found some cute blue and white items I'm going to add to this and I'm just beyond
excited. Tell us in the comments down below how are you doing? Are you getting excited for spring? I
heard it was 90 degrees in Arizona. Tell me what it is where you are.
Okay so the first thing I need to do is remove all of these chairs. I love these cobalt blue
chairs. I thought I was like I had a designer's touch when I ordered these back in I want to say
2016. Gosh it was a long time ago and all of this came from a company called Wisteria
beautiful stuff extremely well made as well. I just I need to move on we've had them for a long
time they're not comfortable we don't utilize it because the chairs are really uncomfortable so we
got to change that up. These however were I want to say they were about $200 a piece which was kind
of a splurge for us but I am going to sell the other chairs so I feel like whoever buys those
I can kind of offset it with that because they can just be recovered very easily. So for these
I had to build them it took me about an hour to build all six of them they came in two separate
pieces but I was so excited you guys when I opened this box a little bag fell out and it has rollers
oh my the first night we sat down I was like you know oh the kids will be fine they're not
going to play on them even though the box says don't play on them not for children to play on
but the kids started rolling all over the place but at least they're comfortable and they fit
perfectly I will show you on the table I cannot wait because I really do believe that these chairs
completely transform this space make it so cozy and I'm just again you never know with Wayfair
when you buy stuff there if it's going to be good or not this was a 10 out of 10.
Okay I'm going to tuck all of these babies around the table look at how different this looks tell
me in the comments down below if it looks different to you it feels like a different house
since taking my gap year of a year off of like going to work I feel like I'm starting to actually
have the ability to see the space around me and really decide what it is that I want it to look
like and that has been something very new for me I usually let the day kind of you know revolve
around kids and work and my to-do list but now I have time and space to actually think about the
things I want to feel in my home and wow this just feels so different I wish I had done this sooner
but here we are I just love them tell me what you think in the comments down below it just feels
like such a different space and thank you again to all of you who suggested moving this table over
to this side of the house this has just been such a lovely new thing for our family and I just can't
thank you enough I am still exploring colors and I agree with you that the walls need to be
I need to have some transitional colors in this house so we'll be working on that as well I will
need to hire somebody because these are 20 foot ceilings and obviously I'm not going to be able
to paint that on my own but that'll be in a later video okay so I'm going to do a little tablescape
here I found these really cute table mats I love doing a tablescape I since since before I even had
kids I always set our table at our home I just love it the kids look forward to it it's just
kind of something I love I've been trying to like change it up weekly has kind of been my thing
doing a new floral arrangement and a new tablescape has kind of been the fun part of just being a
stay-at-home mom and then I like to do a tablescape but I like to hide things in it that are silly
the kids always look forward to finding those as well we always have formal dinner it just again
hadn't been in this room since doing this table we have eaten in here every night and it's been
wonderful I have to be honest I feel not that I would be anything less than honest but I feel like
our family has been lingering at this table much longer than the other table so that has been a
wonderful new development for our family
I know we have a ways to go before Easter but I just thought these would be kind of cute to put
on the table for tonight's dinner I'm just going to be rolling these up and then sliding in the
cute little bunny ears I found those on Amazon they're very inexpensive if you'd like to order
them I will link them down below I like them more than the other burlap ones I have they're very
sturdy and they have um it's made out of metal and jute so they're like really really good quality
um very inexpensive as well but I'm just gonna roll those up and then for these I did slide a
little egg in there I don't know if I videoed it but that was one of the cute things we um I hit
up on the table for the kids but then one of them rolled on to the ground and Pepe was it was so
funny Pepe and Henry our cat and dog were running around it was like they were playing soccer it was
the cutest thing ever but we're gonna get this tablescape tidied up I also wanted to add some
candles just to bring again some warm uh energy and it is at night we just have like some low
lighting in here and it has just been so lovely once we're done in here I did want to go and reset
our other table that I haven't done a tablescape on in a very long time I had this inspiration
when I found these beautiful floral stems at Trader Joe's which is where I always get my
florals um I grabbed those and I decided to do a bright yellow um tablescape in there hopefully
it will bring the sun even though we have had some cold days
so for this table I decided to go with kind of a lemon vibe since we aren't eating dinner in here
at all anymore I mean I'm sure we will eventually have dinner in here again but this is where the
kids have breakfast so I decided to do like a sunny bright yellow happy color just because
you know mornings aren't always the easiest for kids so I did have these really cute shabby chic
I love this brand it's from Home Goods actually all both of the map sets I have are from the
shabby chic line at Home Goods that I just love and then I am going to just add these plates I
couldn't find more than four and because we're a family of six this is always the bummer if I find
like a set of plates and it comes in a pack of four at Home Goods and I can't find more I can't
make a full tablescape out of it so I did find some with lemons and then plaid these I used last
summer I just thought they're very sweet so I just decided to do a little mix match but I think
this turns out really really beautiful and those stems are so pretty when they're done and the
floral blossoms fall off I'm going to actually use them for a DIY project for Easter which I'm kind
of excited about I hope it turns out well tell me in the comments down below how is your home decor
right now are you still kind of in winter decor have you switched over to bringing in
little subtle spring pieces tell us in the comments down below what you have going on with your home
decor
so I was so inspired by spring I decided to run to the grocery store and pick up some things to
make a beautiful polenta and spring vegetable ragu I did end up adding chicken as the protein
we are going to bake that and then throw it on the grill for a couple minutes just to give it
some char marks and just make it extra delicious first thing I need to do is wash everything this
recipe I will type it out down below it calls for all kinds of delicious things that you could find
in a winter spring garden so we're doing peas radish carrots green onions I added I think I
said asparagus if I didn't I yes peas anyway and lots of beautiful herbs as well I'm really excited
the kids love this which was you know it's always hit and miss our youngest loves green beans and
he thinks asparagus is green beans and we just allow it because at least he's eating them but
everybody loved this it was very very easy to make first thing we need to do is get them all
washed and then we're going to prep all the ingredients and then throw it together this
recipe takes about 30 minutes it's mostly the polenta that takes the most time everything else
was very quick
in our next video I'm going to actually be harvesting our first garden harvest for my
winter garden it's mostly lots of leafy greens so I'm very excited I have a new recipe for that I
also I have a bunch of recipes coming up also it has been so lovely to be able to just creatively
cook fun new meals and just spend time in the kitchen versus having a meal prep day and
things like that like I've just been really enjoying this season of my life and I cannot
wait to have a summer garden I'm gonna triple the size of my garden this year and hopefully
our fruit trees start to wake up a bit and I don't think they will bear any fruit this year
but I'm just excited to see how they fill in and start to grow as well I do have a bunch of
things coming for the backyard I have a brand new table and chair set for the area to the left of
the pool that there's kind of nothing there and some other fun things that I'm really excited to
explore with you guys okay so to prep this it's very simple I'm going to throw a little bit of
olive oil here on some chicken breast we're going to throw some seasoning on that get it in the oven
and while that's cooking I want to get started on the polenta because that's the one that takes
the longest time so we're going to get that rolling and then we're going to start on the
so veggies are super easy I already have all of my garlic chopped up I keep it in the freezer
I am going to throw that into a pan with some butter and then I'm going to add in the vegetables
I'm going to do kind of the heartier vegetables first and then we'll add in like peas and
asparagus later so that it doesn't wilt down too much so this recipe calls for green onions
I did a three color the little mini carrots chop those up and radish I'm going to let this cook
down for about five minutes with a little bit of chicken stock and then once that is cooked
we will go ahead and add in our peas I also added in some asparagus I love asparagus I really like
it's one of my favorite veggies and then I have some snow peas as well I like to add those last
to keep them a little al dente so they're crunchy and delicious but this was all we added in there
very simple I went ahead and got the chicken on the grill for a minute to get it charred up I'm
going to chop this up then we'll plate it to plate it I'm just going to add the polenta to
polenta I add two tablespoons of butter and parmesan cheese and sometimes a little bit of
half and half if it needs it so that it's really creamy and delicious we're going to salt it and
then I'll add some of our beautiful veggies now for the veggies I also topped it with some parsley
and some chive and some basil I think tarragon would have been really delicious in this as well
but I'm just in the mood for basil right now so I added that and this comes out perfect
it will be typed out down below if you guys are interested in whipping this up for your family as
to mention that I did put a little zest of a lemon on top wow this dish was so delicious
super easy to make and our whole family loved it we enjoyed this table with all of our new chairs
you guys thank you so much for joining me today's video I am going to see you in the next video very
soon we are going to be harvesting our first winter garden okay guys I'll see you in the
next video real soon bye
