if you're doing a French press
regardless of the coffee you want to
have a medium coarse or even a coarse
grind to it um if you do a mocha pot you
want to have a medium grind if you're
doing an espresso you want to have a
fine
grind and all of those things matter the
grinder that you use a lot of people
including myself um will use the blade
grinder the problem with the blade
grinder is it pulverizes the Coffee Bean
to a certain extent so some of it will
be the grind that you want but there'll
be a lot of powder or fine so it just be
a lot of very fine powder and if that
goes into your coffee it does a few
things it muddies it up first of all um
even filters it's hard to capture some
of them because they're so fine but it
overe extracts the coffee and so you can
get a bitterness that wouldn't have been
there otherwise
or you can just get a it changes the
flavor profile where if it's a delicious
coffee but if it's ground wrong you
taste to say well I don't like this
coffee uh this isn't good well you're
drinking it in a way that it was it
should never be
prepared uh so grinding coffee for the
right
situation the grind matters depending on
how you plan to prepare it so those
things all matter uh the temp
temperature is another interesting thing
if you sit down and you have a bourbon
Rosado pick any and you drink it when
it's
hot and then you go back a few minutes
later when it's cooled down a little bit
tastes a little bit different than when
it was hot and if you let it cool down a
little bit more it tastes yet again a
little bit different as that temperature
goes down the The Taste changes it's uh
it's pretty fascinating you kind of
figure out The Sweet Spot is the
absolute temperature of of the
extraction I've never found that to be
the best taste but about four or five
minutes into
it where that temperature drops a few
degrees that's where you're getting all
that flavor then as it get gets colder
it just you know you can you can relate
it to food you know the food has its pee
temperature
you don't want it so hot you're burning
your mouth but you want to have it hot
to where all the flavors are there and
as it gets cold you know maybe it gets
you know it gets greasy it just it's
just not as
good and coffee is no different than
that more I learn about coffee the more
I realize how similar it is to Wine yeah
