Hello, hello! Welcome to the fifth day of Parola Week.
Today's star is going to be T-28, a Soviet medium tank, which sometimes is referred to as a heavy tank.
To be fair, it is a large vehicle, weighing 32 tons and having length of almost 7.5 meters.
The production of T-28 began in 1932, and for its time, it was quite a modern vehicle.
It had features like powered turret traverse, the floor of the turret moved with the turret itself, and each vehicle had a radio and intercom system.
Over 500 T-28s were built, but only three have survived to this day. Two are in Finland, and one is in Russia.
The main turret houses a 76mm main cannon, and one machine gun as a coaxial, and another machine gun as a rear-facing one.
There is a mount for a machine gun on the roof of the main turret for anti-aircraft duties.
The small front turrets each have their own machine guns.
This one here on the display is an up-armored model, so its front armor has been increased from 30mm to 80mm.
And the 20mm side armor received an extra 10mm of armor as well.
The Finns gave this tank a nickname, Mail Wagon, because one of the captured vehicles was transporting plenty of postcards and other mail.
Also, the large number of road wheels and long length of the vehicle gives it a bit of a train-like look.
Two vehicles were captured during the Winter War, and another wife during the Continuation War.
That's the T-28.
Thank you for watching! I'll see you in the next video. Bye!
