Here we go with the run-in. Ten to play and it's all about the thrilling crowded scrap
for those European places. Chelsea's upturn in results has been as needed as it was expected.
Southampton, Leicester, Copenhagen all dispatched. Now it gets tougher. A cracking double header
against the North London pair either side of the international window. It's a different level of
Arsenal won't be winning the title, whatever Mikel Arteta says, but regardless of their
recent domestic goal scoring issues, they're an impressively organised team and it'll take
some performance if the Blues are to win this one. Well unfortunately for Chelsea,
such was Arsenal's first leg lead over PSV that Arteta was able to rest plenty of regulars in
midweek. Obviously they're all back here. In terms of their usual A team, just a couple of
differences actually. Martinelli 4-1 Array in attack. Lewis Skelly for California left back.
Those are pretty interchangeable anyway. I think most of us can write out this Arsenal team
week to week and maybe that's their problem. As for Chelsea, well your big headline is this,
no Cole Palmer. The first time he has missed a league match since this fixture last April.
Can't quite remember what happened there. It was probably okay. It looks like James and
Caicedo in midfield. A whole load of left footers at the back with Neto, Enzo and Sancho
in support of Nkunku. Am I going long? 2v2 back there. Is James on the cover?
Oh Sanchez straight out to Martinelli. We've seen that before. Is he there or is he? Yes,
just to tidy up the mess of his own creation. Get the angle really Martinelli. Opportunity here.
Weiss going for it again. Who's an arse? I think Sanchez had that covered.
Fully get hold of it. Still not a bad effort.
Cross out, look out. I think it's a decent chance for a player of his quality.
It's a decent look at it and it's a fine chance. I'm surprised he took the touch to be honest.
Timber able to get it in. Cross on again and he scuffed it again.
And the flick is a good one and it's in for Mourinho. I know it's coming. It's a brilliant header
of course. All of them in the secure box for this particular one. Nicked in there.
Is this a contest or not? Sanchez interested here. Good cushion touch. Fernandes is coming.
Weiss has gone with him. Pedro Neto flows down and Kunku blocked. Oh yes!
Gabi Raya looked like he'd spilt it. No wonder he puffs out the cheeks.
That looked in. A couple of shooting opportunities.
Neto and then Kunku getting the temps away. It lands nicely. Horrible angle really. It's
got to be something spectacular. Goes down. It's better. He's finding Pedro Neto.
Because the chances are few and far between, maybe they're snatching at them a bit soon and
that was actually really nicely worked out. Dangerous cross. Oh that's a brilliant stop.
Mourinho denied by Robert Sanchez this time. Point blank. Yes the angle was difficult for
the forward but still a good reflex that from Sanchez. Moments. Let's see what you got.
Take them on. Nothing safe. Tyreke George here. In towards Marco Correios. So good at making those
headers his and he did. Well it's an effort on target and it's him again. The left back.
It's a very gentle punch of the air from Mikel Arteta to bring to an end. Honestly a really
disappointing derby. I don't think Arsenal were very good but they were good enough to beat Chelsea.
Mourinho's first half goal from a set piece. Sanchez made one or two saves. Raya nearly
fluked one in for the Blues but there wasn't a lot to speak of at either end Sam. No it could
have been worse in the first half no question. I think for half an hour Arsenal were very good but
then for an hour pretty average but that was across the board wasn't it after the half-time
break. Disappointing second half and my fears really came to roost that Chelsea weren't going
to be able to create enough today to take maximum points and that's how it played out.
A few that are going to need a rest and hopefully get a few bodies back from the treatment room
ahead of the next London derby which doesn't get any easier. Well the disappointment isn't so much
the defeat more than it never felt likely that an equaliser was coming. The Blues for now stay fourth
five points between Chelsea in fourth and Bournemouth in tenth. That is terrifying.
It's international break time not a classic game. We will not remember anything about this
a few weeks from now that is sure but it is a fairly classical scoreline. One nil to the Arsenal.
