PUTTING UP A POLYCARBONATE GREENHOUSE / ALLOTMENT GARDENING UK

[Music] good morning everyone wel welcome back to my allotment Diaries my name's Emma these are the allotment Diaries thank you so much for subscribing to my channel and if you haven't already please do and for clicking on this video I hope you enjoy it the greenhouse is still standing so last Friday I put the greenhouse up um it was a huge job in my Vlog it wasn't so much of how to put it up and I didn't sort of film us putting it up in detail because I tell you what that was a job and a half that was so tough you did get instructions with it and we did try very hard to follow it but it's it's So the instructions are so complicated and there are so many steps and so many pieces look the same so there was a few pieces that we had to undo and then redo and as we started to do that I realized filming it and putting it up was just like absolutely impossible honestly we just had to focus focus focus on getting it up the video has not gone live yet so I can't actually see your comments on it but I I have an idea of what you're going to be saying because I have posted it to Tik Tok and Instagram and I've had a lot of comments and on Facebook as well a lot of you saying that I have to secure it down I am going to secure it down I have a plan for that um we're going to come back and do that the next weekend but apparently it can survive Winds of up to 45 mes hour and I tell you what it can so we've sealed everything shut on it and on the night on the Sunday night so we we'd come back we' taped it all up on on Sunday morning Sunday night we got gusts of 41 mph and I tell you what I was up most of the night worrying about my poor little Greenhouse the wind was insane bins were being FL blown over outside I could see the trees swaying and I was just so panicked that it was going to take off and just go but when I got here the next day absolutely fine completely in one piece so whether I got really lucky or I've just secured it really well in terms of like putting all the stopping air from being able to get into it I think that's the key um and it did stay standing but I'm not going to take my chances obviously I am going to secure it down it is quite heavy but I will secure it even more than that so don't panic and I know that's the main comment I'm going to be getting I will secure it down I promise it's not going to fly away I won't let it right I can hear you Einstein had to bring Einstein some new food because I've run out M worms I think my little boy was over enthusiastic with feeding Einstein at the weekend you've probably been fed enough for a year to be honest you had the whole bag anyway first job of the day is going to be to go and get two wheel B fulls of wood chip bring all that back um and then I'm going to work on the greenhouse today and just securing the area around it and like getting all the mud away wood chipping it down all that Malak so I'm going to make it sort of fit there at the moment's just been dumped and we're going to make it look like it's supposed to be there I have to feed you when I get back Einstein I'm going to go and get the wood chip now why am I talking to him why am I doing that explain oh Einstein [Music] [Music] we have had so much rain and it is so muddy here and slippery I'm actually terrified I'm going to slip over into the mud I really hope that doesn't happen seriously the last thing I'd need in my life right now is falling over in the mud I think I'd actually just cry and then go home genuinely I think that's just what I do a lot me life eh isn't it fun [Music] [Music] so this is the area that I'm going to be sorting out today this bit in between here and this bit in front of the greenhouse which will get very very overgrown if I don't sort it out now right I think that's going to need quite a substantial amount of wood chips so what I'm going to do is go back get another two three loads maybe um and I'll join you back here we'll have all the stuff we need and we will sort out the area so watch my face now see how like bouncy and full of life I am and then we'll check back in a minute when I've done three or four loads let's see [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] I know it looks like a lot of plastic remember this is all ground sheet that I pulled up from my plot that I'm reusing so I haven't brought any plastic um it's just what's already here the reason I'm using it is because this area will become very weedy sometimes I do push my luck a bit and I leave areas and I think or I take care of it and it always becomes an overgrown jungly mess so I'm learning from my previous mistakes and I am making sure that I really seal it tight I don't want weeds coming up here taking over the greenhouse you know I don't want it to be jangi I want to actually be able to access it and stuff so I think this is the right call one in front of it like that there why it's bit snazz to it okay let's wood chip it see how [Music] [Music] [Music] right no it's nowhere near enough so back I go have you finished it Einstein cuz I need to cover that bit up I know almost oh yeah you get that one then if I miss this bit out here I'll be in trouble I know I will and feel it Feel It In My Bones yeah I know I know [Music] okay that did nothing that did nothing right no no no I am being a little bit dramatic but like one wheelbarrow of wood chip does not go that far it's just like a little bit of that and I know you guys are saying in another Vlog that I'm not doing the pathways like thick enough but there's so much to do I think the best thing to do is just to get a layer down and then if I can get more later get more later hopefully we got more coming so yeah that's three wolbar loads of wood chip and it does look a lot better and I'm getting there if every day I come I get at least two wol barrows of wood chip it will get covered you know I just I'm just exhausted I just can't keep doing it I'm so sick of wood chip now I'm so sick of it it is most definitely looking a lot better around the greenhouse it's just really important that I I do this because otherwise the weeds they will just grow up even if I just leave the ground sheets down the weeds will come over the top so it is really a really important job cool got Windows got windows and everything love it right let's talk the inside of the greenhouse what we going to do in here first of all what I'm going to do is rake it over um get rid of any rubbish and stuff and just um assess the space face we made [Music] it it's not exactly where I wanted it to be this uh this greenhouse we built it here cuz there was more space there but I had the idea of sort of shimmying it around to where I wanted it to go but as we tried to do that one of the panels sort of popped out I'll what happened so we just couldn't do it and we just decided no it's best just to work around where it is so that's what we decided to do but ideally I would have had it moved over a bit so the pathway is not quite so big but that's the reason why we just could I didn't want to risk it it would have broken oh no oh no God what do I do I can't can't move it cuz it pops so I've just noticed it's been built on this which is a great big cane thing oh that's really annoying it can't stay on that so I'm not entirely sure what to do I would just move it forward a bit but I can't because the greenhouse will break what do I do my husband is going to absolutely kill me if he sees this video but I am going to try and just shimmy It Forward just a little bit I only needs to go a little bit God my husband is going to kill me I mean not literally but definitely figuratively right come on did I do it did I actually do it oh my gosh I think I did it let's check I did I did it I've moved it just forward enough fantastic however we have got now like like air underneath it which is not good so I need to get it back on a level surface right that's okay though that's okay we can do that oh go right we can do that so what we'll do so along this side I might need to get some more of this actually along this side we're going to have shelving to have seeds and stuff on can stop we can make a stop so we put that there [Applause] okay right so the idea is along that end there that will be slabs so that I can put some tables and have some like seeds growing and then this side is going to be a bed where I'm going to have tomatoes and cucumbers and then the middle will be I guess a wood chipped path I'm not entirely sure yet I will have a think about it and I don't know if maybe this bed is going to wrap around a little bit like an l-shape that might be quite nice anyway that's the general idea I think that's all I can do on the greenhouse today cuz I need more supplies what I'll do is I'll come back tomorrow and get three more wheelberry Falls of wood chip and I think that will I think that will um work I think it'd be enough then right Einstein's desperate for his food I've got new food for you though I don't know how you're going to feel about it yeah all right well we'll see right let's go feed Einstein and then let's do something else [Music] there sign I've got the scoop and everything it's very [Music] exciting oh it's got meal worms in here it has M worms you'll be all right with it then make sure you got some mil worms in it there you go all right wow there are you think of that oh straight for it though oh did you like it did you like it oh I think he does seems well into that he does he's getting excited and flying around that's what my rabbit does when I give him parsley he bites a bit and then he flies around the living room doing the Zoomies and he comes back and has another bite back again [Music] there there are M worms in there I just said that have a look well you're not looking hard enough then are you have a look yes oh you you little unbelievable I'm sure you noticed earlier in an earlier clip that some of my daffodils have flowered just over there you can see their little where are they there little pops of yellow coming out how lovely but a lot of my tulips here are starting to come up as well the only thing is I left the netting on um the netting's there to stop squirrel from digging up the bowbs but now they're growing I don't need it on and they've grown through the netting so I'm going to sort try and get the netting off without killing the Tulips without pulling them up you know and destroying them so this would be interesting oh God I'm going to I can't step in the bed there's so many coming up oh God Chip's flying everywhere now oh god oh no oh no who would have thought this had been such a hard [Music] job are you all all right did anyone just survive that odal did anybody survive yes quite a few of you that's amazing well done guys you're indestructible right I didn't decapitate too many of them the amazing thing about these tulips is that they're all they've all got different flowering times so when one batch sort of finishes another batch will be just sted flower and then another batch will flower after that so I mean hopefully I can see I have planted a couple on top of each other which is a bit annoying but you know what they're looking really [Music] [Laughter] good oh foxy foxy here he comes morning morning Mr far box again in a hurry where's he go in a hurry where's he go you didn't you cheeky little did you just see that unbelievable was that a message to me or something that felt like that felt very personal then didn't it you're always in a hurry these days as well he was always in a hurry he's always busy right I do hope you have enjoyed today's Vlog it was it's a little bit like um I'm Back to Basics because I got the Greenhouse up and doing Pathways and wood chipping and trying to sort out layouts and stuff but we are in March so things are going to get exciting seeds are going to go in the ground and there's going to be lots of growing going on over the
