Just wanted to make vlog about my ride on the beach. Sometimes I like to use these to explain things that happened in other videos. My KLR650 Riding on the Beach video is more of a short film, and I didn't want to take away from the music by adding narration.
Today I went to a beach that's about an hour away from where I live.
It's a horrible beach for swimming, but it's a great beach to ride a motorcycle on. I don't
know if you've ever tried to ride a heavy bike in the sand before, but it's a nightmare.
This beach, the sand is packed down really nice and hard so you can ride on it no problem.
I planned to make a cool video about riding at this beach.
I went to move the tripod from one place to another and then ride in front of it a bunch
so I could pick kind of the best shot from that location. The second time I went to move the
tripod, the bike sunk. The kickstand sunk in the wet sand and I was right there. I had a hand on
it as it went down and when I pulled it up, the clutch lever was broken. I couldn't believe it.
It fell so slowly into this nice, incredibly soft sand and I guess the levers on the KLR must be
made out of solid pewter or something. That thing broke really easily. So that was the end of my
filming, but I came home and I started editing and I found this incredible song that was just
this incredible royalty-free song and I started editing to the beat of that and even though I
didn't film for very long, I ended up making a video that I really liked. Getting home without
being able to use the clutch wasn't very fun, but I made it okay. I just have to give it a
bunch of gas and stomp it into first and I actually got up into fifth gear no problem,
well a little bit of problem, but a little bit of tugging and pulling and then I somehow made
it all the way back to my house without having to stop once. Through the city, through traffic lights,
made a couple left turns. I just happened to come up on some intersections that are usually very
busy and I just hit these all these perfect lucky spots where no cars were coming and
otherwise I would have been stuck. I would have had to stall the bike in the middle of a busy
intersection, but made it home okay. The video that I ended up with from the beach was actually
really cool. I wanted to try out some slow motion stuff so it worked out kind of that I
didn't get very much footage because I could put everything in slow motion and make the video
actually a little bit longer, although I wish I could have got it, you know, more like three
minutes instead of a minute and a half or whatever it is. Anyways, go check out the video.
