Learn how to warm up in pickleball before the game. State tuned for more TIPS. Improve your game! This channel is dedicated to all the gold seeking Pickleballers out there who dink responsibly and stay out of the kitchen. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0s, 4.5s and up to 5.5s. I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel: 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.
so you get to the courts
you're all excited and then you get
crushed your first game
what happened you know you didn't warm
up
you gotta warm up in pickleball here's a
good routine keith valentine
take it away man we're talking about
practice
practice not a game not a game
we're talking about practice as allen
iverson would say
yes we are talking about practice here
you go
so this is bj heller he's warming up
with me now once again this is a warm-up
routine to get ready for a game we're
only going to be doing about a 15-minute
warm-up
and the goal of this is just to go
through every station
in pickleball and just practice getting
the ball over getting used to the
motions
bending the knees a little bit making
sure your feet are moving
the way they should not trying to win
points here
not trying to do anything special just
really getting
in the motions and getting ready to play
so you'll notice i'm not hitting
directly to him every time i'm moving
the ball
down the line left to right but i'm not
putting it out of reach i'm not trying
to beat him
on this but i am practicing on where i'm
hitting
and you know as i get a little bit more
warmed up i'll start bending my knees a
little bit more i'm 45
i've had a lot of knee surgeries and so
i'm a bit stiff
anytime i start playing so i start out
just like it looks kind of stiff not
trying to do anything special
going through the motions and you know
it's always best to have your knees bent
you know this can also be a good quad
workout for you you can bend your knees
and then i'm moving over to the next
station and starting to do cross-court
things and once again
i'm not trying to do anything special
but i am moving the ball
we're not trying to hit in the same
exact spot every time
we're trying to hit four hands we're
trying to hit back hands
i'm trying to hit to his left side his
right side
and making sure that my feet work my
footwork is
appropriate meaning that if he hits it
deep i'm stepping back
i'm trying to keep the ball in front of
me and
i'm getting my body in the right
position and then also i'm working on
watching the ball
all the way to the paddle that's one
thing i never do
now i'm going to speed this up as keith
and bj progress through all the stages
you can see
i want you to see every stage they go to
they switch sides
that go in diagonal the other way and as
keith said that watching the ball hit
the paddle
they're bending their knees and moving
their quads
they're getting ready you don't want to
pull anything you know i'm getting old
i'm 36.
so you can see them progress through the
stages it's so important to warm up
if you lose that first wreck game and
get crushed
you lose confidence you really struggle
you're probably going to have a bad day
they progress to doing drops they do
vertically
now they're doing diagonal and this is
so
important dropping is so important
pickleball you all know that
it's not like i have to tell you so bj
comes to the net and now keith can do
drops as well
and let me kick it back to keith okay
the last thing we're gonna do here is
we're just going to hit some drives
full swings not trying to crush the ball
just getting through the full motion
making sure my body's in the right
balance
getting my foot you know my weight on
the front foot so i'm following through
making sure i'm coiling up making sure
i'm following
all the way through that's the goal this
is just a warm up
to get you in the mode to where you can
play
your first game keith thanks so much man
and pickleball lovers thank you so much
for subscribing we all love this game so
much and i will keep the videos coming
