Government Shutdown: Here's The Truth They Won't Tell Yo

So right now, we have the risk of a U.S. federal government shutdown if the politicians don't
come to an agreement by tomorrow, Friday, March 14th, by midnight. So I'm going to give you an
update on the situation, I'm going to give you my prediction, and I'm also going to be exposing
lies on both parties and the reality of the situation. Okay, so here's where we're at
right now. So this is a Thursday afternoon, March 13th. So the federal government needs
to pass their government funding bill by Friday, March 14th, by midnight. If they don't, then the
federal government is no longer funded and they will shut down. Okay, now it's very important
that you understand this. It's going to be crucial for the rest of this conversation.
So the Republicans control the House of Representatives, 218 to 214. To pass this
bill in the House of Representatives, they just need a majority vote. So if all the Republicans
unite in the House of Representatives, then they can pass this without a single vote from the
Democrats. Okay, but in the Senate, it's not the same thing. So in the Senate, the Republicans have 53
seats of the 100 seats. But to pass this in the Senate, they need 60 votes. So even if
the Republicans unite in the Senate, they're going to need some of the Democrats to vote
in favor of this, to pass it. Okay, so on Tuesday, March 11th, the government funding bill passed in
the House of Representatives. The vote was 217 to 213. Only one Republican defected.
So it's basically almost all the Republicans voting yes and almost all the Democrats voting no.
Okay, so why did the Democrats vote no? It's because the Republicans did not get any inputs
from the Democrats. They literally didn't even ask the Democrats because they didn't have to
in the House of Representatives because they have a simple majority. So obviously, I mean, if the
Democrats didn't give any input on this, they're going to get upset. So I want to show you what
the Democrats said. Funding the government should be a bipartisan effort. But Republicans chose a
partisan path, drafting their continuing resolution without any input, any input from congressional
Democrats. Because of that, Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture
on the House CR. Our caucus is unified on a clean April 11th CR that will keep the government open
and give Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation that can pass. We should vote on that.
I hope, I hope our Republican colleagues will join us to avoid a shutdown on Friday.
Okay, so now let me give you more details about this government funding bill coming
from the Republicans. So here it is in a nutshell. So the government spending bill
will be roughly equivalent to last year, so fiscal year 2024. But here are the biggest changes.
Defense spending will increase by $6 billion compared to fiscal year 2024.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so ICE, will receive an additional $485 million
for deportation efforts. Non-defense spending cuts will be $13 billion.
Okay, but you have to, I mean, just look at these numbers. I mean, these are the biggest changes.
But keep in mind that in the grand scheme of things, $6 billion more and $13 billion cuts,
that is peanuts compared to the trillions that the government will spend. So essentially,
spending in 2025 will be equivalent to 2024. But you really have to understand why the Democrats
or any politician would be upset if they wrote a bill without their inputs. It's because although
the spending levels are the same as last year, the Republicans are reallocating how the money
will be spent, and the Democrats didn't get a say. So here you can see how the Republicans
want to reallocate certain categories. Okay, so the government funding bill passed in the
House of Representatives. Now the Senate needs to pass the bill. But you have to remember
that the Republicans need some of the Democrats to vote yes. The Republicans have 53 seats,
they need 60 votes. And of course, if the Democrats vote against the bill,
then the Republicans are going to paint the Democrats as being responsible for
shutting down the government. And you have to remember that the deadline is by midnight
tomorrow, Friday. Now the big question is, will there be a government shutdown? I want to show
you what President Trump thinks. So a reporter asked him, will there be a government shutdown?
The reason I'm saying that is because it's difficult to hear the question.
Is there going to be a government shutdown at the end of this week?
Could happen. I mean, the Democrats want that. They want to destroy the country.
So I can't tell you, but it could happen. It shouldn't have happened. And it probably won't.
I think the CR is going to get passed. We'll see. But it could happen. You never know.
Okay, so according to President Trump, he says that he thinks it could happen,
but he doesn't think it will happen. Okay, now I want to be completely honest with you. Both
parties, Republicans and Democrats, they're both lying. I'm just going to give you the facts. We're
going to start with the Democrats. I want to show you what the Democrats in the House of
Representatives said. So please take a look. House Democrats have stood on the side of the
strongly opposing this partisan Republican spending bill that hurts families, seniors,
and veterans. The House Republican spending bill is an attack on everyday Americans.
It will cut health care, cut veterans benefits, and cut nutritional assistance to children and
families. It is unacceptable. And that is why there was a strong showing of opposition amongst
House Democrats. Okay, so that was coming from the leader of the Democrats in the House
of Representatives. And what he said, I mean, I can't sugarcoat it. What he said was a flat out
lie. This bill, it does not cut health care. It doesn't cut benefits. There's no cuts to
Social Security. There's no cuts to Medicare. There's no cuts to Medicaid. As a matter of fact,
this bill increases nutrition assistance by $500 million for women, infants, and children.
So the House of Representatives, the Republican leader, responded to this. And what he says is
actually true. Well, this was a big vote on the House floor. The Republicans stood together and
we had one Democrat vote with us to do the right thing, and that is to fund the government. This
was a clean CR. It freezes funding. It's a responsible thing to do. And we're ensuring that
troops continue to get their paychecks, and TSA agents continue to do their work and be paid, and
essential workers on the border and elsewhere are doing their jobs. It's shameful what happened on
the Democrat side. They engaged in a misinformation campaign. They put out talking points about the
bill on Friday before the bill was even filed, which was Saturday afternoon. They've been lying
and misrepresenting the facts about what's in the bill, and the American people can read it for
themselves. It's only 99 pages long. We did our job today, and it's shameful that they will stop
at nothing. They will suggest that this bill is something that it's not, and they will run out
the clock to shut down the government in a desperate attempt to stop the America First
agenda. Okay, now let's talk about the Republican lies and hypocrisy. So we're going to start with
lies first, and then we'll move on to hypocrisy. This government funding bill does not cut spending.
What happened to the, oh, we can cut $2 trillion, and oh, we can cut $1 trillion. Oh, maybe we can
cut a few hundred billion. Look at this government funding bill. Zero cuts. Now let me tell you about
the Republican hypocrisy. So let me ask you, do you know who this person is? This is Nancy Pelosi,
former Speaker of the House, lead of the Democrats in the House of Representatives.
So if you don't know her, she is like the Michael Jordan, or the Tom Brady, or the Leonardo da Vinci
of the Democratic Party. But to the Republicans, she is the devil. And President Trump hates her,
and Pelosi hates him back. Now this bloated government funding bill that the Republicans
are trying to pass is a CR, a continuing resolution of the government funding bill
that was from Nancy Pelosi. So in other words, this government funding bill that Trump is trying
to pass is a continuation of Nancy Pelosi's bill that she passed for 2023. So they extended it in
2024, and Trump is trying to extend it for 2025. So this is the bill that the Republicans were
crying about and throwing a fit over when Biden was in office. The bill that 192 House Republicans
voted no to. So the Republicans said at that time, the size of this bill was a monstrosity,
and that it would spur inflation. And now Trump and the Republicans are pushing very hard
to pass it. Now the Republicans will argue that, oh, this isn't Nancy Pelosi's bill, this
continuing resolution is not Nancy Pelosi's bill, because they tweaked it a little bit. They added
$6 billion more for defense, and they have spending reductions of $13 billion. $13 billion.
You know the federal government's going to spend $7 trillion this year. Okay, but to answer the
question, will there be a government shutdown? If you want predictions or opinion, I'll tell you
this. We know what the end result is going to be. They're either going to meet the March 14th
deadline, or if there is a government shutdown, it's only going to last for a few days. So what
does it matter? At the end of all of this, there's not going to be any drastic changes.
Nothing's going to change. That's my prediction. So I'm not concerned about this government
shutdown. To me, this is all political theater. The Republicans are trying to pass a Democratic
government funding bill, and the Democrats are acting like they don't want to renew
Nancy Pelosi's government funding bill. In my opinion, this whole government shutdown scare
is a nothing burger. I mean, if I were you, I wouldn't be concerned. I'm not concerned.
I'm sure that this video, I mean, this video, I'm just telling you the truth.
I mean, if you're going to get triggered by this video, I'm sorry, but this is actually the
situation, and that's the truth. That's what's going on. But please let me know what you think.
