across the globe there are many remote
fishing destinations that call to
Anglers promising the chance to catch
the fish of their dreams scattered
across multiple continents these Untamed
Waters test both skill and
determination but there is one place one
legendary stretch of ocean that draws
thousands of Anglers every year a place
where bucketless fish await those bold
enough to Brave its unforgiving
conditions
welcome to the Pacific coast of Panama a
true anger's Paradise but not without
its dangers here you're hundreds of
miles from the nearest hospital fishing
at the edge of one of the world's most
treacherous jungles and if that's not
enough the best way to hunt these Giants
is by kayak where 10-ft Coastal swells
are just another part of the challenge
it's a battle of risk versus reward but
for me there's no question the chance to
land the fish of a lifetime is worth it
all so join me on this intense onewe
journey through rough Seas a Relentless
fever and illness and a final storybook
Showdown with the fish of my
dreams this is an adventure like no
other and here we
go good morning guys first morning we
are about ready to
launch see they're pulling our panga out
kayaks are loaded up we are heading out
it is time to go fish finally so we're
going a several miles from here today
we're going to head out and down around
the point there and we're going to put
the kayaks in the water once we get
there saving us from having a long long
paddle to get to the fishing spot so
we're going to get on the panga get to
our spot and then I will get back with
you everybody say good morning to Robert
you ready to do it oh yeah I'm pumped
very flat this morning
[Music]
all right guys we are off let's do
this all right got some fish busting up
here I've seen yep there we go there's
another one maybe we get us a good
bait there we go got a bait got a bait
all right I think it's a
Bonita it's fighting like a
Bonita oh I pulled loose damn it so
while we're trying to catch our own
baits the pangas are also out catching
baits for us at the same time so if you
don't have a bait and they get one for
you you just go over they'll get your
hook and put the bait on for you and
then you can start trolling immediately
Runners same
I
it what depth range do I want to stay in
40 to 80 is
SP consistently and you lose that base
then maybe we'll cut it off in
between so we want to stay between 40
and 80 ft of
depth when we're trolling that hard tail
for the rooster fish and uh Robert said
to keep it slow so we're just going to
just slowly Mosey around here do some
loops around
them when you're using big baits like
Bonitas sometimes it can be hard to tell
if you've got a bite or if it's your
bait freaking out on you because the
baits will sometimes just pull the drag
and you'll think you have a fish but you
got to leave your drag loose because if
a rooster fish picks it up and feels any
resistance he'll drop it immediately
I'm
on nope come on you can do it I'm
off it is getting
warm I mean vas are all over guys
they're just really hard for us to
transport so I'm going to kind of ignore
these right now and try to get some blue
Runners if we can kind of keep alive and
have them ready to go for when yall lose
bait but who all still needs a bait
right
now B coming
UPS it's good to kind of practice and
learn grabbing those guys when they pop
up all week
it's really a game of patience cuz you
want to give these rooster fish at least
a 15 to 20 second run before you try
setting the
hook that was a
bite so after bite I just wanted to make
sure my bait was still alive cuz those
rooster fish can crush a Bonita and kill
it and then drop it and you're towing a
dead bait behind your
kayak all right guys it's been kind of a
long
morning had several life baits lost a
big
fish but look at all the Bonita busting
right there
hi Bon is still looking pretty healthy
so not going to worry about
it it always seems when you're not
expecting it that's when you get hit
this was a big bait so I wanted to make
sure and let that fish run with it
because I want it to be in his mouth
when I set the
hook all right might be
on let's see
there we go fish
on NY
pull
a and just like that I lost another fish
that's what's so frustrating about this
is you can do everything right you can
wait you can be patient not set the hook
right away let him eat it and it still
pulls the hook out of his mouth
and just a quick mention that I have the
honor of representing the United States
and the kayak saltwater fishing World
Championships in laa Mexico in March we
do have to pay our own way in this so
I'm going to leave a link in the
description in case anybody wants to
donate traveling internationally with
fishing equipment gets very expensive so
any amount of help is greatly
appreciated miraculously my Pate was
still alive I can't remember how many
times he got hit but he was still
swimming strong so I decided to just go
with it did you still have eight on
there after that yeah it was a
rooster you can see the rubbings down
the side of him but he's still
swimming and it wasn't but 2 minutes
later I just turned my kayak around and
started heading in the other direction
you come off no
he dropped
it
no yep he scraped it all down the sides
what happened what's ba look like
is a rooster sh scrapes down the
side
damn let it eat man long you wait wait
longer next
time but sometimes you do every single
thing right and it it just don't get by
me there's always some luck involved in
how they B
it SW
yeah works really well when
that freaking Bonita got smashed three
times and he lived through all of them
but the last one Dam yeah it's got that
like sandpaper scrapes on it
yep so that was the end of fishing day
one pretty frustrating I had multiple
chances to land roosters and I just
could not get a hook in them frustrating
day oh
thanks one two three
[Applause]
go it was so nice every day when we got
back from fishing we had fresh Ceviche
fresh fish dip waiting for us oh so good
how's it de h i I was really good today
at losing fish so this was the end of
day one day two I woke up in the morning
I had a fever I was coughing hacking I
felt horrible I went ahead and fished
all day but I didn't put the footage in
because it was
uneventful so now now we're just going
to skip ahead to day three I felt maybe
a little bit better but I still was not
100% we were heading out to a new spot
today on day three and I really wanted
to be excited but the fever was just
keeping me
down yeah I dropped on some spots that
look loaded but nothing will hit you got
line oh no it's just a
jig I spent the first part of the
morning vertical jigging without any
Real Results I got hit a couple times
but didn't hook any fish so figured it
was time for some live bait to troll
gracias guys over to the east there's a
good B
jumping all right guys we got a Bonita
on let's go catch something
all right I think we're on unless that
Bonita's just running but I don't think
he did I don't think it is all right
let's go
this was a tricky situation here I
thought he had dropped the bait but he
was actually swimming at me did I lose
my
rooster and I had my rod out to the side
which is a compromising position in the
kayak and he almost flipped
me oh there he is
he's got to still be
on all right come on keep them hooked
keep them
hooked he just starts ripping drag out
here this is what's called a Panamanian
sleigh ride
Big
Fish yellow kayak Big
Fish the power of these rooster fish is
just incredible probably pound for pound
the hardest fight fish I fought on my
way
brother here we're head
over oh yeah good rooster
good
rooster oh
[Music]
yeah like a good size n
nice
[Music]
man got him
got
yeah yeah look at that all right
finally on the
board yeah definitely a nice fish but it
was not the giant trophy that I came to
Panama for so I was still on the
hunt sick all right shoot him yeah yeah
go ahead
yeah there you go he's yep no the rors
though Robert from field trips with
Robert Fields was hooked up to something
massive it was so big he was having
trouble even moving an
[Laughter]
inch Roberts got him something Dandy
on it was so big that he thought he was
stuck on bottom until it started
swimming that's a heavy fish
well that would probably eliminate shark
wouldn't
itude you still jacking with that
one he's got to be out he's Towing you
so I'd went off and fished and come back
and he was still fighting
yeah and it was like he chomped on it a
few times
first this is insane this has got to be
a massive kubara
I got to see what this is I can't fish
until I see what it
is he's giving up a
little get him get
him
[Laughter]
swordfish this fish was so strong Robert
snapped his
Ro giant Stinger oh it's a live
Bonita whoa look at that thing
M giant s not what we were hoping for
but it was still cool to see something
that
huge
ready want me hop out day three was in
the books and I had the skunk off my
back day four we were hit in a different
area that contained a lot of rocks and
shallower places is to fish so we were
going to throw some bucktails and do
some jigging in addition to trolling the
life baits
around day four was kind of a setback
healthwise day three I thought I was
getting better but day four I felt like
crap does anybody have a spare pair of
gloves the sun in Panama is brutal and
the one thing I didn't keep covered was
my hands I'll squeeze them in
somehow thank you I had no clue your
fingernails could get
sunburned I'm ready to go to
bed so between long breaks of just
resting in the kayak I did actually
throw the Bucktail jig a little when
this
happened if he's damn near at M then I
tell him just keep going till he gets
there
but right there
like
the he's say 00
yard
Bo yeah okay
okay stay over there that's kind of
zigzag like in closer to the coast get
you know get up in like 40 ft even like
35 ft I don't know how much line you got
out to a little bit
60
70
some and all right we're on
guys that Z like sometimes they're
they're really kind of focusing Clos to
the coast in 30t of water they out 70 so
I knew this wasn't a rooster but it was
a strong fish putting up a good fight
big
nice what is this I thought you already
got your boat not that big
uh it's about uh eight 8 lb uh blue F
volley oh sick
all right
guys I can't remember if I caught one of
these at Tropic star or not I know I
caught a golden travali but beautiful
fish look at the purple almost
iridescent it's like glowing what a
beauty F hard too you want to no throw
it throw it oh throw back yeah
okay swim
off can I get a refill yeah all right
guys that's going to do it for today we
got to get back in not a very productive
day for me but everybody kind of
struggled today so the fish just weren't
aggressive but I feel worn down run down
from the cold so I'm gonna go back and
get some rest and uh try and get ready
for the last day
tomorrow so I'll see you guys
tomorrow all right good morning guys
last day in
paradise I slept a total of about 14
hours yesterday and last night so I
think I recharged the batteries just
enough to make it through today
so it's time to get it on and uh go slay
some big fish so you see they're loading
the pangas into the water and then we're
heading out to some rocks way out there
you can see the Rocks uh a lot of good
chance at some big fish today so we're
going to try and catch live bait drop
some live baits down and if not we're
going to jig a lot so uh looks like the
tractor's coming for us so we're going
to get
started one moment
gra good Lu thank
you I only had one thing on my mind
today and that was to hook a massive
fish Jack had caught a rooster earlier
in the week and had been crowing all
week about how he' caught the biggest
fish so until we got some live baits to
put out I just decided to go ahead and
drop the vertical jig and see what I
could pull up off of the
Rocks
up Ed
Ed [ __ ] you
man there we go all right right we're
on I'm on Big
Fish
whoa God
dog what is this it's good size whatever
it is
got to keep out of the
Rocks I just got a glimpse of them
come
on dumping me
go this fish had a lot of fight in it
and I was worried about it getting back
down to the rocks
STI with Bonita yeah
see oh I thought I had something good
oh
no white tuna white tuna gotcha
believe this is a Pacific Bonito the
locals there call it a white tuna uh
some of them eat it some of it don't uh
a lot of them use them for
bait all right marus species off the
list all right got it out all right guys
new species for me white tuna
got him yeah I got all
right
you so the rest of that morning was
pretty uneventful and time was becoming
a
factor there we go
on
L these Bonitas seem to be great bait
for the rooster fish but the thing is
they die so fast you have to get it off
of your hook and onto your live bait rig
quick or else it'll die before you even
get a chance to fish
it oh yeah perfect trolling size
[Music]
now I'm in
business all right caught us a great
bait of
Bonita perfect size now we're going to
do some
trolling so IID literally trolled that
Bonita for almost 2 hours and I was
pretty sure he was dead so I decided to
reel up and check him and sure enough he
was
so time was running out we only had
about an hour left to fish and I was
really getting
discouraged just a little bit earlier
Jack had caught a nice broomtail grouper
and he was already talking trash about
the fish he'd caught and that I hadn't
so I was getting desperate it was really
getting down to the end of fishing
time and luckily Robert had caught a big
hard ta and he gave it to one of the
guys in the panga to bring over to me
this was more than likely going to be my
last bait of the whole trip so I had to
make it
count good thing about the hard tail
vers the Bonita is the hard tails are
very hearty and they'll live a lot
longer than the
Bonita
grais another
so I was off with my last bait of the
whole trip trying to throw a Hail Mary
on the last play of the game Rob where
would you suggest to concentrate
trolling
this the
water that was Jack making a joke he's
real good at that when he's got the
biggest fish on the
board Rob did you copy that
no I'm sorry come back go
ahead where would you suggest
concentrate trolling this big hard
tail rooster City man get in like 60 ft
55 to 65 ft turn in the current just
pedal slow enough you know just try to
kind of hold still just let that thing
Dance I mean the roosters are cruising
so kind of like when you're lost in the
woods like don't you know just sit still
so they can find you same kind of
concept I heard that water is a good
place to put the bait there's that funny
guy Jack again but I'll give you a guess
as to who got the last
laugh all right
guys bottom of the
n9th uh this is it we got about an hour
left to fishing on the trip I got a
giant hard tail
out and see if we can make it
happen fingers
crossed then with about 30 minutes suff
fishing left my bait started acting very
strange I knew immediately this was a
big fish but then my heart sank as I
thought he'd dropped the bait
what the hell just
happened and then something amazing
happened there we go all right I'm
on big fish big
fish that Sean yellow
kayak all right guys this is it get
away this is what we've been waiting
for this was something so big that it
was literally Towing my kayak at 4 to 5
mph
you can see how fast the Pang is moving
behind me and I'm not pedaling all this
speed's being generated by the massive
fish Towing my
kayak I was at Max drag and it was all I
could do to hold on to this rod and keep
him from pulling it out of my hands
this giant towed me around for literally
15 minutes but for the sake of the video
I had to cut some of that footage
out
gotcha comeing to you
[Music]
oh he's going
back every time I thought I had this
fish beat he came back with even more
more strength than
before on the frisky Fin's custom
rod what the hell is
that
Grande you saw yeah what color silver
I was beginning to think this could be
the fish that I had traveled thousands
of miles to catch
[Music]
this is the point in time when most
giant fish get lost right before you get
them to the boat
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
oh
no yeah
that's a rooster
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
yeah
yeah look at
that freaking giant dude oh my god dude
Monster look that that is a tropy
brother
100%
day dude sick
this video right
now look this monster rooster for sha
Lawless oh my god dude
Beast oh whole day probably 50 that's
why you fish to the last minute that's
it man got him the bait last hour out
here and there it is dude all right let
me get
pictures I told you guys bottom of the
ninth I was going to hit a home run
it
happened I know I know when to quit and
now's when to
stop hope you guys enjoyed the video
