Women Football : The Hammers Score in Stoppage Time to Snatch a Point! | Barclays WSL 2024-25

Both teams giving the ball away in these early phases. Ueki goes to ground. Could there be an opening here for City? Certainly a chance for a shot on goal. There is one other game in the WSL this evening. Chelsea versus Leicester City has kicked off. As the shot comes in, and it's gathered by Schmick. That's Paul from City. Offers the chance for West Ham to take the lead. And it's a brilliant save, granted. And West Ham, dutifully accepted, coming ever so close. It's Puebel with the strike. Plenty of willing runners ahead of Martinez, who looks to go alone. Gorey now for West Ham. Such good direct play. It's a flicked header from Ueki. Gorey just with a little glance up, knew exactly. Good turn from Broad. Nice bit of footwork. The shot comes in. Move that ball a little bit more quickly. A little bit more intensity. Offers some real danger. The delivery comes in. It's a really positive run from Ueki. And that is a brilliant reactive save from Yamashita. Manuela Pavi coming on. In place of Shakira Martinez. Martinez, who are being in a really advanced position, whips the cross in towards the back post. Jess parks up for it. And the ball loops into the gloves of the West Ham United keeper. Broad, good play from Jill Broad. She is not a player you want to give the ball away to. Broad with options around her, looks to play the ball back. Can Murphy get there? She can. Oh, it's all scrappy. It's all a little bit messy. It's all a little bit panicky as the shots eventually aim towards goal and straight at the keeper. Murphy makes way. And on comes Manchester City's top goal scorer, Bunny Shaw. And no player to score more goals against Rhianne Skinner than Bunny Shaw. Seven in total. Five when Skinner was manager at Spurs, and two while she's been manager here at West Ham United. So I'm sure when Skinner looked over to her right-hand side, that was not a move that she wanted. And can Bunny Shaw help City take the lead with her first touch? She forces a really good save. And here's Fowler. Broad on the edge of the area, gets the shot away. And just by the introduction of Bunny Shaw, it seems. Not one, but two shots on target. Look at her movement. Some space now for Broad to roam. Left-footed cross comes in. Shaw with the acrobatic kick. And she's been on the pitch for two minutes. Delivery smacks off of Puffy. And could it fall to Beamboy? It does. It smacks the underneath of the crossbar from a tight angle as well. You can hear the noise almost of that ricocheting shot. It bounced and then fell on the half volley. Here's Miedemaer. Out to Fowler. Fowler with the delivery. Bunny Shaw. And Bunny Shaw doing what Bunny Shaw does best. Scoring the all-important goals. To help Manchester City. Pavie. Plays the ball forwards to Urethi. Pavie now in on goal for West Ham. Gets the shot away. And there is the equaliser. West Ham United have battled and battled away. Here is the full-time whistle. Late drama as West Ham United salvage a point against Manchester City. Who were looking to hold on to the game and nudge themselves back into the top three. It ended up being the story of the substitutes.
