My passion for wildlife has brought me into the Scandinavian woodland to find the great
grey owl, or lap owl, as we also are used to call it.
This is one of the world's largest owls.
It's a beautiful bird.
It appears very bulky because of its dense, fluffy plumage, but it's only about one kilogram
in weight.
It's amazing how silent the flight is.
It appears almost like a ghost.
The lap owl blends perfect into the colors of the forest in a Scandinavian summer night.
The most important food source for this species is rodents, and particularly wolves.
The owl is waiting, listening, and watching for prey, and then swooping down.
It can even search for prey in low flight above the ground.
The evening light is sparse when we have to say goodbye to this fascinating and beautiful
bird.
