I've shot archery all my life but I've
never really sat down and analyzed my
shot today we're going to video my shot
my form we're going to analyze it
personally Kramer is going to analyze it
and I'm also curious what you guys think
what are some things I could do better
and I'm going to see if these
improvements can make my shot better
first I'm going to take a handful of
shots just my normal form as natural as
I can we're going to get video shots
from each angle so that we can see all
sides of my form and see what I can do
better
I'd say 3/4 of them felt good there's
some that I felt like I didn't get full
draw or something like that one that I
hit my wrist on I don't know what I did
different there see yeah my hands open I
could just rest those fingers on yeah I
feel like I'm not at full draw not quite
and I think that's the one where I slep
my wrist I mean even when you're like
when you g you turn your wrist you know
your form comes in a little bit what you
see right there this
needs to be over here cuz ideally want
it like the tip of your
elbow right here be completely in line
with the Riser going all the way down
down yeah down the arm yeah I want that
elbow at least in line with the arrow
yeah there is two main things that we
saw in the video that I want to see if I
can fix number one being I'm shooting
with the Open Hand which is not bad for
the shot itself but as soon as I release
the
Arrow I have to grab the bow so I'm
going to try and just relax these
fingers like this so I'm still not
gripping the bow tight but I don't have
to move my hand uh and add that extra
motion every time I shoot the second
thing was um back tension basically so
my elbow is anchoring around yeah that's
normal yep keep going yeah which feels
funny but I'm going to have to practice
that to get that back behind me those
two things I think is going to make a
big difference in my shot and this will
also help me this back attention here
will also help me make sure I get to
full draw every time cuz it's going to
be a hard stop adjusting my grip Just a
Touch relaxing these fingers not going
to drop the Bow by just relaxing these
here that looks so much better does it
feels weird oh it looks so much
better yeah you look more um stable I
think yeah that feels good nice at first
it felt like like it's just less grip
than this and that's what I was doing
after the shot so I kind of feel like
got less stability but during the shot
I've got more stability and I can grab
it like this when I need to walk around
but it's a it's an interesting feeling
for the first couple but then after by
like five or six it's like okay do the
have you ever seen the drill against the
wall uh where you shoot like this yeah
yeah so you shoot right up against the
wall or something and then cuz when you
shoot your elbow doesn't go that way
it's suppos to go that way yeah should
go this way and so you'll know
immediately by a little elbow bomb but
you can also just like you could do that
on this right here so you'll feel it but
it's not going to hurt
you how'd that feel
um felt weird it looked pretty good did
it pretty good
there I'm curious with that alignment
from behind where it looks like
everything's in a line if um you can see
if my elbow still goes back when I
release the arrow or not okay or if that
alignment fixes it and not a bad group
this is the one you told me I didn't get
to full draw
on it's definitely going backwards so
actually push on it like feel the
difference in muscles that's being used
now push on
this see how you're extending your
shoulder back like using your lat more
and here you're like pulling into your
back strap more kind of okay I'll hold
my hand here and you push my hand out of
the
way yeah that look like there's
definitely another half inch that I'm
getting out of the draw there when I
think about getting all the way back
yeah so everyone's skeletal structure is
going to be a little bit different and
so I don't think it's awful if your
elbow goes back slightly but I think if
you're going back super far it can be a
sign that you're not engaging your back
muscles and so you're using maybe more
of your bicep and your shoulder to hold
it which is smaller muscles is going to
be harder to be stable yeah may not be
engaging the back muscles or may not be
at full draw yeah because then I've got
room to go back yep you kind of pull
behind it and then kind of settle in oh
you know what I'm saying yeah I have
seen people do that I don't what is that
I don't know but yeah they'll go tell
us they'll go past and then kind of set
in yeah and then set into that
structure I found I found that useful to
try to get to full draw more but I don't
know if that was enough practice to
implement all of it
but hitting your most popular spot
though yeah it's true I should aim at
the
center I think your aiming point is just
off this is a new bow to you today so
yeah okay it was about five or six of
the s look good on alignment mostly low
but as far as left to right better than
I was doing sometimes you can see what
you can't feel and so it can be super
useful to film yourself I didn't really
realize that I was catching the bow
every time and that I was so far from
getting all the way into alignment with
full draw but just with a couple of
videos I was able to see those and now I
can work on it check it again and work
on it so that can be a super useful tool
if you're wanting to work on your shot
with iPhones it's super easy to set up
slow-mo so that you you can just take a
video you can have someone do it or set
it up somewhere take a couple videos and
then just analyze your shot test out
something I think one key with this is
to not focus on where you're hitting on
the target when you're working on
adjusting a habit yeah I think that's a
really important thing because if you're
focusing on where you're hitting then
you're going to think you're failing
when in reality you're really training a
new muscle and then once you get that
muscle train go back to aiming go back
to focusing where you're hitting on the
target scooting really close to the
Target can be really helpful for that
and yeah sometimes take a couple steps
back to go forward or take a couple
steps closer to the Target so you can go
backward stay shatterproof keep getting
better we'll see you on the next video
