#scarlettjohansson #movie #actor Scarlett Johansson joins Hoda and Jenna to talk about what’s new from her skincare brand The Outset, turning 40, why she's not on social media, navigating parenting dilemmas, and more. Then, she is joined by Neil Patrick Harris to play a game of Higher or Lower!
So Johansson has so much going on these days, she's running a
business she's being a mom she's acting and now she is
making her directorial debut.
Yeah, she also just celebrated a big birthday scarlet high
happy. People a serious to I was I'm I guess I'm the last
game Scorpio first Dave Sagittarius I I sort of
identify as this is as a side. Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever that
means yeah, but I'm like what does that mean I I don't know I
don't know I think sometimes it's good to mark a moment,
I think sometimes we blow through things that are kind of
a big deal and 40 people build up to be something huge,
I know, but it is it does signify something I think for
everybody like you also think I think there's a stigma about it
why at least when I was a kid, everybody that's 40 when you're
a kid seems like forever away right and then all of a sudden
you're there and you realize oh wait, I actually feel the same
but also different because I don't care about what anybody
else thinks and how liberating is. Yeah, I feel like so
really great is that your era right now that not give a I
mean yeah, I think I hope so I mean it's only been 3 days,
but I feel like I'm sitting great. Yeah, you have a party
or no no but celebrate we had a big party and it was like a
this is your life. It was just it was surreal, I'm still
processing it was look back from the beginning it was it
was so many people that I just hadn't seen in a long time and
colleagues and co-stars and friends and like my high school
friends were there and you know, but every I was just it
was really wonderful to see everybody that I loved all
together loving each other like it was just it was so what I
love about you you're not really a social media person.
So I think a lot of people put their stuff out and social so
others feel like they know you but I think what's cool about
about you as you do have your circle. Yeah for you.
Yeah, totally and I you know obviously that's a choice.
I mean I think social media is an amazing tool for people I
and such and delicate flower that it's like hard for me to
be that involved in like exposing myself, I think
everybody in that way but you know that one of the benefits
of that is that you get to get to have your own circle of
friends, yes for you and yeah, it was just wonderful to see
everybody like just having this sense of community was great
you're a mom so do you, I mean we have opinions on phones and
social media with kids, yeah, how do you handle it so you
know might so I have a little guy was 3 cities, you know
what he's got on. He's into Legos but my daughter's 10 and
so everybody is there's a lot of that pressure coming around
now and especially if she's hanging out with older girls
and I don't know I think it's I think social media is hard for
for young people. It's hard for me to process and I think
it's something that
I don't know I feel like it's not it's so I feel like
technology is moving so much faster than like our human
kind of egos can process I'd rather her wait till she's an
adult to be able to like I have rules like family rules like
we're saying wait till 8th grade or maybe later we're
talking about not even and that's not for social media
that even to like phone. I know, I'm like what is the
right way you guys are doing right now. Even though most of
my daughter who's in 6th grade her friends have phones. If
that's the thing but what if she wants to get in touch with
you like that's the thing with my daughter because she lives
in 2 homes and she like I need to get in touch with you what
do you do you do a phone that only has the ability to call
no no yeah, I know I my my razor.
Text like I love you, but that's all you need to cool
things in your life like your directorial debut girl.
Yeah, thank you, I'm still and we're in the post-production
process I did a directed a film called Eleanor, the great with
the great June squib who's like me a little film and gives like
a career best performance, she's so so good. Look there,
I'm pretending, I know what I'm doing what you're doing and did
you have to like tell yourself that I mean I think when we do
things new. Yeah, we feel like a my pretend. Yeah, I mean you
get that like imposter syndrome. I I think because
you're you know as an actor you spend so much time in front of
the camera, I mean I've been on set I've logged in my 10,000
hours. So you kind of it's it's sort of a seamless transition
because you you know what everybody does there, you know
what everybody needs to get their job done. Yeah,
understand the etiquette on set and the efficiency is peace is
really rewarding to you just cut it all out.
I think you're going to do it more and more you were you
really into it, I hope so I mean I hope that you know it's one
of those things that feels like you know it's not it's not
something I take for granted and so if people love the film
and respond to it. I hope I get the opportunity. Yeah,
let's talk about the outset, yes because we all changed our
love your skin care. Yeah time change. Yeah, that's not new
it's oh gosh, what's new we have our holiday shop out is
making gift giving easy for everybody we have our newest
lip oasis. Glossy treatment, what is that so cute. It is a
glossy trim, I love lip gloss but I I can't stand the
stickiness and it always yeah seems to like yeah. Yeah, so
this is a quick gives you that glossy look, but it's extra
high time where is that that that yeah, you got it.
You could put it on we're coming. Well, we're coming
we're doing. But if you could put it over over any lip liner
lipstick and it has that like hydration that we have it every
step of the way at the out that you love owning a business I
you know what it's so rewarding to be able to give people
they're like best getting to talk to people they're like you
try for my skin, it's you know because we're made for the most
sensitive skin and acne for yeah, by the way for us that
we're so much make up your high on the cleansers. I'm at the
very bottom of the bottom of the season.
Haha you're the best and Jurassic Park we didn't get to
the giraffe. Yes, there are 2 are playing with our boyfriend
out John Bailey we love him we we think he loves us, but he
he don't he really loves me what he told us that he look at
you and I'm really gazing straight like you're the only
one into the eyes. Actually but this is when we realized that
he's all of our boyfriend. Yeah, John. Scarlett's going to
stick around for a fun game and look who's come to play.
Joining the fun Tony and a winning actor Neil Patrick
Harrison. I know we're not on TV we weren't on TV yet so but
Neil has a new game that he's going to tell us about the
first that we're playing one of our own games. It is called
higher or lower and here to host is our associate producer
and our favorite. I'm not going to do it well, here's how the
game works I will ask one team at a time a question with a
numerical answer you will confer and write your answer
on the white board that I was the other team if you think the
correct answer is higher or lower and the other team's
answer so let's play higher or lower.
And good. Neil and Jenna you're up first now we have 2 Tony
winners here, he's also host of the Tony's 4 times and Jenna
once unsuccessfully audition for a regional production of
lame is in Texas. So as to large.
As a theater experts. How many performances of the Phantom of
the Opera were there during its record-breaking a year
Broadway. 35 years.
Wait how many individual country just in on Broadway.
Are you doing to. He's doing math okay. There's
7,500.
Scarlett higher or lower than 7,005.
They did their due to a higher higher higher higher the
correct answer is 13,981.
to get the point.
Well done.
I should try to do that.
Like all the haha yeah, you are a twin Jenna's a twin meals
kids are twins so scarlet according to Oxford University
how many twins are now born each year in the world on
average individual twins, not sets of twins, individual or
around the world every year. In a year we hear around the
world to people.
A lot of what I got 20 million okay do it okay, let's 20
something 2320. That's what I was thinking. And twins born
in the world. And so I it seems like a really high. I say with
that by half because that's going to go ahead.
We've got a lower we've got a lot of there are 1.6 million
twins.
According to Oxford you want to go to Oxford mask. That's right
well. Really out of the loop.
All right come on.
Neil and Jenna but Neil you famously played doogie Howser
MD for 14 year-old physician, but according to the Guinness
Book of World Records, how old was the actual youngest doctor
this effort to research how what what year was he a doctor
1995.
I was it based on him.
Let's see what you got.
There's a last minute train. I kind of remember we're going to
go. Yeah, 1313 years old higher or lower than 14 higher.
The correct answer is 17.
And what would that be.
I'm going to say, but I'm glad I did okay next question is
winning.
And Scarlett according to imdb and how many episodes of
Saturday Night Live as your husband, Colin just appeared.
And on 23 million.
On on air made an appearance on air. It's probably been like.
I would say like it can't be more than like a couple so yeah
okay, okay, that's good that's good. You're right. 200.
Go higher or lower than 200.
The 20 episodes a season less.
I say lower lower the correct answer is he has been in 225.
Who's the winner, you know why yeah.
Thank you thank you very much.
I let we want to thank you what do we win.
I think nothing we'll stick around.
You can by the way please check out out said you don't have said

learn all about that and some new things.
