We found this 1960 C10 Apache sitting untouched
for the last 20 years,
and then we not only pulled it out,
but we fully detailed it,
got it running and driving again,
and completely customized the truck bed,
making this video one of a kind.
And it's unlike any other video that we've ever made
because we are going to be giving away
this 1960 C10 Apache.
I thought that this truck would be
the perfect giveaway vehicle
because I can imagine myself driving this on a Sunday
with the windows down, with the sun out,
with everyone waving and smiling to me
as you drive down the street.
You never see these,
and especially not in as good condition as this one is.
It's actually gonna be hard to give this thing away.
And if I'm not mistaken,
I think that the truck is almost all original
and it only has 78,000 miles.
But to get more details of the backstory,
let me go grab the guy that sold us the truck.
Chris, how's it going, man?
Good, how are you?
Good to see you guys.
I'm good, yeah.
Pleasure.
How'd you get this truck?
Well, this actually came from Georgia.
My father-in-law bought it.
I think it was sitting out in a field somewhere.
He saw it, had to have it,
brought it back here to Ohio.
Pretty much rust-free.
He was gonna fix it up and drive it,
never got around to doing it.
So we're really excited to actually see this
go to a new owner that's gonna love it and drive it.
Absolutely.
I think you had said, if I'm not mistaken,
that it came off the trailer running.
It did.
So it shouldn't take too much work to get started again.
It should be good.
There was a new battery on it.
There was a battery tender on it for a little while.
I think the rubber probably needs to be replaced on it.
But aside from that,
I think with some new fuel, you should be good to go.
Sweet.
Well, that sounds easy, but things are never as easy.
But thankfully, we have our good buddy, Hussein,
who's going to be doing all the mechanical restoration
on this truck.
We are even gonna have some of the interior reupholstered.
Definitely new tires,
because this wheel over here looks insane.
I don't know if you guys have seen this yet,
but we have some dread that has left the chat.
So we are going to make sure that this truck
is not only looking amazing, but running amazing,
so we can do this awesome giveaway.
Our first giveaway ever.
Chris, thank you so much for the opportunity, man.
Appreciate it.
So head over to wdautosupply.com,
because right now, every dollar you spend
equals one entry to win the 1960 Chevy C10 Apache.
This week only, every dollar spent
gets you 20 times the entry.
So if you spend $5, you get 100 entries.
And that multiplier applies to every dollar
that you spend on the site for this week only.
So don't waste any time.
Click the link in the description below
for your chance to win.
All right, time to get her out.
Hey, this thing rolls nice.
And while we push this truck out,
I just wanted to say thank you guys,
because without your support,
we wouldn't be able to do a giveaway like this.
And we're also looking at this giveaway
as a way to give back to you guys,
because throughout it,
we're also gonna have some awesome mini prizes.
And honestly, the coolest part about all of this
is you could win this truck
just by purchasing one thing off of our website.
I'm not trying to put ideas in anybody's head,
but imagine buying one bottle of interior cleaner
and winning a 1960 C10 Apache.
But now it's time to get this thing back to our shop
so we can really see what Chevy was doing
to their trucks 65 years ago.
Back at the shop with the C10 Apache,
and this thing looks flippin' awesome.
I love these old school trucks.
I love how big the cab is, how big the hood is,
and then how tiny the bed is.
Although it's actually pretty long,
it's just not very wide.
I just love how much character these old trucks had
from the chrome details that they have
that are carried around.
Obviously the windshield, this design here,
and then all the way through the back.
Another feature that I really, really love
is this kind of like 1960s spoiler looking thing.
It looks sweet.
I don't know if that's what it was necessarily for,
but it does lip out.
So I'm assuming it pushes air up and over the bed.
Although I don't think they were that concerned
for fuel consumption back then.
I don't think they really were pushing for big MPGs
like they are today.
No way.
I don't think MPGs were even in the question
with the trucks from the 60s, that's for sure.
But just like RJ said, I do love these classic trucks.
There's just something about them,
the character about them.
I usually hate trucks that have these side steppers,
especially like newer design trucks that have this,
but there's something about this design that it just fits.
It just works unlike any of the new stuff, man.
And I wanted to talk to you guys about some of the things
that we're gonna do to fix this truck up
before it goes to one of you.
I have a great idea for the bed.
So we realized, you know, we kind of bought this
without doing too much looking around it
because it is in such great shape.
The underneath is clean and I don't think it's gonna take
too, too much work to get running,
but we still need to make it very nice
so that someone is excited when they win it.
And one of the things that we realized,
I thought that this was actually what the bed was lined in,
but if I pull out this extremely heavy piece of plywood,
you can see that a lot of the original wood
has rotted out over time.
So we're actually going to have each one of these removed.
I think we're gonna go with a really nice maple
or a really nice oak.
A buddy of mine, he actually has a YouTube channel as well,
and he does something called fractal wood burning,
which is very dangerous, but it looks awesome.
And I don't think it's gonna take away too much
from the classic aesthetic of the truck,
but it's gonna make the bed look beautiful.
So we're gonna have each one of these removed
and we're gonna have brand new pieces of either oak
or maple or whatever he thinks is best
with some cool lightning designs through it.
And I know it sounds corny, but just wait
until you see it, it's gonna be beautiful.
I think the bed's gonna be maybe the coolest part
about the whole entire truck.
And he makes really good content.
So you guys are gonna be able to follow along
and see all the work that he puts
into recreating this bed later in the video.
Something cool about this truck is it has a Georgia plate
on from 1960, so this might be the original plate
with the truck, I'm just not too sure,
but that's gonna come with the truck as well.
Again, we don't wanna change too many things
about this truck, we wanna just update it
and make it newer for someone who wins the truck.
So these little lights, we're gonna get
some new bad boys of these.
And then another feature that we're gonna have to do
to make this truck just safer whoever wins it
is these tires are gonna have to go.
So we're gonna get this wrapped in some new rubber,
but we're gonna keep that classic design.
We're still gonna clean them up just as they are,
that makes it easier for the tire shop
and also to show you how well our products work.
And the coolest part about this video
is that if you guys are entering the giveaway
by buying the products, you guys can see
how well they work in the video.
So you know what you're buying before you buy it
and you're entering to win a truck.
I don't really know what's better than that.
Anyways, we're gonna clean up these tires
even though Hussein's gonna go get them changed out
for us later in the video.
Now we're gonna unveil what the paint looks like
underneath all that dust with our pre-wash.
I wanna ask the question of the video here,
so leave your answers in the comments below.
What truck has the best looking front end of all time?
I've never seen a truck that looks like this front end,
but you guys tell me what you like the best in the comments.
All right, under the hood of this C10 Apache
is a 3.9 liter in line six.
As you guys can see, it's in a little rough shape.
So we're gonna clean it up using our citrus degreaser.
Whoa.
So we're gonna clean it up using our citrus degreaser.
Hopefully we can get a lot of this grease off
because this is going to be taken to a shop
called Forza Automotive and they're gonna try
to get this bad boy up and running in this video.
I think Hussein can do it.
I think so too.
So luckily, again, this truck didn't have any mice by it.
So I don't see a lot of wires that have been messed with.
I do see a lot of wires that are pretty old
so they might need to be replaced.
But besides that, we have a good start here.
And I think with his help,
we'll be able to get this bad boy up and running.
So what do you guys have?
My question is all this space in here,
what is the space for?
Can you add something, bigger engine?
Why is it all this?
No, all this space is here
so that you can actually work on this thing.
The beautiful thing about old cars
is they're easy to work on.
You can reach everything, is easily accessible.
A lot of new trucks, it's almost impossible
even to get to the spark plugs.
And I love old trucks like this
because there's just so much space
and it was just so much easier.
All right, let's clean it.
And I'm gonna bet that that blue comes out really nice.
So let's see.
I think it will too.
Now with our cherry sets on the truck,
we're gonna start by using a very soft brush
and getting into all those nooks and crannies
that our watch mitts might miss.
And while we're cleaning this Apache emblem,
I wanna test you guys.
Do you know what Apache means on this truck?
If you know why they called it the C10 Apache,
leave a comment down below.
All right, now it's time to clay the car.
And I was going to take time
to talk about our iron kryptonite
and how it's safe for base clear cars,
or in this case, a single stage lacquer paint job.
But instead of doing that,
I'm actually going to show you guys
how soft this lacquer paint actually is.
And what I mean by soft,
I mean that it's easily removed, it's easily scratched.
It's also very easy to polish, which makes my job very easy.
What's kind of crazy is this is so soft
that I can actually remove paint by just using a clay bar.
I'm gonna actually get the back of this mitt
to get it a little wet,
and then clay the car like normally.
I'm gonna use this yellow towel to wipe it away.
And it pulls the paint right off the car.
That's all that dead paint that was oxidized
that was on the surface.
And yes, clay bar technically is a form of sanding.
I mean, polishing is sanding, sanding is sanding,
and claying is sanding.
You're using something that's abrading the surface
and removing paint.
So you can actually see the difference.
This is significantly brighter and very marred
compared to areas over here.
Moving on to the interior of this classic truck,
I have to say there's something so satisfying
of a simplistic interior.
There's not much going on here,
but that's what I like about it.
These trucks weren't meant to have all kinds of amenities.
They were meant to be used for work.
And nowadays, of course,
everybody wants some amenities that this thing's missing,
but that's kind of is the part of the charm
of something like this.
We do have some aftermarket gauges in this truck
that I've noticed,
and some wiring that's gonna need to be gone through.
But besides that,
we have a good amount of things in here to work with.
And luckily, this thing hasn't seen any mice or rats
or any other critters.
So hopefully this interior is gonna come out really nice
when we're all finished with it.
Now for a truck that's 65 years old,
it is in pretty good shape,
but there's some things that we wanna address
before we give it away to you.
And the first thing for sure is this seat.
Now we will be still cleaning it,
but we wanna get this thing reupholstered for you guys
because we wanna have a nice clean seat in here.
Another thing I noticed is
this truck has pretty good floor pans in,
but it's obviously missing carpet.
Another thing we wanna put in there
is some carpet for you guys.
In my past, I've done a lot with car audio and home audio.
So I noticed this truck is missing the factory radio.
Now sourcing an original radio for this truck
would be very difficult,
but they make a lot of aftermarket options
that look classic.
So we're gonna try to source something like that
so that you guys can listen to music
while you're driving down the road.
Are you gonna install it?
Because you've installed radios for me in my past cars
when I was even a teenager.
I have to really get into the weeds with the wires here
and see what's going on.
I can't imagine it's too complex,
but I also have to look in
where the speaker placement is in here.
I'm assuming that it just has one or two speakers
that are laid under the dashboard somewhere or on top here.
But yeah, maybe I'll be the one to install it
or maybe Hussein will take care of that.
Also last thing,
do you think 77,000 miles for this truck
being this old is a good amount of mileage?
I mean, it definitely was used in its day.
This truck, it doesn't seem like it was beat up
or like used for heavy work.
I think somebody bought it and enjoyed it.
And then, you know, as time went on and ended up sitting,
it shows the wear in the seat.
Like I said, somebody sliding in and out.
But I think that it's good
that this has some mileage on it.
Adds a character.
So first things first, I'm gonna get this seat out
and then we'll get started on these floor pans
so we can put in some fresh carpet.
Okay, now we're gonna do something
pretty cool with the door panels.
First, we're gonna clean them entirely
and then we're gonna take them off.
And that's because we got some new pieces for them.
So that door handle, that's all old and worn out.
We were able to source a new one
that we could switch it out for.
And we're gonna take the levers off
and shine up the chrome on those.
Plus polish the paint on them
and make them look really nice and shiny again.
So we're gonna put it all back together at the end of that
while keeping that cool patina,
but giving it a refreshed look.
All right, I'm in the process of getting this carpet put in
and I didn't know that there was no pre-cut hole.
So I laid out the carpet and slowly but surely
I cut out all the areas where the seats will be bolted down.
I cut out the areas for the gas tank
and basically custom fit this carpet.
This is my first time doing it
so please don't be judging me too hard.
I think it came out pretty good.
I mean, look at that gas pedal.
That looks great.
Gas pedals in, got flaps for everything.
And I'll cut this a little bit better
once it's all fitted in with the seat.
Cool.
All right, now it's time to polish the truck.
And like I mentioned earlier,
this is my favorite kind of paint to polish.
It's single stage lacquer, which means it's very soft.
It's very easy to correct.
I'm not going to chase all the scratches though
because the paint is super thin.
So I really don't wanna blow through the paint
and have to paint the hood
and have it mismatched with the rest of the truck.
So I'm just going to chase away the oxidation
using Oberg Supreme Polish and their foam polishing pad.
Just again, to remove that oxidation
and reveal the depth of color
and make this truck super glossy.
And why would we polish the paint
without polishing the chrome too?
And now it's something that we were all most excited about
and that's this truck bed.
As you can tell, it's in really bad shape
and we need to figure out how to fix that.
If we're going to be giving it away to one of you,
we can't let it look this bad.
So RJ reached out to one of his buddies from college
and we made one of the coolest looking truck beds
of all time.
And thankfully Trevor from Bruce Burns Woodshop on YouTube
just came up and dropped off the wood slats
that we're replacing.
So let's take a look at them.
But before we show you the final result,
we have to show you how we got there.
So Trevor was nice enough to take footage
of what he does for us.
So you guys could see the whole process
and do not try this at home.
This was performed by a trained professional.
And if you guys wanna see all of his other work,
I have his Instagram and his YouTube
linked down in the description below.
Check out his pages and give him a follow
because his stuff is really cool.
But fractal wood burning is really cool.
This is actually the first time I've ever seen it
or heard of it.
If any of you have heard of it or seen it,
leave a comment down below.
But basically what he does is he soaks the wood
in a baking soda and water solution,
which makes the wood more conductive.
And then he connects a hot and a ground lead to the wood
from a microwave transformer.
And the transformer puts about 2000 volts of electricity
through the wood, creating a fractal pattern.
We decided to go to this route
because we've seen some of his work before
and we thought it would add a really nice touch
to the truck.
And it would give it something custom
that we've never seen in any other truck bed before.
All right, Trevor, so we're about to flip the wood
and I'm a little nervous already
because this side is extremely glossy.
I did not want it to be gloss.
Yeah.
So please tell me the other side is.
Oh, they're matte.
They came out really nice.
You guys are gonna like them.
Let's see them then.
All right.
Flip this one out of this one?
Yeah.
All right.
Oh my God, dude.
Holy crap.
Those look amazing.
Wow.
Wow, look at that.
Holy smokes.
Dude, that is gorgeous.
What kind of wood is this?
This is black walnut.
Holy crap, dude, you absolutely crush it.
This is so beautiful.
Oh my God.
I bet you guys like them.
Yeah, this is, I mean, there is no other truck bed,
maybe in the world, that has this pattern or aesthetic.
Yep, six coats of spar varnish on there too.
So it should last a really long time.
Wow, how long did this take you?
Two weeks.
Two weeks?
I was on a tight timeline.
I got it done just in time.
Finished up two days ago.
Let them dry.
We kind of put them on the spot.
We told them we really need this done.
So, man, this work is incredible.
Like, I want, do you make like charcuterie boards
or like home pieces, like tables or anything as well?
Charcuterie boards, wall art, tables, everything.
Anything you need.
Now truck beds too.
This is so gorgeous.
It's almost a shame that it's going to a truck bed,
but it's not,
because it's gonna be one of the coolest truck beds
the world's ever seen.
At least for sure on a C10 Apache.
But dude, I gotta say, this is incredible.
Thank you so much.
Where can people find your work?
Where can they watch your content at?
Bruce Burns Woodshop on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok,
and burnswoodshop.com.
You can put in a custom inquiry for a custom piece
and find pieces I have for sale on there.
Cool.
So you also videoed this whole entire process as well.
I think we're gonna include a little bit of it,
but I don't want to spoil the whole video for you.
But our viewers can watch how you actually
did this whole entire project on your channel here
in like a week or two after our video was live.
Yeah, it should be.
I edited everything on my own,
so it'll be probably a week or two after you guys,
but I recorded the whole process
so you guys will be able to see everything.
Cool, cool.
Guys, please go give him a follow.
He did such an amazing job.
This is a little buddy of mine from college,
so I'm a little biased.
But nonetheless, Trevor, thank you so much.
Guys, again, please go and support him.
And let's go ahead and get this bed fitted.
Now, as we get the wood fitted,
you guys will see that amazing before and after
before we take it to Hussein at Forza Automotive
to get this thing running and on the road again.
So the guys over at WD have dropped off their truck.
They want us to go through it,
just make sure it's mechanically sound,
look good to run and drive.
So first thing we're starting with is just draining oil,
get some fresh oil in the motor.
We're gonna go ahead and do some spark plugs on it
and then try to fire it for the first time.
So while Dylan's draining the oil,
I'm gonna go ahead and start pulling the spark plugs
and getting the new ones put in.
Definitely tell they're old.
Black and city.
Big difference in the two spark plugs.
We got the oil drained now,
so next step is we're gonna go ahead
and drain the old gas out of the tank
just to make sure that we don't suck any
of the old barnacy gas into the carburetor
or anything like that.
Also try to go through the gas cap
and get as much of it as we can, empty it out of there.
As you guys can tell, a lot of old, nasty gas
in there, see how yellow that is.
So we thought there was a bunch of fuel in there,
but it doesn't seem like nothing really wants to come out.
So we're gonna go ahead and add a little bit
of fresh gas in there.
I pulled the seat forward and was tapping on the tank,
didn't really hear any fuel in there.
So we got all the gas in there,
we're gonna go ahead and get a new fuel filter
from the parts store, put it on,
and then start cranking it over
and see if we start getting clean fuel up front.
So we got the new fuel filter on there,
got the jump box on here.
We're gonna go ahead and try to crank it over
for the first time, see if we can get some fuel
moving up front.
Starting to get fuel up the filter.
Well, it started, so that's a good sign.
Now we're just gonna try to keep it running
a little longer, see if we can get fuel up to the carburetor.
But actually the motor sounds really healthy.
We didn't hear no weird noises or anything.
Seemed to run pretty smooth.
So the gas from WD just dropped off some new tires,
so we're gonna go ahead and get the wheels off the truck,
the old tires broken down and get the new rubber on there.
Then we're gonna attempt to do a first drive in it.
And guys, while we're watching these tires get replaced,
do me a favor and go to Hussein's channel, Forza Automotive.
He's become a really good friend of ours
and so is his family and the guys over at Forza.
They're all awesome people.
And they did all the work on this truck for us
absolutely for free,
just to help us give it away to you guys.
They wanted to be a part of this
because they love the car community
and they wanted to be a part of something special.
So everything that you're seeing
and everything that Hussein filmed,
they did 100% for free.
So please take a second, go subscribe to them
because we're also gonna be doing more stuff with them
in the future.
And you're gonna be seeing him on our channel a lot.
Just wanna do a quick systems check,
see if everything's working as it should.
So we're gonna go ahead and try the emergency brake.
We're on a little bit of an incline here.
Okay, we don't roll, so that's good.
Next up, wipers.
Wipers work good.
Choke works.
Next up, headlights.
Let's go out there and check, see if they're working.
All right, headlights are working.
Let's check out the taillights.
Doesn't appear the taillights are working.
Next up on the list is gonna be our turn signals then
and taillights.
And then this heat upholstery should be all good to go.
Oh, I like it.
I wish it was mine.
So we're gonna take for a test drive up the road,
see how everything goes, see how everything feels in it.
I like it, it's quiet, nice.
Motor runs nice and smooth.
Yeah, it's beautiful.
Wow, you look like Sanford Sun.
Wow, it's been tired too.
Nice.
Seems good, not getting hot or anything.
Running pretty good.
Three on the tree's a little weird.
It's not very often that you drive a manual transmission
on the column, but getting used to it.
But overall, everything feels pretty good.
We're just gonna head back to the shop now
and do a once over on it, check, make sure all of our lights
and everything are working properly.
Next on will be the upholstery of the seat.
So we're gonna start with removing the old upholstery.
We gotta go ahead and get all the old ball rings off first
and remove all the vinyl.
You guys can see the old patterns,
the seats have already been covered once before.
You guys can see it had a cool checkered pattern before.
We're gonna go ahead and just leave this on there though
just for the extra strength and rigidity
just because it is old.
So this is the new design we decided to go with.
Thought it looked pretty cool on it.
All right guys, that concludes our video
on the 1960 C10 Apache.
You guys saw us do so much work,
more work than we've ever done on a vehicle
ever in the existence of WD.
And you have the opportunity to win this truck.
And all you have to do is go to our website
and purchase any of our detailing products
or any of the merchandise on the site.
And for the first 10 days of the giveaway,
we are offering a 20 times multiplier,
meaning that every dollar spent gets you 20 entries
and a better chance to win the truck.
And I'm so proud of all the work that went into this
and we could have not have done this
without all the people that helped,
including Trevor who helped us with the bed
or Hussein who helped us with all the mechanics
or Wyatt who helped us with all the filming
or Leon who let us come here to his place of work
and use his big turntable
and be around all these cool supercars.
And especially we could have never done this
without you guys.
We could have done none of this without you.
And we thank you so much for giving us the opportunity
to do something so cool.
And we just wanna say thank you
from the bottom of our hearts.
So if you're interested in winning the truck,
go buy some detailing products or some merchandise.
