Atomic Deck by Craig Petty Review.

hello welcome to real magic review my name is Steve fer and today I'm going to talk about the atomic deck by Craig [Music] Patty before we do this please like And subscribe if you like this and you spam you forever if you get the free thing here's the ad copy of this this has been a controversial one which is why I've done this I haven't taken this out and performed with it I don't really have to I don't think to to give you an opinion but remember it is only my opinion and my objective Discovery after a day of playing with bold claims this is AD copy you must provide undeniable proof it's time to unveil the atomic deck when David berglass first created the any card at any number he gifted the magic Community with a seemingly impossible puzzle that many thought to be unable uh a penro triangle of NeverEnding mystery now there was a book on this Richard calman um love the burglass effect any card at any number if you are new to the game someone names a card names a number between 1 and 52 deals down in its perfect form and that card is at that number performed beautifully by Mark Paul many times and famously um and David burglass of course now with all versions of this pretty much all of them there is the best case scenario and the slightly not as best case scenario meaning if you're lucky it's going to look super clean and amazing if it's not there's going to be some things that have to be done if you're a performer and slight of handers all that kind of stuff you can get around that and it's still a great trick it's just not quite as good as if it's super clean arguably maybe it's better because there's more process I don't know you decide for yourself but the trick as it is is a good trick I'm not sure it's quite as good as most people think but or in my opinion I don't find it to be as good I'm trying to be because it just doesn't excite me that much but it's good so people have found try to find ways of doing this and every version of this has a tradeoff all right there's no Perfect magic trick even if it was Flawless it wouldn't be you know even if you could do it every time like it was it wouldn't arguably be perfect but there's always a trade-off there's always something you're going to have to do magic doesn't exist all that kind of thing does the magician places the deck openly on the table actually before that it says with the atomic deck here is exactly what happens every single time every single time the magician places the deck openly on the table he does that every time everybody's asked to think of any card and a number everyone you got to look at the know everyone is asked not necessarily you can do this oneto one but it changes a little bit uh and any number no forces the audience doubles down by making sure that they avoid commonly selected cards and numbers right that's that that's important now yeah I don't want to give the so ult isn't it they can change their mind as many times as they wish once everyone is satisfied that their choices are uninfluenced and fair the magician slowly and clearly picks up the deck eyes burning there every micro movement and clearly sorry and begins dealing slowly and deliberately dealing cards one by one until the number is reached the magician turns the card over and exact card that they were merely thinking of there's quite a lot in there um they can change their mind as many times as they you might not want them to change them too many times depending on what happens and then make sure they avoid commonly selected cards and numbers now I think it's okay to say this I haven't watched Craig's response video to this purposely because they wanted to bias me but all I'll say is that the that is part of the presentation Perfection every single time is it Perfection every single time I believe not is it a good trick trick every single time yes if you can do the trick and it's a good trick is it a great trick is it a perfect trick no I don't think it is but that's my opinion you may differ here's what you need to know before figuring this out no memorization work no slight of hand easy to do give a no memorization work there is a way of doing this which most people are going to do using a phone now you're going to do this with the phone most of you there is a way of doing it without that's going to require some memorization work or looking at something awesome mathematics I'm out ain't going to happen so I'm not going to do that no slight of hand this does answer one of the questions that I got which is some people say that the dealing can be a bit iffy yes it can and actually after playing with this today there are a few times I thought I wouldn't have been happy with that this idea of them burning my hands looking at every micro movement I wouldn't be happy with that either I would be misdirecting every single time I did this now when Craig does it it looks beautiful Lloyd does it there was a little bit in the tutorial that thing happened um which is fine because you CH know why you're doing it but that to me isn't something I'd ever be happy about I'd never go look at this and deal down doesn't make it a bad trick just starts moving it away from this kind of perfect version or near perfect version now you've got Mark Paul on the the the trailer saying if that's how clean it is it's amazing and it is and it's beautiful and it's clean has has Craig solve the problem I'm not a massive like I don't know loads and loads about any card at any number I don't know the hundreds of different versions but I'm pretty sure there is no real solution other than maybe the original and using language and using psychology and all that kind of thing which there is in here that is involved and actually the presentation with the phone is totally justified I've got no problem using the phone at all and I think it actually makes it fun people get the phones out they can all get them out they can all one of them choose a card or a few choose a card and there's a process you may want to go through or not that's all fine and and I like this thing about you know let's look at the probability of of that car being Chosen and if it's high probability maybe you should change your mind that's a part of it as well that's fine as well all totally makes sense just again maybe moves it a little bit further away from this perfect version doing that on someone else's phone that's another thing as well so that's all very good we'll come back to that in a minute the cards are never cut past in then again there's no slight of hand like that but for me that dealing does require practice you're going to want to practice that very much can can be done in the participants hand hands I would not be happy with that at this point I'm pretty handy with slight of hands hand and um so to speak but I again I wouldn't be happy doing that and if I was going to do it I'd be misdirecting chatting to them doing all manner of things now roughing sprays it says no apparently this is the process would it arguably benefited from it I don't know and this is the other thing after playing with this with my sweaty clammy little hands for a day it's it uses a thing and I know that people have spoke openly about this I don't like doing that but it uses a type of thing I don't really I'm not that into I think over time it starts all going a bit weird the way the cards are and that's not the roughing this that's the other thing um there have been you know tricks with these types of cars before and I just I don't like the feel of them that's an opinion some people are fine with it and they use it again and again and again but after time things start happening and I get even less confident about what I've got to do that does that mean I wouldn't perform it in that state yes I would but I again there'd be management and there'd be a bit misdirection and there'd be scripting and all that kind of thing which is totally fine I'm fine with that but what you don't want to do I don't think is as it said look at it go out you'll be able to do it straight away you don't want to do that so at its purest which is 80% of the time this is a very direct very strong trick the other 20% you're going to have to do a bit of work it's still going to be a good trick but not a perfect trick and arguably maybe that if that happens it's not going to stand it that far apart from many other versions I've seen this straddles that thing about no it's not slight of hand and it's easy but it's going to C in practice and and I I'd feel more confident with slight of hand something I can control and if I get it wrong I can then sort of jam into a different trick which is the other thing quite happy with gimmick decks I don't really do stuff with Decks that it only really does that trick it's fine that you do this is my own thing so I want an out meaning oh I need to then do something else with the deck to then Build It Up This is a standalone trick with this deck unless you can find other things to do with it um the resets are fine most of the time uh but there's going to be more of a reset if you if certain things happen it's very difficult sorry but I'm sort of fluffing a little bit in because I'm trying to find ways of saying this so the good things are it's had it not been for the hype and we can't ignore that now I always tried to but it's happened and which is part of the reason I'm doing this I think people would have gone it and gone okay this is a bit of work um it's very clever it's really clever it really is it's a great thing the phone thing's fine I think maybe that should have been a little bit more explicit if I'd have bought this at the time literally pre-ordered it got it read all the ad copy seen the trailer I think I would have been a little bit disappointed with it had I not and it was just a normal thing of this this is a really good trick would come out a really good thing i' would have gone yeah it's very good it's not the sort of thing I'm going to do because again I I don't like what the way this feels some people are going to be fine with that and I know for a fact I know that some people use similar things as I've said if I'm going to use my phone I'm probably going to do something similar but with a different app and this isn't an app it's a website so they can go on it but but there's a there's a way you can do it using your phone that's that's super cool with notes that's great uh very clever and there's you know joshy's design it's all really well done um and I like the way they've they've kind of scripted around it and and and Justified it but if I'm going to get my phone out I'm probably going to do a different trick now arguably if you're doing a car trick and using a phone it detracts even more from the idea of it being an online thing which it kind of isn't anyway that kind of AIDS you but there are things with things like you know toxic plus there there's any card any number with that a pigeons app there's there's the stranger which is you can phone a stranger and again the phone is Justified in that yes it's more expensive so that's thing this is not a bad price for what you get I think if you like the trick but those issues are there for me it's not quite the trick it is sold as meaning I don't think it's quite the game changer I don't think it's going to be something that a year down the line I'd be doing I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you disagree with that now I genuinely think that Craig and Lloyd and think that I don't think they they're doing Hyperbole and they're kind of saying oh this is brilliant I'm thinking no it's not really saying that and that is what I truly believe on the trailer there is quite a lot of them talking about these issues if you see them as issues so they're very aware of it so they they spend a lot of time you know it's like an hour before they say this is how you do it talking about the creation of it they're very excited about they're very pleased with themselves they should be because it's very clever but is it going to be the the thing they say it is who can tell my feeling at the moment moment is for me not which I it hurts me to say I'm not happy about it I really was hoping at the end of the day I'll be you know showing H and performing it and uh and it's not probably something I will do but disagree with me please please disagree with me and I know crazy that you're going to disagree with me because it's your trick and you love it and and Lloyd I know that so you know that we can sort of agree to disagree we can disagree agreeably um is it a terrible trick absolutely not is it a clever trick yes is it a strong trick yes even if the 20% thing or the 10% thing happens depending on how you look at it that's still a strong trick it's still clever it's still good people are going to still like it but I know for a fact that after an amount of time with my sweaty little hands or putting it in other people's hands taking it gigging um it's not something I'm going to be that confident doing right let me go to the the questions um I'm not cutting any footage or anything into this so uh my prediction you will like the stand up paror routin yeah so for stand up and paror again all good but it's a standalone thing which I think will definitely work and definitely get strong reactions I just don't feel at this moment that confident with it first of all look forward to I love your studio thank thanks um all right uh trick looks amazing I'm interested in two things got me got me glasses I can't see who is James something um sorry about that crazy demonstration trick all looks amazing I'm interested and they're real right those live demonstrations uh it's been claimed that the first delt card is a bit tricky I think it can be is that your experience second with all the convoluted procedure to arrive at the card is the effect worth all the procedure to get to the spectator's name card I think it can be and and I don't think it it feels that convoluted if you present it the way they do you know you talk about present you know you can have a look on this website now there are other tricks like w Wiki test it people look at it's again if I'm going to do it I'll probably do that but if you're a big any card or any number fan it's that buildup is going to be stunning this idea of you not knowing what the card is is really clever as well so but again there's process to get there but it's a good strong piece of mentalism this kind of think stop thing and all and all that there's lots built into this and there's there's a lot going on which is which is positive um I think it can be an amazing trick uh just how the cards feel I don't like the feel of them but that is a very personal thing I never have it's just not something I feel that comfortable with but then I've been playing with cards every day for years and that's what I'm comfortable with and they feel different the design is great by the way there's a reason why they're not bikes um but again it it adds to that thing you're probably not going to want to if you do other card tricks you're not going to want to mix them um it's not the card or number they initially name it is 80% of the time apparently don't judge don't you know I'm not statistician but um but apparently they worked with I can't remember his name I'm so sorry cuz this has been a quick one of my brains mush um but they have looked at all that stuff unbias Magic reviews uh crunched the numbers and it was more than CRA I thought I don't know no I can't uh comment on that um I don't someone says uh magic magic M don't really understand the controversy this trick is causing is it perfect no is it um the copy a bit High F yes but no more than any other magic trick seems like a decent release to me I think it is a decent release I really do it I I will say that when I read that I think they have egged the Perfection you know every single time Perfection it's not no magic trick is and I think going into this it's like with movies you know every movie trailer tries to make it out to be the biggest and best film that's coming out and of course we know it may not be so what we do we either go and see it and just you know take the hit if it isn't great which I I quite happily do but it again does cost $50 to do that saying that going to see the monkey tonight C 50 Quid pretty much with popcorn and everything and that was good but um don't know why that but there you go uh but this is a bit more of an investment so what we learn is that we yes we know they're going to sell it on it's it's going to be marketing copy and that's very important uh that we know that that isn't it's going to be built up that's what they do so we make a choice we pre-order or we wait and sit see what people think and watch reviews like this and then make an informed decision hopefully I've allowed you to do that I don't want to slate this I want to say it's terrible it genuinely isn't um I'd be interested in see if anybody's played with this for like a couple of weeks and then how it feels because my feeling is that it would over time you'd want to get another one which again if you're performing in parlor is is I don't mind that but um I wonder as well and it's a genuine wonder whether if because if you do this on Zoom you don't have to it's pretty Flawless right you can do this on zoom and I us do Wiki test on Zoom it just even takes away a part of the it's just so good if and I'm not putting thoughts in people's heads here on words in people's mouths I have genuinely have no idea but I'd be interested to see if Mark Paul had seen the whole version with everything as he might have would he have been that is you know that is so clean that is so per perfect cuz again it's great but it's not that clean there's stuff going on as we know and I've banged on about so there there's my thoughts good trick is it a great great great great groundbreaking trick not in its present State could it potentially be with a bit of tweaking maybe um but I think it's an interesting one and I will finish that there let me check I haven't forgotten anything CU I did make some uh notes Sor this kind of been recorded as live so it's a bit mess uh let's have a look um I think we're all good I think I've covered everything so thanks very much I'll read the burgass effect book if you're into any card at any number the book's great to read it really is and and I think a bit a slight of hand in there is worth it you know put the time in you got to be a genius I can't do it cuz I can't do math but I'm still working on being able to do the very simple mathematics to be able to do it but it's it's really worth a look and look at as he wins look at all the other versions and uh make your mind up all right comment below I am doing more now
