Today I am sharing my favourite outfit colour combinations that I reach for for my everyday outfits. I'm also sharing tips on how to create your own go-to colour combinations as well as a few styling tips to help you dress better. Knowing your outfit colour combinations makes styling outfits so much easier, and helps to simplify the process of getting dressed.
Knowing what colors you love to wear and in what combinations can really help to simplify
getting dressed in the morning.
For example, if I wake up in the morning and I feel like I really want to wear a particular
pair of blue jeans, I already know what other colors that I like to wear with blue, so then
I can easily reach for those pieces to complete my outfit.
Knowing the color combinations that you love to wear also really helps when you are shopping
for new pieces as well, because it helps you to buy items that will seamlessly fit into
the wardrobe that you already have, so that they can be easily mixed and matched.
So in today's video, I wanted to share some of my favorite go-to color combinations that
I love to wear at the moment, and these are all examples from my current wardrobe.
I do not expect you guys to love all of them or wear them all yourself, but it's just to
inspire you to start creating your own color combinations as well that you love to wear.
In the past, I've created videos about how I created my own color palette, how I match
colors in my outfits, so I will link a playlist above also that features all those color videos
if you're interested in diving more into the topic.
So let's get started.
The first color combination is brown and blue.
I wear a lot of blue clothes, and then I tend to have a lot of brown and tan accessories.
Here I'm showing it styled with off-white.
Choosing a neutral color keeps it simple and clean.
For the next outfit, I've chosen to now pair the blue t-shirt with blue jeans.
I love mixing different shades of blue together.
As I wear a lot of blue, the mixture of different blue shades is another color combination that
I love.
If I'm wearing blue with blue, I often love to finish the outfit with brown accessories
again, or I often choose my silver ballet flats.
I love the way that silver pairs with blue, so that's another color combination that I
love to wear.
Here is another example of mixing white with blue and brown.
This blazer is a really deep, dark navy, and I love how it pairs with the silver ballet
flats again.
So moving on from these similar color combinations, another color that I really love is anywhere
between brown and mustard orange.
And I love simply pairing these brownish jackets with black and off-white or cream.
I've realized recently that I love wearing colorful tops with light bottoms, so that's
the next color combination.
It really can be any colorful top which suits my skin tone paired with a light colored bottom.
It's nice to find colorful tops that suit your skin because wearing the right color
around your face can really make your features pop.
It's a nice change from wearing a basic black or white t-shirt.
So I've got a few more color combinations to show you guys, but I just want to take
a moment to think about how you guys can think about your own color combinations to create
for your wardrobe.
So as you can see so far, all my color combinations are kind of like mixing and matching different
colors from my own color palette.
So you won't see any pink in any of my color combinations today because that's just not
a color that I wear at the moment.
However, pink comes in so many different shades, tints, and tones and different vibrancies.
So it can be really bright or it can be quite muted.
It can have more black added to it or more white added to it, and it can be warm or it
can be cool.
So pink comes from adding white into red and then deeper colors like burgundy, like the
burgundy that I wore just then comes from adding black to red.
So I know for myself that I usually prefer to wear those really richer colors that have
that black or gray added into them.
It can kind of mute them down a bit or create a really dark, rich color.
So keep those kinds of things in your mind when you're wondering about your own colors
that you like to wear.
And then when you're thinking about matching those colors in different color combinations
for your outfits, I have said many times before that I usually like to pair a colorful piece
with a neutral piece in my wardrobe.
It just keeps things really simple.
So like this burgundy top that we just saw, I can pair this with a light neutral trouser
or a dark neutral trouser, just like you can see on the screen now.
Obviously the trouser though, whether it's light or dark still has to be the correct
mood of trouser.
So if I was to pair this burgundy top, which just has a little bit of dressiness to it,
if I was to pair that with a black trouser that was more dressy for me and my lifestyle,
this would then create an overall outfit that was way too dressy.
So if I'm pairing it with a darker trouser, it feels a bit too work-like and a bit too
formal and that's not right for me and my personal style and my lifestyle.
So I paired it with a dark denim jean and that gave it that casual edge that I need
in my outfits.
But I just wanted to point this out as being two different ways that I could wear this
colorful top, pairing it with neutral bottoms and the kind of things that I think about
when I'm putting the overall outfit together.
And then if you're wanting to pair like a colorful piece with another colorful piece,
as opposed to a more neutral piece, then I've found the color wheel to be really helpful.
Just keeps things simple, but you still want to be thinking about the different vibrancies
and the different shades and tints and tones that you like to wear when you are using the
color wheel to match your outfits.
I talk more about the color wheel up in this video here.
The other thing to think about with your outfits is how your accessories can bring in that
third color to your outfit.
So I've already spoken about how I love to use brown and silver in my accessories and
particular and particular and particularly, oh my gosh, and particularly, did that, was
that right?
I think that was right.
And then I laughed.
Damn it.
So I've already spoken about how I like to use brown and silver in my accessories and
particularly with my blue outfits, I find that brown and silver look really good and
match really well with blue.
So let's have a look at a couple of different color combinations now.
So this next color combination used to be a big no-no in the fashion world, and that's
black and blue.
In this outfit, my jacket is a really dark navy.
It's a little bit hard to see on camera.
And then the t-shirt and jeans are black.
This next outfit shows the pairing of black and blue together again.
This is an outfit I've been wearing a lot recently since the weather has become warmer
in Sydney.
Before showing you my new green jumper that I've added to my wardrobe, I want to share
two more neutral color combinations that I often wear.
The first is black, gray, and brown.
As you can see, my brown accessories are used a lot to add some warmth into my outfits.
The next neutral color combination is black and beige.
When I'm feeling like I want to lean into my minimal chic side of my style, I love this
combination.
And it's so easy to mix and match black and beige basics.
And these are a couple of ways that I like to do it.
So green is a color that I've wanted to experiment with more, but I wasn't sure what shade of
green.
I started off with this green cotton jumper from Everlane.
I have the jumper already in gray, and I love the shape of it.
So I knew I would get wear out of it.
It's a light cotton and it's boxy and not too long.
So I don't need to tuck it in if I don't want to.
I've worn these so much.
The cost per wear for these jumpers would be so low.
So I highly recommend them for anyone who likes the shape and the nice light cotton.
I've washed them each about three times on a very delicate wash, and they've come out
great.
This color is new for me, and since getting a bit of a tan, I'm loving the color on my
skin.
I'm wearing it with cream and brown a lot, and also blue jeans.
But I think next year I want to experiment with a slightly darker shade of green, as
I know that I love those darker colors around my face.
Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.
Bye!
