Lampard will get them up the table what you lot on about negative people
We'll have to go the long way around. Chambers across to him and it's turned behind for a corner.
And there are some appeals for handball. Everyone waving their arms around.
The referee, James Bell, looks like he needs to consult with his assistant but no, he's pointed
to the spot. Chambers can't believe it but Coventry have a penalty with two minutes left for handball
against Callum Chambers. Victor Tor, the Danish substitute, has got the job and cool as you like,
makes no mistake. He's not a regular penalty taker but when the pressure was on,
Victor Tor delivered and Coventry have levelled it up to two apiece.
Time almost up. Van Avik with the long throw. Gutas heads it away. Back to Van Avik who can't keep it
in play and that's it. Frank Lampard's first game in management for 18 months ends all square.
Both these sides still without a win in five games apiece but Lampard may be the
happier of the two coaches. He's finished Coventry 2, Cardiff 2.
So the Coventry fans leave the home ground with a positive feeling after a draw from behind there.
Manager Frank Lampard, I'm glad to say, has come to join us. Your reflections on your first match
in charge? Yeah, well pleased with that positive feeling you mentioned because a bit of character
shown by the team. 2-1 down, not easy in a championship. You know, Cardiff there, set out
defending and a lot of bodies behind the ball. I know there's a lot of work to do. That was always
going to be the case probably after today, no matter what the result. So reflection for us and
pleased that we picked up a point considering with five minutes to go, we're 2-1 down.
I think we showed good resilience, especially first half, you know, when we were coming up
against a real tough challenge in Coventry, you know, with the new manager balance, if you want
to call it that. The crowd were on, you know, they're up on their feet. They caused us a lot
of problems the first 15, 20, 25 minutes and we had to adjust and change a few things tactically.
The lack of clarity over your future, is that making your job more difficult right now?
I don't really want to comment on the job anymore. Like I said, it's not my job
to do that. My job is to make sure the team's ready, they're performing at a high level.
It will happen eventually. The club will make a decision and when they do,
we'll wait respectfully and hopefully they make the right one.
In the early time of getting to know these players, what do you assess from the squad really
about what's good and where you can improve? The feeling is we're better than where we are
in the league, but the reality is where we are. So the confidence can always be a bit of an issue
then. We're striving, we're fighting. It's a good start to get a goal, to get a point,
but we'll need more. More confidence, more bravery on the ball, more feeling of what we're really
going to be. That wouldn't happen in a day. It's been really good to hear the messages
he's been putting across and there's no better example of an English midfielder than himself.
I'm really excited and I know all the boys are too.
On you personally, what was the feeling like to be back in the dugout after 18 months away?
Really good. I'm very happy. The fans, I want to thank them because they were really great with me
personally at the start of the game, during the game, end of the game. I appreciate that. I know
the last manager here has an incredible record. I've got huge respect for him and for that and
he rightly goes down in the fans' memories as an incredible era. I've worked a lot to improve
while at the game. I've watched a lot of football. I've come here with a lot of experience under my
belt. For a five-year manager, I've had incredible different challenges. It's up to me not to talk,
I guess. It's probably just to try and show. It was a decent start today but I hope to see
a lot more as we move forward.
