Good day everyone
JF-17 Block 3
with an ESA radar in the nose
is right behind me
We have a clutter of weapon systems on my left
starting from air to air, air to ground, air to sea as well
They are smart weapons
They are non-smart weapons as well
This is a true 4.5 generation military fighter aircraft
which is an excellent bang for the buck
meaning thereby you get a lot of things
within a very limited amount of financial resource
Let me give you a quick roundabout of the weapon systems that are there
First and foremost we have the Charlie 802
This is the air to sea version
These are the practice bombs that we have
which are done for exercises, not the real thing
This is a fuel tank
This is the C-802, the sea skimming missile
This is a Mark 82 with an LGB kit in front
This is a laser guided bomb
This is how it converts a dud bomb or a non-smart bomb to a smart bomb
This is the SD-10, the BVR that we have
Beyond Visual Range Missile
This is not the longest stick
The longest stick is the PL-15
which we do not have right now
The SD-10 as I mentioned
This is the within visual range commodity of PL-52 version
This is the within visual range as I mentioned
This is the air combat, close combat
And it carries a lot of potency as well
You can see the streamlining of the aircraft, the wings itself
It is truly a 4.5 gen aircraft again
This is the CFD or the chaff and flare dispenser
This is for self-protection suite
We have the elevator, we have the good old RT-93
This is once again one of the propulsion systems
We are switching this from WS-13 which is the Chinese version
And this is modular maintenance capability
We can switch the engines as well
Same CFD on this side, we have that capability
And obviously this is where we have the capability of protecting ourselves as well
We have the RWR on top
That is the radar warning receiver
Which enables visibility on any lock and fire from adversaries aircraft
This is the PL-5 pylon
This is where the within visual range or air combat weapon is enabled and connected as well
On this side of the wing
We have all the non-smart weapons
We have the Mk-82 and the Mk-83
We also have the Mk-84 here
All of them are non-smart
But if we put the LGB kit on it
Just like we had on the other wing
This becomes smart weapons as well
A few practice bombs that are here
And this is the tip of everything that we have
This is the acyl part
This is the Turkish part
Which facilitates just like a lantern in an F-16
Facilitates the targeting capability and everything else
We have the good old trusty ISA radar
It is the KLJ-7A
This is equivalent if not better to APG-68B-5 on the Block 52
And it's very important again
We have the remove before flight tag
This is the air-to-air refueling
So it extends ranges of the JF-17 as well
If I were to put this in a few words
This is the future of PAF in relation to within visual range
Beyond visual range as well as air-to-ground weapon capability
It has the smartest of weapons
In the 27th Feb 2019
It was used in stand-off weapon delivery capability
As well as combat air patrol
So this is where the Pakistan Air Force is heading
And in comparison to what we've had before in the Block 2
This is the tip of the iceberg
I'm standing in front of the LCA Tejas Mark 1
At the Dubai Airshow
Welcome back
This is the latest version of
Program that's been developing since the 1980s
And this is the product that you see behind me
If you identify this
This is an indigenous aircraft from the
HAL or Hindustan Aeronautics Limited
It has a nose with air-to-air refueling probe in front
Considering weapons
This is something that is of question right now
Here in UAE
They have two weapons
One Altariq
That is one weapon
And then we have Altariq again
This looks like something of a stand-off weapon
With wings that can be exposed during flight
This probably is a stand-off weapon
And that on the other one is once again
Altariq written on it
That is a weapon of
I'm not a 100% on it
It seems like an LGB kit in front
Something of a bomb or a smart bomb
On the wing they have the Astra
If I'm not wrong
This is a mock-up of the air-to-air missile
That they're wanting to develop
Or they have developed Mark 1 once again
This is a delta wing
With a leading edge flaps that can be extended
Trailing edge flaps as well
It has its capability
The self-protection suite
We can see the RWR on the top
That is available to us
Length of antennas on the dorsal fin
Right at the top
That's also visible
It's an American engine
I think it is the GEF-404
And this is a very potent engine
With a lot of redundancies put in place
I think here we have the
Drag chute deployment capability
This is also available
CFDs right at the back
Chaff and clay dispensers
Available to the aircraft as well
It gives a good situational awareness
If you look at the top
The RWR sensors are both
At the front and at the back
Although a bit visible
But they are available to the pilot
For situational awareness also
Same on this side
We have leading edge flaps
Trailing edge flaps
Facilitating slow speed handling
Slow speed maneuverability
Of the aircraft as well
Same Altaric weapons on this side
We have the air-to-air weapon
Or the mock-up of the same
Other than this
We have the centerline fuel tank
The pylon fuel tank on the other
And that is mostly it
Considering the aircraft itself
It's a heavy looking aircraft
Something that has a lot of
Potency or capability
But has not been able to mature over time
It's taken its due course
It has been moved into the
Regular Indian Air Force
But it has its problems
With the naval arm
Or the naval aviation
Or the naval air arm as well
Which in the recent past
Have not accepted this
As a whole of an aircraft
So Tejas right behind me
It's once again a work in progress
And it continues to grow
As the time flows in
I wish it the best of luck
And certainly look forward
To having more of it available
Recently day before yesterday
They had a glitch as well
Where they took off
Or the demo took off
At Dubai Airshow
And had to land
Circle and land back
Due to some emergency as well
So that was disheartening to see
Not to have the Tejas flying
At the Dubai Airshow as well
And with that
Thank you for your time
Have a good one
Look around
Cheers
